  3. Extract the “BFME 2 + Rise of the Witch King” folder to your desktop.
  4. Drag the folder to your C:// disc on your computer.
  5. Open the “BFME 2 + Rise of the Witch King” folder and then open the “Game Files” folder.

Instructions for The Battle for Middle Earth 2

  1. Open the folder called BFME2 and then the folder called BFME2 Installer. Inside the BFME Installer folder, you want to double click on the file called AutoRun.exe and the installer for The Battle for Middle Earth 2 should launch. Go through the game setup – at some point they will ask you to insert a CD-key. Use any one of these and finish the installation:
    • HNB3-GRYM-GLUS-HKTU-Y9V8
    • XLWW-55XX-5MB8-Q6QJ-5JAP
    • 42FP-FQES-GW72-MT37-MCGQ

    • ATK3-5TTF-9HJH-3TRW-2F8F
    • M9NN-6NWW-5VRB-5KLN-EVV3
  2. If you run the game now, they will ask you to insert a CD so it will not work. What you have to do, is open up the software called Daemon Tools and then select add a new drive. You want the virtual drive to be “SCSI” and then select “Add drive”. If this part is a bit complicated, watch the video below and you can see how I did it for clearer instructions. You then want to drag the “MI-BFME2.mds” file (it will be 9KB) into the empty drive on Daemon tools. Note: If Daemon Tools doesn’t work, then use WinCDEmu.
  3. The next step, is that you want to go back into the folder called “Game Files”. In here, you want to open the “Options.ini” file (double click it). You will see a line of code which says “Resolution = 1920 1080”. You want to change these numbers to the resolution of your computer, and then save the document.
  4. Next, you want to click on your start menu and then search for %appdata% and you want to click on the %appdata% folder. This is usually C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Roaming. Inside this folder, you want to find the folder called “My Battle for Middle-earth ™ II Files”. You want to open that folder, and then you want to copy, and then paste, the “Options.ini” file from step 3 into the “My Battle for Middle-earth ™ II Files” folder.
  5. You can now run the game from the desktop shortcut, and the insert a CD message should go away.
  6. Enjoy the game!

  1. Hi … I have the same problem as the other guy commented:
    After installing the game and entering the cd-key I have this error message:
    The code could not be executed because D3DX9_27.DLL was not found. Reinstalling the program may correct this problem.

    What should I do? I do have this code in my windows file.

  3. If you are having problems with the “no cd in drive” message then ignore the instructions and follow this:
    – Extract the contents of “BFME 2 + Rise of the Witch King” and move it to your C drive (as above)
    – Navigate to the correct folder and run the AutoRun.exe
    – The folder path should be exactly this: “C:\BFME 2 + Rise of the Witch King\Game Files\BFME2\BFME2 Installer” (make sure you don’t have two nested folders with the same name

    If you do this you do not need to bother with any daemon tools mounting (later just install a no-cd crack so you don’t need to keep these files here).

    Fyi the reason this works is because the auto runner is looking for the files mounted on the cd, and the cd drive would be C: by default. If you extract the installer here then it just finds the installer files and assumes it’s a cd drive.

    If your root drive is not labelled C this will not work. Either move it to a drive named C: or rename your drive. If you can’t do this you will need to mount the MI-BFME2.mds file using daemon tools (should just be able to double click the file). Just make sure the drive it is mounted to is labelled C:

  5. If you’re stuck on step 4, run the game, let it crash and it will create the folder in the background. You could also just make the folder and call it “My Battle for Middle-earth(tm) II Files”

    • Search “%AppData%” in your windows bar;
      Open the folder that results (directory should be “Users\”your name”\AppData\Roaming);
      Create a new folder inside there and just call it “My Battle for Middle-Earth”

  6. I went through the process for installation but got stuck on step 4, modifying and then moving the Options.ini file to the “My Battle for Middle-earth ™ II Files” folder. That folder does not exist. I tried to run the game anyways and the launcher comes up, seems to load for about 30 seconds, then closes. No error message or anything.
