In the event these suggestion don't resolve your problem, please contact our technical support representatives. (6.1) Basic Troubleshooting Hints --------------------------------- The following section contains some basic troubleshooting hints to improve performance and correct some basic problems you may encounter when running games or other applications. These are some of the more common causes of calls and e-mails received by our technical support representatives. A. Make sure you have no other programs running in the background. Programs such as virus programs, system utilities, and screen savers can cause conflicts with games running on the system, in addition to using system resources. This can result in reduced video and sound performance or even an inability to run the game. B. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your video and sound card, as well as your CD-ROM drive. The driver programs that run these hardware components are constantly being updated to correct problems, improve performance, and increase compatibility with programs such as DirectX. For information on the latest drivers, visit the website(s) of the manufacturer(s) of the hardware device(s). C. Keep a few hundred MB's of space available on your hard drive. Your system requires additional space, beyond that used to install programs, to serve as virtual memory and allow it to run various programs and operations. D. Check the CD to make sure it is not scratched or smudged. Foreign matter or scratches on the surface of the CD can prevent it from being read properly. This can result in reduced performance, an inability to run the program, and system lockups. E. By default, many of today's video cards are set to the highest acceleration setting. This can sometimes cause problems when attempting to run some programs. These problems can range from reduced performance to and inability to run programs. To lower the acceleration rate on your video card, simply follow the steps below. You may wish to try multiple settings, to determine which one performs best for you. 1. Click on the Star button on the Taskbar. 2. Move your cursor up to the Settings listing and click on Control Panel in the window that appears. 3. From the Control Panel, select the System icon. 4. Click on the Performance tab in the System Properties window. 5. Click on the Graphics button under Advanced Settings. 6. Adjust the Hardware Acceleration level on the level bar to a lower level and click OK. 7. Restart your system. (6.2) TRL Trivia Website Links ------------------------------ Links to the Total Request Live Trivia website are located at the beginning of the game, in the Options Menu, and in the Program List. To use these links, you must have an active TCP/IP Internet connection or Internet access via a Local Area Network (LAN). If your Internet Service Provider (ISP) doesn't use Window's dial-up networking, such as America Online (AOL), you will need to manually connect to the Internet before using these links. (6.3) Game Appears to Pause --------------------------- If the game pauses unintentionally while you are playing, you may have accidentally hit the ALT key on the keyboard. If this occurs, simply hit the ALT key again and the game should resume. ----------------------- (7.0) Technical Support ----------------------- If you have a technical problem concerning the operation of our software, please contact our technical support staff.
