TROUBLESHOOTING and FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS A) What is DirectX? DirectX is an application extension from Microsoft for improving the performance of Windows games. B) Reinstalling DirectX If you need to re-install DirectX for any reason, re-install Tonka Power Tools. You may also do this by running DXSETUP.EXE on the Tonka Power Tools CDROM. It is located in the DirectX sub-directory on the Tonka Power Tools CDROM. C) Why is Tonka Power Tools not running in full screen mode? This is caused by DirectX not being present or unavailable when the game starts. Run the Tonka Power Tools installation again which and select to re-install DirectX. There is also a DirectX diagnostic tool on the CDROM, also located in the DirectX sub-directory. D) My gameport is not in the back of my computer, the cable doesn't reach! There are some newer computers that have the gameport in the front of the computer instead of the common configuration at the rear of the computer. The cable supplied with the Tonka Power Tool splits into a connector for the gameport and a pass-through device for the monitor. The supplied cable is not long enough to reach the front gameport, and require a gameport extension cable which can be purchased at most computer stores or from computer supply sites on the internet. E)My Tonka Power Tool has problems recognizing anything on the screen other than the calibration screen. The Power Tool works best with the brightness and contrast of your monitor turned up. If you are experiencing any difficulty in using the Power Tool recognizing or affecting the program, please try adjusting your contrast and brightness so that your screen is brighter and contrasted. F) The Power Tool is designed to be used touching your computer screen. It has a Teflon(r) tip and a shock absorbing mechanism so that the glass of your screen is protected against damage. G) How do I exit the tutorial? To exit out of the tutorial, please press on the space bar of your keyboard. To access the tutorial after you've signed in, click on the "?" mark on the main Tonka Research Facility selection screen. H) I get the error sound when I try to click on objects in the Tonka Power Tools game. It's best to squeeze the Power Tool trigger when you see the graphic under the Power Tool tip get brighter. The locations in the game that require interaction with your Power Tool have a brighter state when the Power Tool "sees" them. For example, if you are trying to undo a bolt and you move your Power Tool directly over the bolt you will see the bolt gets brighter. I) Sometimes I'm having difficulties selecting an object in the game. If you are having difficulties selecting something on screen with the Power Tool, move your Power Tool up and down and across, the location you want to select. You should then easily get the brighter graphic, which means the Power Tool sees it. J) I'm having problems with graphics or sound. Many graphics or audio problems are caused by older graphics and sound drivers. If you're still experiencing graphics or audio problems, check for the latest drivers from your graphics or audio card manufacturer at their web site, or contact them directly. K) I cannot go into any of the activities from the navigation screen. What should I do? This can happen if the saved game file gets corrupted. The best thing to do is delete the saved game which is causing the problem. Start Tonka Power Tools, and once at the sign in screen, highlight the name and click the erase icon. Enter in your name again and sign in! L) How do I share the creations I made in Tonka Power Tools with friends? Your creations are saved in the 'Start Menu\Progams\Hasbro Interactive\Tonka Power Tools\Tonka Power Tool ImportExport' directory. They will be named 000.bmp ->014.bmp. Select the one you want and you can give this file to a friend in any way you want, by email or by floppy disk (or any other removable media.) To load a creation from a friend, copy the file into your 'Tonka Power Tool ImportExport\BUDDY' directory, and restart the game. Once you are in the game click on the printing building and then the "Buddy" picture. **************************************************************** LICENSE AGREEMENT *** IMPORTANT *** This is a legal agreement between the end user ("You") and Hasbro Interactive, Inc., its affiliates and subsidiaries (collectively "Hasbro Interactive").
