INSTALLATION

System Requirements
Windows ‘95, Windows '98
Pentium 166 MHz or higher
(Via Voice needs 150MHz, Petz needs 133 MHz)
256 color video card and monitor
32 mb RAM, 300 MB free hard disk space
SoundBlaster or compatible 16-bit sound card with DirectX
compatible drivers (see #2 under Special Notes on Installation
for more info)

Installation:
1.) Insert CD
2.) CD will auto-launch to the setup splash screen.
3.) Click on the "Install Catz 4" button.
4.) Click Yes through all installer screens.


IMPORTANT! Special Notes on Installation:
1.) To run the installer for Catz 4 you will need 300MB of hard
    disk space available on the drive where you are installing 
    Petz 3 (C:/ usually). Once installation is complete, Petz 4 
    will use much less space. 
2.) This application requires Direct X 6.0 to run and will 
    ask you to install Direct X drivers. Petz 4 can only be successfully 
    installed on computers with sound cards that are compatible with 
    Direct X drivers.
3.) If you do not get prompted to re-start your computer after 
    installation, you must do so.  Re-starting your computer activates
    the Family Model install for Voice Recognition.  The Family Model
    version of Via Voice significantly improves the quality of Voice
    Recognition. 
4.) Remember, if you install both programs, your Dogz and Catz can 
    play together!

NOTE:  If you have trouble installing Via Voice, change your computer's
colors from True Color (32-bit) to High Color or 256 colors. Do this by 
right-clicking on your desktop, selecting Properties, then Settings on 
the Windows dialog box and scrolling to the correct mode under "Colors."

GETTING STARTED

There are three ways to open your Petz 4 
program:

1) Double-click on the Petz 4 shortcut
   on your desktop
2) Select Petz 4 in PF.Magic in the Programs
   section of your Start Menu
3) Double-click on the Petz4.exe in your
   PF.Magic folder in your Program files.


Catz 4 will open to the Adoption Center where you 
can begin adopting kittyCatz and bunnyz!  You will start 
out with 10 Catz breedz and one bunnyz.  To select a breed, 
click on Pick a Pet to the left of the Adoption Center Doors.  
When you have found the Petz you would like to adopt, press 
"Adopt Now."  Fill out your Adoption Certificate and you're 
ready to go! Your Petz will start out in the Family Room but you 
can take them to any of the fun-filled environments by simply 
clicking on "Go To" on your Supply Case and selecting the 
environment.
