If you are not using AutoPlay, follow these steps to start the program. 1. Open the autorun folder on the CD-ROM and double-click on the Autorun program icon. 2. select Start from the AutoPlay menu. Double-click on the icon program "Franklin After School - OS9" for Mac OS 9 or "Franklin After School - OSX" for Mac OS X. Display For a better playing confort, this game is launched in 800x600 pixels fullscreen, and the initial display resolution is restore at the end. If you prefer, it is possible to disable this feature by keeping down the Control touch on Windows, or the Command touch on Macintoch, during the program launching. Back to the top Log Into the Game Enter your child's first name into the screen and click OK to start the game. If you've already played, find the name in the list and click on it to begin playing. To reset the list of players: Double click on "My Computer" on your desktop Double-click on drive "C:" Double-click the "Windows" folder Delete the "afterschool.ini" file Back to the top Franklin's Room The adventure begins in Franklin's bedroom. From there, your child can access 5 games and activities. Back to the top Navigation There's a lot to do After School, but your child must learn to navigate around the different screens of the game. When the cursor changes to a star, it means you can click to go somewhere! Click on the arrow at the top of the screen to go back to the previous screen. Some games have 3 levels of difficulty represented by the stars at the bottom of the screen. At any time, you can click on a star to change the level. At the bottom-right of the screen, click on the Report Card to see how your child is progressing through the game. Click on the X at the top right of the screen to exit from the game. Back to the top The Backpack Throughout your child's adventure with Franklin the Turtle, he or she can collect printable, off-line activities in the various sections of the interactive adventure. Click on the 'props' button to change the prop in the picture. Click on the 'backgrounds' button to change the location of the picture. Click on the left, right, up, or down arrows to move the background around. Click on one of the number in the film reel to work on another picture. You can find the old one by clicking on the number where it was created. Click on the printer icon to print your photo! Back to the top Window Franklin will tell you what kind of, and how many of each object he sees in the sky. When you see an object that matches Franklin's description, click on it to add it to your collection. When you think you've found the same number of these objects as Franklin saw, click OK. In level 1, if any objects are wrong, the correct ones will flash and the incorrect ones will disappear. In levels 2 and 3, if any objects are wrong, Franklin will tell you, but YOU will have to figure out which ones are wrong. Click on the ones you think are wrong to delete them from the list at the left of the screen. Listen carefully again, and Franklin will tell you how many you're missing. Back to the top Letter Cubes Click on a letter cube at the left to attach it to the cursor. Move the cube to the spot where you think it should be along the floor and click again to drop it in place. Arrange all the letter blocks in alphabetical order, and click OK when you think everything is right. Any cubes that are in the right order will blink. Rearrange the wrong letter blocks again and hit OK to see if you're right. Back to the top Treasure Chest Click on a shrub to find out what's behind it, then click on another shrub to find its match. (You need to match the object with the letter it starts with) At level 1, objects stay visible once they've been uncovered. In levels 2 and 3, they are hidden again if you don't find their match. Back to the top Progress Report Go to the Progress Report to follow your child's progress through the game: Click on the "Report Card" icon on the main screen to see the Progress Report. If more than one player has played the game, select your child's name in the list at the top of the screen. The games and activities are classified into two categories: Activities and Creativity. Click on one of the tabs to see the category indicated. The progress indicator in the Activities section shows how far the player has progressed towards completion of that activity, at each level, as well as the date that the player last attempted the activity. Progress in the Creativity section indicates the total time spent using the activity as well as the date it was last used. Back to the top Quitting the Game To quit the game, just click the X at the top left corner of the main screen. You can also quit by holding down the ALT key and pressing the F4 key on your keyboard.
