**** BRIAN LARA'S CRICKET **** CONFIGURING YOUR SOUND CARD You must select the correct sound driver for your PC when you install cricket to your harddisk. If you need to change any of the settings at a later date, just type INSTALL in your cricket directory, at the menu press F2 and you will then be prompted for the new settings. SOUNDBLASTER If you have a soundblaster or compatible sound card, you must specify the correct I/O address, IRQ (interrupt) and DMA channel for your card. Failure to do so could result in the game not functioning or the machine crashing!! If you are unsure about the correct settings, consult your sound cards manual. If you are unsure about the settings of other peripheral cards and the game is not running properly it is probably due to a hardware conflict. Temporarily remove all cards except the sound card and other essential cards such as the disk controller. Then, insert the cards back one at a time until you find which card is causing the problem. If you do find a hardware conflict, you must change the hardware settings on the sound card or on the card causing the problem so they do not conflict. You will need to consult your hardware manuals on how to do this. As a last resort, delete the file SND.DAT in your cricket directory. This will force the game to auto-configure the sound drivers. This works on most PC's, but if your game fails to start you must re-install cricket from the original floppy disk. Brian Lara's Cricket requires 503K of free memory to run. If the game will not run with the memory you have free on your machine, create a system disk through the install program. Then create a Config.sys on your system disk and insert this command in it using the DOS Edittor....
