No clue how active this thread still is but I got the game running perfectly fine outside of audio issues. I have seen users say that some sounds do not play, however my install has no sound entirely. It does not show up in audio manager. Has anyone else run into this issue?
here’s how i installed and made it work on my windows 10 computer:
step 1: extract the ZIP file into your Program Files (x86)
step 2: open C:\Program Files (x86)\American_McGees_Alice_Win_Preinstalled_EN\Game Files
step 3: run the “alice” application file as administrator
step 4: let it run, and enjoy the game!
Im having an issue where it said

Couldn’t load default.cfg
1) This should solve your installation issue…
you can usually fix this by deleting the “config.cfg”
file located in the BASE subdirectory where you installed Alice.
2)
Also make sure to install the game under your Programs files (86X) folder ; it should liike like this
(c:)//ProgramFiles(86X)/American_McGees_Alice_Win_Preinstalled_EN
This should solve the issue with character voices..
Follow these steps and you should be good to go …
