Some anti-virus applications report a 'false positive' virus identification on the Installshield 'ikernel.exe' program. If this occurs, update your virus definitions file for your software, and this identification may not occur. If the false positive identification continues to occur, then simply allow the ikernel.exe program to run to install the game. =================================================================== CONTROLLER SETUP =================================================================== When you first play the game, immediately set up your controller. Master Rallye allows you to completely configure your gaming experience. Go to 'Options'/'Controller' and select your controller. Define all of the controller actions by pressing 'space' on each option and then press the controller button, or move the controller accordingly. Remember to choose your controller type at the bottom of the selection screen. =================================================================== FORCE FEEDBACK =================================================================== Disable the default centering force on your force feedback wheel or joystick when playing Master Rallye. Some force-feedback devices have a constant default centering force, which causes the wheel (or joystick) always to return to the neutral position when it is released, regardless of whether or not a game is running. When Master Rallye is being played with force- feedback, this is undesirable as Master Rallye is prevented from loosening the wheel (or joystick) to give the player feedback on when the tyres lose traction. Furthermore, Master Rallye applies its own centering force which varies in real-time in sympathy with the forces acting on the car. It is therefore recommended that when using a force-feedback device with Master Rallye, the default centering force be disabled. The default centering force can usually be disabled from the properties dialog for your force-feedback device, which can be found within "Gaming Options" in the Windows control panel. =================================================================== STEERING WHEELS =================================================================== Set your wheel mode to 'separate pedals'. Steering wheel input devices with pedals often have two different user-selectable modes for communicating the state of the accelerator and brake to games. One mode is for the two pedals' readings to be combined into one overall throttle value. This mode is known as "combined pedals". The other mode is to report the readings separately, and is known as "separate pedals". To ensure that Master Rallye reads the pedals properly, please set the mode to "separate pedals". The mode can usually be changed from the properties dialog for your wheel, which can be found within "Gaming Options" in the Windows control panel. =================================================================== VIDEO =================================================================== Get the latest drivers for your video card. To increase framerate and possibly fix any graphical problems with the game: 1. Get the latest drivers for your graphics card. 2. If you have an older PC or graphics card, lower the quality of the graphics (Options/Graphics Options/Advanced Options) to increase the framerate. =================================================================== CAR RESET =================================================================== Press 'R' to reset your car if it is sliding on its roof or side. The Master Rallye game marshalls only allow your car to be 'reset' back on its wheels when it finally comes to rest. If your vehicle is sliding along on its roof downhill into a ravine, it may take some time to come to a complete stop... In this case, give your car a break and press 'R' (or the defined reset key) to reset it. =================================================================== DAMAGE =================================================================== Cars with little endurance get damaged more easily. The endurance statistic of each car in Master Rallye determines how easily it is damaged. A car like the Dirtbeast is extremely heavy and robust. It therefore doesn't have the speed of other T1's, but does not damage as easily. Generally, a car will take a lot of punishment before the accumulation of damage takes effect. Suspension and tyres are usually the first to take damage. If the car crashes at high speed, it will take a lot of damage... Stay away from trees or large stone walls. =================================================================== CHECKPOINT DIFFICULTY LEVEL =================================================================== Checkpoints are hard. Some checkpoints are difficult to achieve - they are deliberately like this to improve your enjoyment of the game. ;) =================================================================== LAST MINUTE ADDITIONS =================================================================== Race Positions are displayed. As you race you will now see on the top left of the screen (under your race position) an indication of the number of seconds the car in front is ahead of you, and also how many seconds the car behind is trailing your car. This is an addition to the GPS system in the car. However, your car must be moving to track its position via the satellite. If you are stationary, the reading from the satellite will be less accurate. Steel Monkeys Team Bermuda
