The Matrix Online (abbreviated as MxO) was a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) initially developed by Monolith Productions and later, a few months after launch, by Sony Online Entertainment. It was billed as a continuation of the storyline of The Matrix films, as The Wachowskis, the franchise’s creators, gave their blessing to the notion of gamers “inherit[ing] the storyline”. Sony Online Entertainment shut down operation of the game on July 31, 2009.

    Do you think there’s a way to play this game while being offline? First of all I thought that it was named Online because containing multiplayer mode (so online of course) and then, most important, that it could be played offline for story mode, why should I play online a game that has levels?
