Final Conflict (tm) Release Notes --------------------------------- This file contains last minute update information, addenda, and notes for Final Conflict. TABLE OF CONTENTS: 1. Installation Notes 2. Free Updates! 3. Manual Corrections 4. Driver Compatibility Issues 5. Level Editor User Manual 1. Installation Notes To install Final Conflict, run the "Install.Exe" on the Final Conflict CD-ROM. Detailed instructions are included in the printed User Manual, and on the printed CD-ROM Jewel Case insert. The Final Conflict installer allows you to choose which options you'd like to install. If you already have DirectX version 5 and/or ActiveMovie (general system drivers used by most Windows95 games) installed on your system, you can install just the Final Conflict game and not the ancillary components. If you don't know if you have these items installed, it is OK to select the option to install them again. If you would like to edit your own missions, you may install the Final Conflict mission editor and the associated "Microsoft Data Access Objects" (DAO) drivers. Again, if you already DAO installed (if you have Microsoft Access installed, etc.) you may opt to not reinstall DAO. However, it will not be a problem to install it again anyway, if you are unsure. The Final Conflict Level Editor may require the installation of ODBC if not already installed, which is included in the folder by the same name. After running Dataacc.exe, be sure to reboot your computer. 2. Free Updates! Please keep an eye on the R.I. Soft Systems, Inc. and Sound Source Interactive, Inc. web sites for FREE updates and enhancements to Final Conflict! Free updates can be downloaded at either: www.risoftsystems.com www.soundsourceinteractive.com 3. Corrections to the User Manual The order of upgrades on the Defensive Outpost are listed incorrectly in the User Manual. A Defensive Outpost is upgraded to a Defensive Perimeter, then to a Defensive Radar. The visual aspects of selecting a location to build a new structure have been modified. Instead of a white outline rectangle to indicate valid locations and a red rectangle to indicate invalid locations, a semi-transparent green image of the new structure is displayed for valid locations, and semi-transparent red image of the structure is displayed for invalid locations. 4. Driver Compatibility Issues ATI Mach 64 drivers do not currently appear to be completely compatible with DirectX version 5. If you have an ATI Mach 64 board, you will want to turn off the use of "Hardware Acceleration", and use the standard ATI Mach 64 drivers instead of the DirectX hardware acceleration drivers. Go into your Control Panel, select "DirectX", then click the "DirectDraw" tab and uncheck the "Use Hardware Acceleration" option. 5. Level Editor User Manual Please refer to EDITOR.TXT for the electronic User Manual for the Final Conflict Level Editor.
