Start Windows(R) 95 or Windows(R) 98. 2. Remove the "Hot Wheels(R) Slot Car Racing" CD from its protective case and place it in the CD-ROM drive of your computer to begin play. Use a disc caddy if your CD-ROM requires one. 3. The "Hot Wheels(R) Slot Car Racing" dialog box is displayed. From this window, you can: a) Click Install to begin the installation program, then follow the on-screen instructions. b) If the program is already installed click Play to run "Hot Wheels(R) Slot Car Racing." c) Click Quit to exit the Setup program. * Unfortunately, there are some CD-ROM drives that do not yet support the AutoPlay functions of Windows(R) 95. If the "Hot Wheels(R) Slot Car Racing" dialog box does not display, you must complete the following setup procedure: 1. Open the Start menu on the Taskbar. 2. Click the Start button on the Taskbar to bring up the Start menu. 2. Select Programs and then the Hot Wheels(R) Slot Car Racing program group. 3. Click the Uninstall Hot Wheels(R) Slot Car Racing icon. 4. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the uninstall process. 5. Please be sure to restart your computer after uninstall to ensure that all of the program files have been removed. Section 3: TROUBLESHOOTING AND GENERAL TIPS This section discusses performance tuning issues you might encounter as you play "Hot Wheels(R) Slot Car Racing" CD-ROM. A) Controllers: A pair of Hot Wheels(R) Slot Car Racing controllers come with this software and should be plugged into the game port on your computer before installing the game. You should then go to Settings, select Control Panels and open Game Controllers. Select a two-button, two-axis joystick. Alternately, keyboard commands may be used to play both Single Player and Multiplayer modes of the game. However, the keyboard commands will only function if the controllers are unplugged. B) Screensavers: 1. To avoid any possible conflicts, it is recommended that you turn off all screensavers before running "Hot Wheels(R) Slot Car Racing." C) Third Party Shell: 1. To avoid any possible conflicts, we recommend that you run this program under the standard Windows(R) environment, and not through any third-party shell or desktop organizer. D) Sound: 1. Make sure that your computer speakers are turned ON and the volume is adjusted properly. 2. Make sure that you do not have the SOUND muted. Double-click on the small speaker icon in the Taskbar at the bottom of your screen to check. 3. Contact your sound card or system vendor to obtain the latest version of your sound card drivers. Note: You may be able to download this information from the Internet. 4. If you are unable to launch the program, or there is no sound within the program, try changing Single Instrument setting in the Multimedia Control panel: a. Click on Start/Settings/Control Panel b. Double click on the "Multimedia" icon c. Under the "Audio" Tab, make sure "Use only preferred devices" is checked. d. Click on the "Midi" Tab e. If nothing is selected in the "Single Instrument" window, choose "ESFM Synthesis driver" or "MIDI OUT" from the list provided. f. Click on "Apply" and "OK" and restart your computer for the changes to take effect. E) If Display Or Graphics Problems Occur: If you experience display or graphics problems while running the "Hot Wheels(R) Slot Car Racing" CD-ROM: 1. Contact your video card or system vendor to obtain the latest version of your video driver. Note: You may be able to download this information from the Internet. 2.
