IV: MACHINE SPECS ------------------- Operating system: Windows® 2000/XP (Windows x64 NOT supported) DirectX®: 9.0c, or higher CPU: 1.4 GHz Intel® Pentium® 4 or equivalent AMD® Athlon™ or faster processor RAM: 512 MB RAM or more Hard drive: 4 GB of free drive space, or more Optical drive: CD-ROM Video card: NVIDIA® GeForce®, ATI® Radeon®, or equivalent DirectX® 9.0c-compliant, 128 MB 3D video card with Hardware Transform and Lighting capability and pixel shader support Audio card: DirectX 9-compatible audio card Mouse: Windows compatible mouse Keyboard: Windows compatible keyboard Gamepad: Windows-compatible USB gamepad with eleven buttons and dual analog sticks (Recommended) V: CHARACTER CONTROLS (GAMEPAD) --------------------------------- Any DirectX or Xbox 360™ compatible joystick, with at least an analog stick and eleven buttons, will work. VI: CHARACTER CONTROLS (KEYBOARD) --------------------------------- Not recommended! These are the keyboard gamepad mappings that will activate when a gamepad is not detected: Function Key -------- --- Pause RETURN/ENTER Move Forward W Move Backward S Move Left A Move Right D Quick Attack J Strong Attack (Grab) K Block (Evade) L Jump I Bow Mode LEFT SHIFT Magic Mode SPACEBAR Fury Mode Q VII: KNOWN ISSUES ----------------- * The Character Controls can be customized at any time by simply selecting the Controls option from either the Main Menu or in-game Pause Menu. Note: when entering the Controls Setup screen, the end user may experience a brief pause as the game detects the available controllers to customize. * Problem: If you select a resolution in game that your monitor doesn't support the screen goes blank and will not revert back. Solution: The default Graphics Settings can be restored by simply navigating to the Eragon root directory and deleting the Eragon Configuration Settings file. Upon restarting the game, a new Eragon Configuration Settings file will be created and the user will be able to return to the Graphics Screen to customize their display settings. * When using the keyboard, there are two keys that will pause the game: ESC and ENTER. This is because ESC will always pause the game no matter what controllers the players use, and ENTER acts like the START button on player 1 keyboard. * Problem: Razac Chase: Doves are impossible to catch when performance is low Solution: Framerate needs to be at least 20fps in order to be catchable. Reducing graphic quality may be necessary to play this level. * Problem: Resetting to recommended automatically defaults to High texture resolution no matter what system the game is installed to Solution: The actual size of the textures is a function of both the resolution and the texture setting. The resolution scaling is setting an effective maximum texture size, anything more than this would be too much detail and cause sparkling artifacts in addition to just being inefficient. On top of this, the texture setting can specify even smaller textures in those cases where the player desires a higher framerate at the expense of detail. After hitting Recommended the setting will read High which is more properly "The Highest texture size which will work for the given resolution". If you changed the resolution, then the actual texture size may have changed even though the text reads the same." * Problem: Installing the Logitech driver instead of the stardard Windows driver will cause the player to get stuck in the controller config menu. SOlution: The Logitech driver places controllers into Digital Mode when it installs; the fix is to press the Mode button to flip back to Analog Mode, after which all controls behave correctly. On a Rumblepad 2, the Mode button has a light next to it--this light should be off for Eragon to function 100% correctly. * Problem: There are known performance issues encountered when running Eragon with a Matrox Parhelia card installed. Solution: This video card is not officially supported and your performance may vary. * Problem: When using a gamepad/controller, tutorial text button assignments are flickering Solution: This issue is inherent to Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1. To resolve this issue, please apply Service Pack 2. * Problem: When changing game resolution from maximum setting to minimum setting, gameplay becomes distorted. Solution: Please use the recommended game resolution, and avoid switching game resolution in this manner. * Problem: After installing Eragon into the Program Files/Startup folder, all applicable Eragon files will run upon subsequent restarts of the computer. Solution: This is intended Microsoft Windows functionality. Please reinstall Eragon and install to a different directory if desired. * Unplugging all controllers in any menu/options section results in control pad UI commands remain even though keyboard is only controller active. * In COOP gameplay, if a player with keyboard dies, to continue is the key j instead of enter on the keyboard * Problem: Fog is absent during game play in Misty Gorge. Solution: Unfortunately this is a known issue that only affects Nvidia FX5200 cards. * Switching from the highest (1280x1024 LB) to the lowest (640x480 LB) screen resolution results in a distorted (squashed) display format.
