System Requirements To play Bicycle Casino, you need the following minimum requirements: • Pentium 133 MHz or higher processor; recommended 266 MHz Pentium II processor • Microsoft Windows 95, 98, 2000, Me, or XP operating system • DirectX 8.0 API (included) • 40 MB of hard disk space (additional 15 MB may be required for DirectX 8.0) • 16 MB of RAM for Windows 95 and 98, 32 MB of RAM for Windows Me, and 64 MB of RAM for Windows 2000 and Windows XP • Super VGA monitor capable of 800-x-600 resolution • 2-MB graphics card, 16-bit color capable; recommended 4-MB or higher graphics card • 2x CD-ROM drive; recommended 4x or higher CD-ROM drive • Sound card with speakers or headphones for sound and music • Mouse or compatible pointing device B. Installing Bicycle Casino To install Bicycle Casino automatically 1. Insert the Casino disc into your CD-ROM drive. 2. When the main Setup screen appears, click Install, and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen. To install Bicycle Casino manually If your computer does not automatically install Casino after the disc is inserted into the CD-ROM drive, perform the following procedure. 1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start, and then click Run. 2. Type x:\setup, where x is the letter of your CD-ROM drive, and then click OK. For example, if your CD-ROM drive letter is D, type d:\setup. 3. Click Install, and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen. C. Installation Troubleshooting Minimum processor error message appears: During installation, an error message may appear indicating that your computer’s processor does not the meet the minimum system requirements even though it does. Click OK to continue with Setup and play the game as normal. D. DirectX Troubleshooting DirectX 8.0 or later must be installed on your computer before you can play Bicycle Casino. If for some reason DirectX 8.0 was not installed with the game, use the following procedure to install it manually. To install DirectX 8.0 manually 1. Insert the Casino disc into the CD-ROM drive. 2. In Windows Explorer, double-click the CD-ROM drive and then the DirectX folder. 3. Double-click Dxsetup.exe, and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen. You must restart your computer when installation is complete. If you experience video or sound problems using DirectX, always check with your video or sound card manufacturer for the latest DirectX-compatible drivers, or go to http://support.microsoft.com/support/directx/ for the latest troubleshooting information. E. Gameplay Troubleshooting CTRL+ALT+DELETE and the Windows logo key: With the Windows 95 or Me operating system, pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE or the Windows logo key may not work properly while in full-screen mode. ALT+TAB in 640x480 resolution shrinks window: Pressing ALT+TAB twice to leave and return to the game may cause the game buttons to not appear at the locations where they are clickable. To resolve this issue, change the computer’s screen resolution—for example, to 800x600. F. Performance Troubleshooting Unable to launch in 32-bit depth on older computers: On older computers set at 32-bit color depth, the game may not launch properly or be generally unstable. To resolve this issue, change your computer’s color depth to 16 bit. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, click Display, click Settings, and then select High Color (16 bit) under Colors or Color Palette. Poor performance on older computers: On older computers, the game may run slowly or audio may be choppy. You may be able to improve performance by turning off the music and animations in the Options screens. G. SafeDisc Issues The Casino copy-protection software is incompatible with some hardware and software components. This section provides details about these SafeDisc issues. SafeDisc with Hardware SafeDisc is incompatible with some CD-ROM drives, which include the following. Acer CD-624a: The drive fails when used with real-mode drivers. To fix this, install protected-mode drivers. Memorex CD-RW2224: The drive is incompatible with the current version of SafeDisc. Sanyo CRD-256P: The drive enters a not ready state after several attempts to start the game. This drive is incompatible with the current version of SafeDisc. Sony CDU77E: Early 1.0 firmware versions of this drive fail if configured as a slave on the IDE bus. The drive will work if reconfigured as a master. Yamaha 2216E, 4416SX, and CDR6416S-VK: These drives are incompatible with the current version of SafeDisc. SafeDisc with Software SafeDisc is also incompatible with some software, which includes the following. McAfee (Network Associates) Nuts & Bolts: Nuts & Bolts causes the game to fail if the Bomb Shelter utility is in a certain configuration. The following steps allow SafeDisc-protected products to be used: 1. Maximize Bomb Shelter. 2. In the Bomb Shelter dialog box, click Properties. 3. In the Error Protection group, click Advanced. 4. In the Advanced Properties tab, deselect the Write Protect VMM check box. 5. Click Apply or OK, and then click OK on all subsequent screens. H. 3D Card Troubleshooting AOpen PA3000: The game may hang during the opening movie. To resolve this issue, download and install the latest manufacturer and reference drivers. ATI Radeon 32MB DDR: With the retail drivers, card faces may not be legible in all card games. To resolve this issue, download and install the latest “special purpose drivers” from ATI (http://www.atitech.ca/). ATI Rage 128: With the Windows 2000 retail drivers, textures may appear corrupted. To resolve this issue, download and install the latest retail drivers from ATI (http://www.atitech.ca/). ATI Xpert 2000 Pro: When moving the mouse cursor over the screen in most games, the screen may appear corrupted. To resolve this issue, download and install the latest drivers from ATI (http://www.atitech.ca/). Creative 3D Blaster: The game screen may have horizontal texture corruption. There is no current resolution for this issue due to the fact that the chipset manufacturer has ceased driver support. Diamond Stealth 3D 4000: With Windows 2000 default drivers, the game may crash before the opening movie. At this time, there is no resolution for this issue, but check with the chipset manufacturer for updated drivers (http://www.s3.com/). Diamond Viper II Z200: The opening movie and card dealing may be slow. You may be able to improve the speed of card dealing by clicking the Options button and then deselecting Game Animation. NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS/Pro: Highlights in the Poker Lobby have a visible gradient in window mode. You may be able to diminish or eliminate the gradient by changing your computer’s bit depth to high color (16 bit). Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, click Display, click Settings, and then select High Color (16 bit) under Colors or Color Palette. S3 Savage IX: The game may have a slow frame rate, and the sound may skip. To resolve this issue, click the Options button and then select Minimal in the Audio Options screen and deselect Character Animation in the AI Character Options screen. STB Velocity 4400: The game may hang. To resolve this issue, download and install the latest reference drivers. I. 3D Card Drivers and Manufacturers Make sure that you have the latest drivers from the manufacturer of your video card. Many video issues will be resolved if you install your video card's latest drivers. Casino may not detect some older video cards properly because their video drivers are not DirectX 8.0–compliant. Please contact your video card manufacturer for updated drivers or install the latest reference drivers for your video board. Note that many reference drivers are not supported by the chipset manufacturer. Listed below are some common video card manufacturers' Web sites.
