The drivers for your graphics card must support DirectX 8.1 or higher. If you are having any problems running the game, please ensure you have updated your graphics card drivers before contacting technical support. 3Dfx cards - 3Dfx cards are not officially supported. Unfortunately, 3Dfx no longer releases updated drivers for their chipsets and do not support certain features of DirectX 8.1. Known issues include the appearance of light and dark patches and lines on the game interface. However, you may be able to find an updated driver at the following web site: http://www.voodoofiles.com/. PLEASE NOTE: If you choose to install new 3Dfx drivers, you do so at your own risk! SOUND CARDS If you are experiencing sound abnormalities such as clicking and popping, you may need to turn off sound hardware acceleration. Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Multimedia, and then find the Advanced Audio Properties Menu. From this menu, locate the sound/audio hardware acceleration setting and turn it off. Creative Soundblaster AWE 32 and AWE 64 known issues: These older cards do not perform hardware mixing and are particularly prone to poor performance with sound hardware acceleration turned on. Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Multimedia, and then find the Advanced Audio Properties Menu. From this menu, locate the sound/audio hardware acceleration setting and turn it off. **************************************** 8) Troubleshooting **************************************** PROBLEM: I am using a joystick, but I don't know how to change the buttons. SOLUTION: If you are using a joystick, you can change the assignment of your joystick buttons by executing the Frogger Config program. (Start bar - Programs - Konami - Frogger Beyond - Frogger Config) PROBLEM: The game runs fine when playing the levels, but I can't view any of the movies. SOLUTION: Please make sure that you have Windows Media Player 7.1 or higher installed on your system. You can install Windows Media Player 7.1 from the Autorun Menu on Disc 1. PROBLEM: While a movie sequence plays, the game window suddenly minimizes and I can't restore the game. SOLUTION: In rare cases, a screen saver might cause the game to stop responding during a movie. If this happens on your system, please make sure that your screen saver is turned off while playing the game. PROBLEM: When loading the game, the game suddenly exits to the desktop. SOLUTION: The directory name to which you installed the game might be too long. Try shortening the name of the directory which contains Frogger Beyond. PROBLEM: When I try to run the program, the game never starts. SOLUTION: Please check your Windows desktop resolution settings. If you are having trouble running the game at a low resolution (such as 640x480), try raising the resolution to 800x600 or 1024x768. PROBLEM: I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2, and I can't hear some of the music in the game. SOLUTION: If you have a low-end system, we do not recommend using a Sound Blaster Audigy 2. One possible solution is to increase the amount of RAM on your system. PROBLEM: I previously had Frogger Beyond installed on my system, but then I removed it. Now I want to install it again, but the InstallShield Wizard thinks I want to uninstall the game. SOLUTION: 1. From Windows, go to the Start menu and select "Run." 2. Type "regedit" and press enter. This will open the registry editor. 3. You are able to navigate your registry as you would navigate your drives. 4. Navigate to the following folder on the left navigation panel of the editor: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{9F59E04A-0902-4071-8184-16FC3481CCD3} 5. Select the folder named {9F59E04A-0902-4071-8184-16FC3481CCD3} and press the Delete button once. Click "Yes" on the confirmation, and the key will be deleted. 6. Once you have done this, restart your machine and attempt to install the game again. IMPORTANT: Do not delete any other files in the registry or modify them in any way. This can severely affect your machine and operating system. PROBLEM: When starting up the game, I can hear music playing in the background, but the screen remains black. SOLUTION: Your current monitor may not be detected by the program. To resolve this problem, please follow these procedures: 1. Right-click on My Computer on your desktop. 2. Click on Properties, Hardware, and then Device Manager. 3. Expand the Monitors profile by double-clicking on Monitors. 4. Double-click on your current monitor type. (This description might read "Default Monitor.") 5. Click on the Driver tab. 6. Click on Update Driver. 7. Select "Install from a list or specific location." 8. Click Next to continue. 9. PROBLEM: How do I view the electronic version of the game manual? SOLUTION: After installing the game on your system, an electronic version of the game manual will be accessible in the Frogger Beyond folder. You need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your system in order to view the manual. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader, you can install it from Disc 2 of Frogger Beyond.
