Thank you for purchasing the SEGA Puzzle Pack with Columns 3, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, and SEGASoft's Lose Your Marbles. We hope you enjoy playing these games as much as we enjoyed making them. This file was created to help solve any issues that could occur. We have done our best to minimize these issues, but if you run across any problems, hopefully this file will help you. Don't forget to check out our web site at "www.sega.com" =================================================================== General Troubleshooting and Help =================================================================== All of these games will run on Windows 95 and Windows 98. When you insert the SEGA Puzzle Pack CD into the drive, a window should automatically appear allowing you to choose which program you want to install, play, or uninstall. If you do not want to run any games, click the "X" in the top right corner of the titlebar of the window - this will instantly exit the program. To select a game, move the mouse cursor over the graphic for the game you would like to play and it the graphic should become highlighted. Once this happens, double click the left mouse button and you should be off and running. If this program does not appear automatically, try double clicking on your CD-ROM drive or run the "run_3in1.exe" program in the root directory of your CD-ROM drive (this is D:\ if you CD-ROM drive is letter D). If the program still does not run, try manually copying "mfc30d.dll" into the System folder in your Windows Folder. If your Windows Folder is "C:\win95", your windows system folder would be "C:\win95\system". To avoid driver compatibility issues with older versions of Direct X, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you install Direct X6 and choose the "Do not Install Direct X" option when installing Lose Your Marbles. To install Direct X6: 1) You can run the installation process for Columns 3 or Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and choose the Install Direct X option. or 2) You can run the dxsetup program located in the "DirectX" folder on the SEGA Puzzle Pack CD. For Product Specific issues, please look at the other readme files that are included on the CD. To access the other readme files: 1) Go to the My Computer Option 2) Right Mouse Click on the Puzzle_Pack CD Icon 3) Choose the Readme File for the product you want to view =================================================================== Graphic Related Issues =================================================================== If you have graphical problems with any of the games or the SEGA Puzzle Pack interface, what most likely happened is Microsoft's Direct X overwrote your video drivers with the wrong drivers. Since SEGA Smash Pack uses Direct X6, your previous drivers are backed up when it installs new drivers. One way you can restore the drivers is to: 1.Double Click on the "My Computer" icon 2.Double Click on the "Control Panel" icon 3.Double Click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon 4.Choose "Direct X Drivers" and then hit the "Add/Remove Programs" button 5.Click on the "Restore Video Drivers" button Certain video cards require special Direct X drivers to be downloaded from your video card manufacturer's web site: 1.Certain ATI brand video cards (www.atitech.com) 2.Chips and Technologies (www.chips.com) 3.Diamond Multimedia (www.diamondmm.com) 4.Matrox (www.matrox.com) 5.Number 9 (www.nine.com) 6.Silicon Integrated Systems (www.sis.com.tw) 7.Simply the Best (www.stb.com) 8.Tseng Labs (www.tseng.com) If you cannot find your video drivers at this site, try DriversHQ (www.drivershq.com). Certain sound cards also require special Direct X drivers to be downloaded from your sound card manufacturer's web site: 1.Aztech Labs - standard in most Packard Bell computers (www.aztechca.com) 2.Crystal Semiconductor (www.crystal.com) 3.ESS Technologies (www.esstech.com) 4.Ensoniq (www.ensoniq.com) 5.MWAVE (http://watson.mbb.sfu.ca/new.html) 6.OPTi (www.opti.com) 7.Sound Blaster 64 AWE or Sound Blaster 32 AWE (www.soundblaster.com) If you cannot find your sound drivers at these sites, try DriversHQ (www.drivershq.com). If you have a Matrox MGA Mystique or Millenium, you will want to install OLDER drivers from Matrox's web site at www.matrox.com. Some Matrox cards have been known to distort the size of the screen for DR. R and Columns 3, and have also know to distort the outline of the puzzle pieces in the Puzzle Pack Interface. Both of these issues can be fixed by downloading older drivers. We recommend version 4.03.00.3170 - we have included these drivers on the CD so that you will not need to go online to fix this issue. The drivers are located in the "Matrox" Folder which is located in the "Drivers" folder of the CD. To install the drivers - run the "SETUP.EXE" program in this folder.
