To do this, you will need to copy the file MWRoster from the previous program directory into the new program directory. (If you accepted the default directory settings, the previous program directory could be C:\Program Files\Math Workshop or C:\MTHWKSHP.) If you are running the program in Windows 95 and accepted the default installation directory, the new program directory will be C:\Program Files\Math Workshop v2.0. If you are running the program in Windows 3.1 and accepted the default installation directory, the new program directory will be C:\MATHWS2. Copy the MWRoster file into the appropriate directory before starting the application, and you will retain all information previously saved in the application. ******************** TROUBLESHOOTING Math Workshop was thoroughly tested on a variety of computer systems and most of the technical problems we anticipate users experiencing stem from outdated device drivers for peripheral hardware such as printers or video cards. If you are unable to resolve your problem through the suggestions provided here and in the Troubleshooting Guide, please make absolutely sure the driver for each item of hardware is updated by contacting your computer manufacturer or individual hardware manufacturers. Newly purchased computers are not necessarily a guarantee that the device drivers are current. We recommend not running other applications while running Math Workshop. Running other programs, including screen savers, may affect the program's performance or the amount of computer memory available to run Math Workshop. Please disable all other programs before running Math Workshop. If you experience slow cursor performance when in the Boiler Room, you can toggle between the target cursor and the system cursor. To switch cursors, enter the Boiler Room and click Go. Once the flames come on screen, press the F2 key on the keyboard. This will switch you from the target cursor to a smaller system cursor, which will move around the screen faster. To return to the target cursor, press the F2 key again. Windows 95 Troubleshooting 1. If you experience choppy sound throughout the program, you will need to adjust the sound levels in the volume mixer. If you are running the application and see a thin gray line on screen where your Windows 95 Taskbar should be, you will need to change the settings on your Windows 95 Taskbar Properties. To do this, please exit the application first. Next, begin at the Windows 95 Start button, select Settings and then Taskbar. Deselect the Always on top option so there is not a checkmark in the box next to it. Then, click Apply and then OK. You may now return to the application and not have the gray line appear on screen. Windows 3.1 Troubleshooting This program performs best when running at a resolution of 640x480 with 256 colors. You may run the program at a higher resolution or at thousands of colors, but we highly recommend running at 640x480. ******************** HOW TO CONTACT TECHNICAL SUPPORT If you have worked through these troubleshooting suggestions and still need assistance, please contact Broderbund Technical Support using the options listed below.
