If this occurs, shut down your computer, then turn it back on. Go to Windows(R) Explorer and find the "Barbie(R) Riding Club" folder (it should be in the Program Files folder, unless you changed the Destination location during the previous install). Delete this folder and its contents. A) Screensavers: 1. To avoid any possible conflicts, it is recommended that you turn off all screensavers and the Desktop Horse before running "Barbie(R) Riding Club." B) Third Party Shell: 1. To avoid any possible conflicts, we recommend that you run this program under Windows(R) Program Manager shell or Windows(R) Explorer. C) Sound: 1. Make sure that your computer speakers are turned ON and the volume is adjusted properly. 2. Make sure that you do not have the SOUND muted. Double click on the small speaker icon in the Taskbar at the bottom of your screen to check. D) If Display Or Graphics Problems Occur: If you experience display or graphics problems while running the "Barbie(R) Riding Club" CD-ROM: 1. We recommend that you set your display setting to 640x480x256 colors. See Windows(R) documentation if you do not know how to adjust your video display. 2. Contact your video card or system vendor to obtain the latest version of your video driver. Note: You may be able to download this information from the Internet. If you encounter any of these problems, please contact your video display manufacturer. If the manufacturer is unable to help you, please call our Customer Support. 3. Make sure no other applications are running, including the Desktop Horse, while "Barbie(R) Riding Club" program is running. 4. If your video card is a Diamond SpeedStar64, after installing "Barbie(R) Riding Club" and launching it for the first time, your screen may appear to freeze. If you encounter this problem, restart your computer, then open Windows(R) Explorer and open the Program Files folder, and the DirectX(R) folder. Open the setup folder and double-click on dxsetup.exe to launch it. Click the Restore Display drivers button. After your Display drivers have been restored, restart your computer, then relaunch "Barbie(R) Riding Club." 5. Rapid repeated clicking while playing "Barbie(R) Riding Club" is not recommended. If after repeated rapid clicking you encounter a problem such as Barbie(R) is dismounted from the horse but no longer walks in response to further mouse clicks, exit the program and then restart it. E) If Difficulties Are Encountered While Printing: 1. Make sure your computer is not connected to a Network printer. This program may not print on a Network system. 2. You may encounter an error message while attempting to print with no printer installed or connected to your computer. Make sure there is a printer installed and connected to your computer, and that it is turned on. 3. On some printers, you may encounter slowed down program performance or an error message after many hours of continuous printing from the "Barbie(R) Riding Club" CD-ROM. If this occurs, you will need to restart the game before continuing to play. 4. During printing, the "Barbie(R) Riding Club" program may minimize. The program uses all of the colors available to Windows(R) 95. If your printer has a dialog box during printing, in order to release enough colors to display this dialog box, the program must minimize to the tool bar. To maximize the program again, simply click on "Barbie(R) Riding Club" from the toolbar. 5. On some printers, after clicking "Yes" in the print confirmation dialog box to initiate a print job, the cursor will remain immobile for a few seconds. This will sometimes occur while a print job is spooling to the printer. If you encounter this, wait a few seconds after initiating a print job, and your cursor will become active again. F) Desktop Horse: 1. There are 2 ways to quit the Desktop Horse program, Press Escape on the keyboard, or right click on the program on the Taskbar and choose "Close". 2. After launching the Desktop Horse, repeated rapid clicking on the Desktop Horse bar on the Windows(R) taskbar may cause the Desktop Horse program to stop responding to further clicks to the bar on the Windows(R) taskbar. If this occurs, right click on the Desktop Horse bar and select 'Close'. Then, relaunch the Desktop Horse. The likelihood of this occuring can be minimized on computers that provide the option of animated desktop settings by turning off this option while the Desktop Horse is running. To do this on a Windows(R) 98 system, click Start on the Windows(R) taskbar, then open the Settings menu and Control Panel. From the Control Panel, open Display Properties, and click the Effects tab. De-select the options to Animate Windows(R) on Minimize/Restore, and to Animate icons. Some Windows(R) 95 computers also provide the option of animated desktop settings. If so, refer to your system documentation on how to de-select these options. 3. After launching the Desktop Horse, repeated clicking on the Desktop Horse bar on the Windows(R) taskbar while the Desktop Horse is walking across the screen may cause a second image of the Desktop Horse to appear. If this occurs, click once on the stationary horse to minimize Desktop Horse, then click once on the Desktop Horse bar on the Windows(R) taskbar to maximize Desktop Horse. There will again be only one horse on the screen. You can also resolve this problem by right-clicking on the Desktop Horse bar and selecting 'Close'. Then, relaunch the Desktop Horse. 4. It is recommended that your computer's color palette is set to 256 colors to run "Barbie(R) Riding Club". The Desktop Horse runs with the color palette set to 16 bit color. For this reason, opening and running both programs at the same time is not recommended. 5. Some computers offer the option of variable cursors. It is recommended that the variable cursors option not be selected while the Desktop Horse program is running, as it may cause the cursor to flicker on the screen. To de-select this feature, refer to your system documentation. G) Gameplay Tips: 1. Play the "Bell Game" on Old Bridge Path more than once to see more surprises! H) Other Information: 1. At the "Barbie(R) Riding Club" Sign-In Screen, clicking on a new membership card after typing in some text may cause the text cursor to disappear from the card, and you won't be able make further changes to the text on the card. If this occurs and you would like different text on the membership card, exit "Barbie(R) Riding Club" from the Sign-In Screen, then relaunch the program. At the Sign-In Screen, select and delete the membership card you just created, then click the flower icon to start a new membership card. Type in the text you desire, and click the Stable icon to go into the program. 2. "Barbie(R) Riding Club" does not support standard Windows(R) keystroke combinations, such as ALT+TAB, or CTRL+ESC. Using these keystroke combinations while playing "Barbie(R) Riding Club" is not recommended. 3. If your computer exhibits long load time sequences or transitions, please be patient. Your screen will be black and music will play during these loading sequences if the music option is chosen in the Game Options screen. If the music option is turned off, then no music will play and the screen will be black for the duration of the transition. 4. The software performs calculations to determine the overall performance of your computer. Based on these calculations, the riding sequences may default to a letterbox format (black edging on top and bottom of the movie). This may be encountered more often in keyboard mode than when using only the mouse. If this occurs in keyboard mode, uninstall and reinstall the "Barbie(R) Riding Club" and choose the mouse mode.
