Last minute changes & known issues ---------------------------------------- After installation, we strongly recommend you restart your PC before running the game. To run Battle of Britain, your graphics card MUST be able to support 1024x768 video resolutions. It is recommended that you disable any Power Management options you may use on your PC. You can do this by Right Clicking on your desktop and selecting Properties | Screen Saver. - It is also recommended that you disable any screen savers you have while running the game. When using your throttle you will find a limit of 90% throttle. This is simulating the effect of combat speed. (A pilot would increase their throttle to 100% while in combat by physically breaking a wire across the throttle column) You can use the "0" key to go to 100% throttle. You should then be able to throttle between 0% and 100% from that point on. Note: This is only the case in the Realistic Flight model option. If you drop your throttle below 25% when using the realistic flight model, you will hear a beeping tone. This is to indicate a stall warning. If you are landing, lowering your gear will cancel the stall warning. When the Aircraft Names Option is set to ON the "T" key toggles the text, and Shift+T toggles the targeting diamond. This is so you can have just the targeting diamond on while using Aircraft Names. When the Aircraft Names Option is OFF, the "T" key will toggle the Diamond. When you are playing the game in the campaign mode, you will sometimes see a "Continue / Quit" box appear prompting you for a response, this means something vital has happened in the campaign map which requires the commanders (you) response. If you do not return to the 2d, any potential raids will not be intercepted. Contrary to the Manuals RAF tutorial, if you Attempt to change the target of a mission pre-take off. Select it from mission folder, hit task button, click on the target - you will get the unit selection list NOT select target from map. This is by design. When the game starts, In the preferences Injury effects and Ground Collisions are defaulted ON. When Ground collisions are off, you can survive critical damage to your aircraft. E.g. if you lose your wing and then crash into the ground, you will survive. When Air Collisions are set to on, you must be extremely careful of erratic manoeuvres in the air as your wingmen will attempt to stay in formation, which could result in fatal collisions. The ambient volume control will also control the volume of the in game AVI's. The sheep & trees that appear in the game can be turned off if you turn off the "Town and Forest Raises" option. The actions of all RAF pilots walking around Hawkinge are not our responsibility, (you have been warned) ---------------------------------------- 2. Multiplayer ---------------------------------------- Deathmatch Rules ---------------- The scoring system for deathmatch games is as follows: Kill = 3pts Assist = 1pt Death = -1pt Assists: If a player crashes into the ground then the last pilot to score a hit on that player is awarded an assist. Damage repair: Landing your aircraft and remaining stationary (speed=0) for 10 consecutive seconds will result in all damage being repaired and your ammunition (If set to realistic) being fully replenished. The successful player will then automatically enter the respawn animation and regain control at 2000ft above the highest aircraft or by pressing J to assume control immediately. Bombs: The Me110 and Ju87 can drop bombs on landed aircraft. The Me110 can drop 1 bomb every 5 seconds. The Ju87 can drop 1 bomb every 2 seconds. ------------------------------------------ 3. Hardware Issues ------------------------------------------ If you face any hardware issues concerning 3d graphical problems, Please consult the CardBase.RC file, which is located in the same directory as the Battle of Britain game. (Default = C:\Program Files\Rowan Software\Battle of Britain\cardbase.rc) - you will need to open this file using a text based editor. On Sound cards that support EAX we recommend that you disabled this option for Battle of Britain, as it can degrade performance of the game on some systems.
