Installation ---------------- Windows(R) 1. Put Kelly Club(TM) Pet Parade(TM) in your CD-ROM drive. 2. Click on Install when the Menu Screen appears and follow the prompts. If your CD-ROM does not support AutoPlay, follow these steps: 1. Click on Start and then move the cursor to Settings. 2. Click on Control Panel, then double-click on Add/Remove Programs. 3. Click on Install, then on Next, and follow the prompts. To uninstall Kelly Club(TM) Pet Parade(TM) 1. Click on Start. 2. Move cursor to Kelly Club(TM). 3. Move cursor to Kelly Club(TM) Pet Parade(TM) CD-ROM. 4. Click Uninstall. Information for Windows(R) XP Users -------------------------------- User Accounts ------------- Although testing of Kelly Club(TM) Pet Parade(TM) has been performed with Microsoft's Windows(R) XP operating system, it is highly recommended that installation and use of Kelly Club(TM) Pet Parade(TM) be performed only under a "Computer administrator" user account. To verify that the user account under which the program is being used is a "Computer administrator" account: 1. Click on the Start menu and obtain the account name in use. 2. Select the Control Panel. 3. Double-click on the User Accounts icon. 4. Verify that the words "Computer administrator" appear below the account name currently in use. Consult your Windows(R) documentation for information on creating user accounts III. Running the Program ------------------------ 1. Insert Kelly Club(TM) Pet Parade(TM) in the CD-ROM drive. 2. Click on Play when the Menu Screen appears. If your CD-ROM does not support AutoPlay, follow these steps: 1. Insert Kelly Club(TM) Pet Parade(TM) in the CD-ROM drive. 2. Click on Start. 3. Move cursor to Kelly Club(TM). 4. Move cursor to Kelly Club(TM) Pet Parade(TM) CD-ROM. 5. Click to launch the program. IV. Usability Issues -------------------- To delete a name record from the Sign-in screen, highlight the name to be deleted by clicking on it, then click on the Eraser button. To exit from any activity and return to the Clubhouse without quitting the game entirely, click the Clubhouse button in the lower left corner of the screen. To quit the program, click the Door button on the Clubhouse screen and choose "yes". V. Troubleshooting and Performance Tips ------------------------------------ If the program is very slow: --------------------------- 1. Close any unnecessary applications that may be running. 2. Make sure your display setting is at 640x480 resolution and 16-bit color. Refer to your system or Windows(R)documentation. If display problems occur: -------------------------- If you experience graphics problems while running Kelly Club(TM) Pet Parade(TM), contact your video card or system vendor to obtain the latest version of their video driver. If sound problems occur: ------------------------ If you experience sound problems while running Kelly Club(TM) Pet Parade(TM), contact your sound card or system vendor to obtain the latest version of their sound driver. Screen savers: -------------- If you are running a screen saver in the background and experience video and sound problems during the program, disable the screen saver and the problem should be resolved. Refer to your screen saver documentation on how to disable the screen saver. If video problems occur: ------------------------ 1. Click on the Start Menu, go to Settings and select Control Panel. 2. Double-click on the Quicktime(TM) icon. 3. On the drop-down menu choose Video Settings. 4. Click the Safe Mode (GDI Only). Windows(R)98/ME MouseKeys: -------------------------- The Windows(R)98/ME MouseKeys feature disables the numeric keypad control on the keyboard. If you wish to use the keypad for entering your answers, MouseKeys must be turned off: * Select Control Panel from the Settings menu at the Start button. * Double-click the 'Accessibility Options' icon. * Select the 'Mouse' tab. * Uncheck 'Use MouseKeys', then click the Apply and OK buttons. * Activate the keyboard's NumLock key. Windows(R)98/ME TaskBar: ------------------------- The Windows(R)98/ME Taskbar may interfere with the user's ability to view Kelly Club(TM) Pet Parade(TM) graphics, animations and program information in certain activities. If you encounter difficulties when the Windows(R) Taskbar appears on-screen, enable the Taskbar's Autohide feature: * Click the Start button, then select Settings, then Taskbar. * At the dialog box that appears, uncheck 'Always on top' and check 'Auto hide'. * Click the 'Apply' button, then the 'OK' button. You also have the option of relocating the Taskbar to different sides of the display screen: * Click and hold down the mouse pointer on a blank area of the Taskbar. * Drag and release the Taskbar on the side of the screen where it causes the least interference. Note: If you need to access the Taskbar or the Start menu at any time while the program is running, press CTRL+ESC. To return to the program, click on the program's display area, or press ALT+TAB until the program's icon is selected. Improving system performance ---------------------------- These tips are designed to improve your system's performance: 1. Right-click the My Computer icon on the desktop, then click Properties. 2. From the dialog box, select the Performance tab. 3. Click the File System button. 4. Select the CD-ROM tab. Set the Supplemental cache size to Large. 5. Match the Optimize access pattern setting to that of your CD-ROM. (It should be set to Quad-speed or higher.) 6. Click Apply, then OK. 7. Restart the computer for the changes to take effect. Reinstalling Kelly Club(TM) Pet Parade(TM) -------------------------------------- If you have deleted or uninstalled any parts of the program and are having problems reinstalling, follow these steps to manually reinstall Kelly Club(TM) Pet Parade(TM): 1. Insert the Kelly Club(TM) Pet Parade(TM) CD into the CD-ROM drive. 2. Select the Start button. 3. Choose Run from the Start menu. 4. At the Open box, type "D:\install.exe", where D is the letter of your CD-ROM drive. 5. Click on OK and follow the prompts. VI.
