All we ask is that you don't edit it by hand and thus cheat. Where would the fun be in that? * Go to START MENU -> PROGRAMS -> GUNS & AMMO -> SCORES TO HTML CONVERTER * Follow the on screen prompts 1.2 How to uninstall this product * To uninstall this product go to :- START MENU -> SETTINGS -> CONTROL PANEL * Double click on the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS icon * Scroll down until you see Guns & Ammo: UTC and highlight it * Click on the ADD/REMOVE button -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.0 Problem Solver 2.1 The G & A Annual won't load * Ensure you have waited up to 2 minutes for it to load. * If it still isn't working try doing a full install to your hard disc assuming you haven't already done so. * If the problem still occurs check the Xicat web site for patches. * www.xicat.com 2.2 The G & A Annual videos won't play properly * The videos are encoded using a cinepak driver. This can be viewed on any Windows 95 system or upwards unless the drivers weren't installed with Windows. * To check this, go to START MENU -> SETTINGS -> CONTROL PANEL * Double click on the MULTIMEDIA icon * Click on the ADVANCED tag * Click on the + sign by VIDEO COMPRESSION CODECS * If you can see the word CINEPAK then you have a CINEPAK driver installed. If it is not present then you may not be able to view the videos. Please contact the technical support dept. of the company that set up your machine. * The above is often the case on machines set up in offices, where only minimal Windows installs are loaded on PCs. 2.3 The G & A Annual colours aren't very clear * The G & A Annual is optimised for a system with more than 256 colours. If you are running your computer in a 256 colour mode then change you screen settings to a higher colour resolution if possible. * You can check your current mode and change it by clicking the right mouse button in any empty space of your desktop, and selecting PROPERTIES from the pop-up menu. Click on the SETTINGS tab to view/update your settings. 2.4 The G & A Annual runs full screen on my computer at home, but not on the one at work * When in 256 colour mode, the G & A Annual runs in full screen mode in order to avoid annoying colour palette flashes. If your 'other' machine runs with more colours (see 2.3) then it will not run in full screen mode and will also be visually more impressive. 2.5 The G & A Target Challenge game won't load * The Target Challenge requires DirectX 5 or higher to work. * DirectX 6 is provided on the Guns & Ammo: The Ultimate Target Challenge CD. To install it, insert the CD and follow the on-screen instructions. * If you are running Windows NT, you need to be running a version capable of supporting DirectX 5 or higher. At the time of writing only Windows NT 5 is expected to support this. This product has not been tested on Windows NT 5, though the G & A Annual appears to function correctly on Windows NT 4 Service Pack 3. * Try running it direct from your desktop icon or from the start up menu. 2.6 I've read the above, but am still having problems * The first thing to try is uninstalling the current version, and reinstalling the product, possibly using a different install option to the one you tried before. * If you are running any other software concurrently, exit it or disable it as appropriate. This includes virus killers or windows tools not provided by Microsoft. * Whilst it is possible you have a faulty CD, it is more likely to be a slight incompatibility with your PC. Possible culprits include soundcards and possibly even network cards. You can disable these cards by doing the following:- * Go to START MENU -> SETTINGS -> CONTROL PANEL * Double click on the SYSTEM icon * Click the DEVICE MANAGER tab * Locate your selected device, clicking any + signs as necessary * Double click your selected device, and you are given the option to disable it. You may need to reboot your machine before you can test the G & A software properly. * Remember to re-enable your hardware once you have finished testing for problems. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.0 Guns & Ammo Subscription Information For Guns & Ammo subscription assistance write to: Guns & Ammo, P.O.
