*** SECTION 1 - WINDOWS '95 NOTES ***


1 - THE DIRECTION KEYS DON'T WORK IN THE GAME

If you find that your direction keys do not work while playing CRICKET 97 ATE, make sure that your Num Lock key is turned off.


2 - MY JOYSTICK DOESN'T SEEM TO WORK

If you find that your joystick tends to wander or pull in a particular direction during the game, you may need to calibrate your joystick.  It is best to exit CRICKET 97 ATE before recalibrating your gaming device.  This can be done by running either the Joystick or Gaming Devices applet which can be found in the Control Panel (double click on the My Computer icon which is sitting on your desktop and then double click on the Control Panel icon).  Once you have launched the control panel applet, simply press the Calibrate button and follow the instructions from there.


3 - CRICKET 97 ATE ONLY RUNS IN FULL SCREEN MODE

CRICKET 97 ATE has been designed to run as a full screen application only - it cannot be run in a window.


4 - MAKE SURE THE CRICKET 97 ATE CD IS IN YOUR CD-ROM DRIVE

The CRICKET 97 ATE CD must always be present in your CD-ROM drive when you are playing a game (this is for both minimum and maximum installations).  Removing the ATE CD from your CD-ROM drive while playing a game is not recommended as this may cause the game to lock up on some systems.


5 - INSTALLING DIRECT X VERSION 3

DIRECT X Version 3 can only be installed by running SETUP.EXE (which can be found in the root of the CD), not WINSTALL.EXE.


6 - MY MOUSE IS TOO SENSITIVE

If you find that your mouse is too sensitive in the game and the sensitivity slider bar in the game options menu is not helping, you can adjust your windows mouse settings by :

a - Double clicking on the My Computer icon on your desktop.

b - Double clicking on the Control Panel icon.

c - Double clicking on the Mouse icon.

d - Selecting the motion option.

e - Adjusting the setting of the pointer speed slider bar and selecting OK.

f - Restarting CRICKET 97 ATE.


7 - UNINSTALLING THE GAME

It's as simple as running the uninstall program provided with the game.  Just select the START button and then highlight PROGRAMS, MELBOURNE HOUSE and select CRICKET 97 Ashes Tour Edition UNINSTALL.



*** SECTION 2 - NOTES ON PLAYING CRICKET 97 ATE OVER A NETWORK OR MODEM ***


1 - NETWORK PROTOCOLS

CRICKET 97 ATE has only been designed to run over a network using the IPX protocol.


2 - DO NOT RUN DIFFERENT VERSIONS

You can only run a network or modem game of CRICKET 97 ATE with 2 copies of CRICKET 97 ATE - the original modem and network game of CRICKET 97 will not run with the ATE version. 


3 - DIFFERENT SCREEN RESOLUTIONS

You can only play a network or modem game of CRICKET 97 ATE if both machines are in the same screen resolution (ie hires or lowres).  A warning message will pop-up if you are running different screen resolutions and the game will then drop both players back to the main game title screen.


4 - NO FMV OPTION

The FMV ON / OFF setting will be taken from the server's machine in a network or modem game.


5 - LOSING SYNC

If your game loses sync, pressing the space bar may resync your machines.


6 - MOUSE CONTROL IN NETWORK AND MODEM GAMES

CRICKET 97 ATE does not support the use of a mouse ingame ie to control your team - the mouse can only be used in the menus.


7 - DO NOT USE THE ALT-TAB FACILITY

When playing a network or modem game of CRICKET 97 ATE, avoid using the ALT TAB facility as this may cause your game to lose sync.


8 - ENSURE YOUR CONFIGURATION IS COMPATIBLE

When playing a network or modem game, please ensure that you are both playing on the same stadium type (ie low detail or high detail which can be found in the Game Options menu) and that both machines either have a sound driver installed or not.  Running different configurations may cause the game to go out of sync.


9 - INCREASING YOUR NETWORK / MODEM PERFORMANCE

For increased network / modem performance, turn all FMV off (this option can be found under the game options).
