I’ve been able to load this game, but the game will not recognize my keyboard so I am unable to type in a character name there therefore unable to start a game. Any thoughts?

I’m scratching my head as to how to get this to work. A lot of the possible solutions on other sites either don’t work or are very convoluted and I just can’t follow them. Is there any reasonably simple way to get this to work? Please help.

2006 version opens, black loading screen with twirling loading cursor then… crashes and closes. Any help?

I haven’t tried the 2006 version, but the 1998 version ran with a few bugs and glitches. If 2-3 characters were in a corner room and another was summoned by a suggestion, the character would sometimes get stuck out of bounds and by their turn, the game could no longer continue as the character could not move. I haven’t noticed this on the classic version (with a die), only in the no die version.

Another malfunction was saving, so far I have not been able to load a save file and I must restart all over again. Of course, like many others on here, I could not type my name with letters and it resulted in me playing as $$$ for the game as certain numbers on my number pad corresponded with said symbols.

I will attempt to find my Clue disc (I have both versions) and see if they run into the same errors or if perhaps there was file damage along the way. Other than those few errors the game ran fine and was rather enjoyable. BONUS TIP: If you have rolled the die, but your character cannot click on tiles to move, try turning off the walls and restarting. I ran into this issue and it was solved as described.

Hey, I have my VM all set up and running and the game is installed fine.

My issue however is after I run the game my mouse cursor doesn’t respond correctly and I can’t position it to click start game, any suggestions?

Im using Oracle Vbox and WinXP-Pro. other programs I’ve installed in the VM work fine.

– Download 2006 version.
– Use PowerISO to mount the ISO (.cue file).
– Install Virtual Box.
– Download Windows XP’s ISO (it’s in archive.org).
– Add Windows XP’s ISO to Virtual Box so you can emulate it (computer inside your computer).
– Select the mounted drive in the Virtual Box menu so Windows XP can recognize it as as CD.
– Go to My Computer inside the virtualized Windows XP and run the CD.
– Install game normally, without changing settings.
– If game’s graphics are not working correctly, change graphics controller of Virtual Box in settings to VBoxSVGA.

This is what I did to play the game and it works perfectly. Don;t forget to save the state when you close Virtual Box, so you can always come back and play. Good luck!

I FINALLY got the game running but I’m not able to use keyboard to insert my name and 1/2 way through the game I can no longer select the tiles for moving and have to make a blind suggestion. Any known fixes?

In reply to JohnTheRipper88. I got it to work, if anyone's still having issues. For the 1998 version, you need both downloads. The larger one has the install files, and the smaller one has the actual game. I just ran the installer like I would have back in the day, and then I was able to play the game after searching for it in the other folder. Couldn't get the 2006 version working
