THE README FILE Thomas and Friends(TM) Building the New Line CD-ROM game has a ReadMe file where you can view updated information about the game. We strongly encourage you to take the time to read this file in order to get the benefit of changes made after the manual went to print. Windows® users: To view this file, double-click on it in the Thomas New Line directory found on your hard drive (usually C:\Program Files\Infogrames\Thomas New Line). You can also view the ReadMe file by first clicking on the Start button on your Win98/Me/XP taskbar, then on Programs, then on Infogrames, then on Thomas New Line, then double-clicking on the ReadMe file item. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Windows® Operating System: Windows® 98/Me/XP Processor: Pentium® II 233 MHz or higher Memory: 32 MB RAM (64 MB for XP) Hard Disk Space: 85 MB Free CD-ROM Drive: 8X Speed Video: 2 MB Windows® 98/Me/XP-compatible SVGA video card* Sound: Windows® 98/Me/XP-compatible 16-bit sound card* DirectX®: DirectX® version 8.1 (included) or higher Mouse: Required * Indicates device should be compatible with DirectX® version 8.1 or higher. SETUP AND INSTALLATION 1. Start Windows® 98/Me/XP. 2. Insert Thomas and Friends - Building the New Line CD-ROM game disc into your CD-ROM drive. 3. If AutoPlay is enabled, a title screen should appear. Click on the Install button to install the game. If AutoPlay is not enabled, double-click on the "My Computer" icon on your Win98/Me/XP desktop. Next, double-click on your CD-ROM icon to launch the title screen and click on the Install button to install the game. If the install screen still does not appear at this point, locate the "setup.exe" file in the install folder of the game disc and double-click on it. 4. Follow the remainder of the on-screen instructions to finish installing Thomas and Friends - Building the New Line CD-ROM game. 5. Once installation is complete, double-click on the Thomas New Line game icon to start the game. Installation of DirectX® The Thomas and Friends - Building the New Line CD-ROM requires DirectX® 8.1 or higher in order to run. If you do not have DirectX® 8.1 or higher installed on your computer, click "Yes" when asked if you would like to install it. Uninstallation of the game The Install button on the title screen changes to Uninstall once the game has been installed. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall. If AutoPlay is not enabled, click on the Start button in your Windows® taskbar, then select Settings, then Control Panel, then click Add/Remove Programs. Select Thomas New Line from the list of programs, then click the Add/Remove button. Note: You must have Thomas and Friends - Building the New Line game disc in your CD-ROM drive to play. SOFTWARE TROUBLE SHOOTING 1) WIN95 WITHOUT DIRECT X -- If you have Win95 operating system without DirectX drivers (or if you have a version lower than DirectX 6.0), you'll be prompted to download DCOM after installing DirectX 8.0a and rebooting. Just follow the onscreen instructions for download and install. 2) If your Thomas New Line autorun screen displays as greyscale graphics instead of color graphics, you may choose to set your color settings to 16 bit color. Note that this will only affect the autorun screen, as the game sets to 16 bit automatically, so the in game graphics appear correctly. To change your settings on Windows 98 or Windows ME, go to StartMenu\Settings\Control Panel. Then click on the Display icon and then on the Settings tab, and then finally set the Color setting to High Color (16 bit). To change your color settings on Windows XP, go to Start Menu/Control Panel.
