3D PETS IMPORTANT NOTES 1 3D Pets are designed to run in conjunction with Microsoft's DirectX version 5 or later. This is included on the 3D Pets CD. 2 3D Pets are designed to run in 16-bit colour (thousands of colours) at 640x480 screen size. When started, 3D Pets will automatically set your display properties to High Color (16 bit) and 640 x 480. Your display properties will be set back to their pre-run condition when you exit 3D Pets. 3 If Autoplay is enabled, 3D Pets will go directly to the INSTALL process. If Autoplay is not enabled, run D:\INSTALL (where D is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive). 4 If you already have DirectX 5 (or later)loaded on your PC, then the INSTALL process will load the 3D Pets program and you are ready to start using it. If DirectX is not on your PC then the first run of INSTALL will load DirectX from the 3D Pets CD. In this case, you need to run INSTALL a second time, to install 3D Pets. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS To run this CD, you'll need: 1 Min Intel(r) 486DX/66 recommended Pentium P90 or higher. 2 16 MB RAM. 3 35 MB free space on your fixed disk. 4 Microsoft Windows 95 operating system or later. 5 CD-ROM drive.6 16-bit colour display (thousands of colours). 7 Sound Card. 8 Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device. STARTING THE PROGRAM 1 Each pet in the 3D Pets series will need to be born before you can commence play. When a pet dies, it will need to be born again before play may resume. 2 To birth a pet click on the Windows Start button. Choose Programs, then choose 3D Pets, then 3D Pet. Introductory displays will appear. You may fast forward through these by clicking on the left mouse button. 3 The birthing screen will be displayed. One or more pets may be hatched, depending the number of pets installed and birthed. Find the egg which is unopened and vibrating. Click on it to birth your pet. 4 If your pet has already been born, then go straight to its run menu entry to commence play. 5 When you first start your 3D Pet, the "name your 3D Pet" screen will appear. If you wish to rename your pet left-click on the current name and edit/enter a new name. You can rename your 3D Pet each time you run the game if you should wish to. 6 Left-click on the game icon to start the game. YOU AND YOUR PET 1 Taking care of your pet is very important. Your pet will need food and water and will need to be played with and kept entertained! 2 You can interact with your 3D Pet by diligent use of the MOUSE, to select and control objects. 3 During game play Esc and F12 keys will Quit the 3D Pet programme - NO OTHER KEYS are used. NB. F12 exits with no babysitter option. 4 A full HELP function is available during play. Click on the fish bones to bring up the garbage can Menu. A question mark will appear in the top right corner of the display. Click on the question mark to bring up the HELP display. 5 To Exit the garbage can menu, click on the fish head at the top right of the garbage can. 6 When the mouse pointer passes over an interactive object the mouse pointer will change to a switch/function, press left mouse button to turn the switch on/off or activate the function. 7 If you will be unable to play with your pet for more than 24 hours, then you must leave the BABYSITTER to look after your pet during your absence. When you come to exit the program, the EXIT screen will be displayed. Clicking on the top right-hand icon which will turn the babysitting service on and then exit the program. DirectX is designed to run with a wide variety of sound cards, video cards and pointing devices. However, there will always be a small number of devices which require an updated driver in order to function properly. If you experience problems when running 3D Pets the greatest likelyhood is that you are experiencing an incompatibility between DirectX and your system. You may go to WWW.WINDOWS95.COM to see a full list of updated drivers, one of which will correct the fault you are experiencing.
