You can download DirectX8.1 from: http://www.microsoft.com/directx/ Make sure you have installed the most recent drivers for all your hardware before playing Revolution. SOUND PROBLEMS Check SOUND OPTIONS in the game's OPTIONS MENU. AVI FILM SEQUENCES The Game Intro has short movie sequences. If you are having trouble playing them (no sound or no image) please make sure you have Windows Media Player ver 6.4 or above installed on your computer. Make sure that you have the latest chipset driver for your video board. You can download the latest driver from the chipset manufacturer web site: http://www.3dlabs.com/ http://www.ati.com/ http://www.matrox.com/ http://www.nvidia.com/ http://www.powervr.com/ Low frame rate problem: If you experience low frame rate playing the game set the: Characters Level Of Detail on the lowest value Geometry Detail on the lowest value Disable lightmap (not reccomended as it ruins the game's atmosphere) Disable sky Disable shadows or set the shadow detail on the lowest value Overclocking issue: Overclocking video card at a clock and / or bus speed that is beyond the manufacturer specifications can cause U.S. Most Wanted to frequently freeze or crash. We recommend not to use CPU or video board overclocking. Hardware Transforming & Lighting: Revolution uses Hardware Transforming & Lighting (T&L) technique. A graphic board with T&L support can seriously enhance the game performances. Before changing the video board in your computer: Make sure that you have set the video display on default settings. ALT-TAB support: The Revolution game support Alt-Tab switching. We recommended not to abuse it though. III. MULTIPLAYER NOTES & TROUBLESHOOTING Revolution can be played over a local area network or the Internet. While LAN play is very straightforward, Internet play may require special attention. Playing over the Internet can be done the GameSpy Arcade matchmaking utility, which is included on the Revolution CD. In order to be able to connect to remote servers, your Internet connection needs to be properly configured. The game requires specific ports to be open for communication, therefore firewall security programs may prevent your net games from working properly or at all. The settings for these will need to be adjusted, allowing the following communication ports to be open: 27318 - Revolution main server port 26900 - GameSpy query port 26901 - GameSpy query port (if you have 2 servers on the same machine) for more servers open more ports: 269XX Additionally, GameSpy Arcade requires other ports to be open in order to work properly. The complete list of these can be found at: http://www.gamespyarcade.com/support/firewalls.shtml Performance Issues: If you experience sluggish gameplay when playing over the Internet, try the following - have the server set character damage to use Animation instead of Physics - have the server set the weapons vanish time to a low number IV. 3D HARDWARE ISSUES ------------------------------------------------------------------ Category I - Video Boards for Average Performance ------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. 3DLABS Oxygen VX1 98/Me Driver Version: 4.12.01.2107 (English) W2000 Driver Version: 5.00.2195.0001 (English) 2. 3DLABS Oxygen GVX1 98/Me Driver Version: 4.12.01.2107 (English) W2000 Driver Version: 5.00.2195.1620 (English) 4.
