SuperPower readme file. IMPORTANT INFORMATIONS Superpower is a game based on the real world, and use real-life names for countries, regions and military equipment. In no case a use of a military design's name should be viewed as a challenge to any trademark or copyright of that name and are used solely for reference purposes. Also, be confident that we DID NOT hardcode in special behaviors for specific countries: all AI entities in SuperPower are used in the same way to prevent racial profiling or other type of discrimination in the game. Any similarities in actual world events created by the AI is then purely accidental. Lastly, we'd like to encourage you to go through the manual and the tutorials. We know most player's only revert back to the manual in cases of problems, but this is a very complex game, and one that can become very frustrating if you can't fully understand what's happening. We're certain your experience in playing SuperPower will be greatly enhanced by doing that. ----------------- Table Of Contents ----------------- 1. Minimum PC Configuration 2. Hardware issues 2.1. Minimum PC Configuration ----------------- SuperPower requires the following system: - Pentium compatible processor - A 100% Windows® 98/2000/XP compatible computer system - Microsoft Windows 98, ME, XP or 2000 - DirectX 8.1 - 2MB display adapter capable of a 800x600 16 bit color screen resolution - 64MB RAM - 300 MB of hard disk space - 100% Microsoft®-compatible mouse and driver - Soundblasterä compatible sound card Recommanded: - Pentium3/350mhz - 128MB RAM ----------------- 2. Hardware issues ----------------- ----------------- 2.1. Laptops ----------------- Superpower wasn't designed and fully tested to be used on laptops computers, and we cannot guarantee that it'll run correctly. The reason for this is that hardware manufacturers will sometimes cut back on DirectX support for the benefit of size. If your laptop computer does meet the minimum system requirements, be sure you have the latest drivers for your video card and your audio card before installing SuperPower. ----------------- 2.2. DirectX and video cards ----------------- At the time of conception, we used Microsoft latest version of DirectX, version 8.1. At the time, most video cards needed a driver update to support DirectX 8.1. If you have trouble launching the game, install the latest version of DirectX (8.1 is available on the game CD) and update your drivers at the manufacturer's website. If, even after updating DirectX and your drivers you still can't run SuperPower, or if you don't have a driver update for your video card, check back at our website to see if SuperPower supports your hardware configuration. ----------------- 3. Misc. tips to make the game run faster ----------------- SuperPower takes a lot of memory to run, so if the gameplay is slow on your system, try to turn down as many non-essential applications as possible. Playing music, specially MP3s, can also slow the system down. ----------------- 4.
