Thank you for purchasing the Sonic and Garfield Pack with Baku Baku. We hope you enjoy playing these games as much as we did making them. This file was created to help solve any issues that could occur. We have done our best to minimize these issues, but if you run across any problems, hopefully this file will help you. Don't forget to check out our web site at "www.sega.com" =================================================================== General Troubleshooting and Help =================================================================== All of these games will run on Windows 95 and Windows 98. Garfield will also work on Windows 3.1 and Windows for Workgroups. When you insert the Sonic and Garfield Pack CD into the drive, a window should automatically appear allowing you to choose which program you want to install, play, or uninstall. If you do not want to run any games, highlight the Exit area and double click your left mouse button. To select a game, move the mouse cursor over the graphic for the game you would like to play and it the graphic should become highlighted. Once this happens, double click the left mouse button and you should be off and running. If this program does not appear automatically, try double clicking on your CD-ROM drive or run the "run_3in1.exe" program in the root directory of your CD-ROM drive (this is D:\ if you CD-ROM drive is letter D). If the program still does not run, try manually copying "mfc30d.dll" into the System folder in your Windows Folder. If your Windows Folder is "C:\win95", your windows system folder would be "C:\win95\system". ******************************************************************************* To avoid driver compatibility issues with Direct X2 and Direct X3, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you install Direct X6 and choose the "Do not Install Direct X3" option when installing Sonic and Knuckles. To install Direct X6: 1. Go to the Start Menu 2. Choose Run 3. Type "D:\directx6\dx6core.exe" (This assumes that your CD-ROM drive is letter D) This will install Direct X6 and will help you avoid having older versions of Direct X overwrite your video driver or sound driver. If this does happen, please refer to the sections below about resolving Direct X sound and video driver problems. ******************************************************************************* Please see below for specific product troubleshooting and technical support contact information. =================================================================== =================================================================== Baku Baku Frequently Asked Questions and Troubleshooting =================================================================== Q: I keep getting a message saying "Line 253 = COMMON..." and the game will not install - what do I do? A: The solution is to download the Win 95 CD-ROM drivers for your CD-ROM drive either from your CD-ROM manufacturer or from www.windows95.com. Q: I keep getting a message saying that it cannot find the "Install Message" files. What do I need to do to fix this?? A: Some of the Install messages for certain languages were not included, but there is an easy way to get around this problem: 1. Go to the Windows 95 Control Panel 2. Choose Regional Settings 3. Set your Country Setting to U.S. English 4. Restart your computer 5. Install Baku Baku (it will work properly now) 6. Reset your Country setting to the preferred setting 7. Reboot your computer for the standard settings to return. Q: I keep getting a message saying "Cannot Acquire File Destination" and setup program fails - what do I do? A: Remove "dino2d.dll" and "dmix.dll" from the \windows\system directory and reinstall the game. Q: It says that I need Direct X (or dsound.dll, or dplay.dll or ddraw.dll). Where do I get it? A: Baku Baku does require Direct X2 to work properly under Windows 95. 1. We have included the Direct X6, which is a much newer version of Direct X. To install Direct X6, go to the Start Menu, choose Run, and type "D:\directx6\dx6core.exe. (This assumes that your CD-ROM drive is letter D). 2. You can run the Direct X Setup program located at D:\directx\dxsetup.exe (This assumes your CD-ROM drive is letter D). Both of these solutions should work, we recommend installing Direct X6 first!
