Get ready for fun-filled days at the beach with Barbie™ and her friends! Photograph underwater sea creatures, build amazing sandcastles, learn the latest
island dances, go surfing and more. Play exciting games to earn everything
needed for the greatest beach bash ever! Win tiki torches, beach umbrellas and
even the music for your party. Plus, choose the fashions for every event including
the Souvenir Photo Album, where you take the perfect photos of your vacation.

INSTALLING BARBIE™ BEACH VACATION™ CD-ROM
• Insert the Barbie™ Beach Vacation™ CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
• If the AutoRun feature is enabled for your CD-ROM, select Install from the
AutoRun screen.
• If AutoRun is not enabled, click Start and then Run from the Windows®
Taskbar.
• Type d:\Install (d: refers to your CD-ROM drive. If your CD-ROM drive is
not d, type the appropriate letter).
• Follow the installation instructions on screen.
• After installation is complete, you’ll find the Barbie™ Beach Vacation™ icon
in the Barbie™ Beach Vacation™ menu of your Barbie™ programs.

• Insert Barbie™ Beach Vacation™ CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
• If you have AutoRun enabled for your CD-ROM, click Play to run the
program.
• You can also click Start/Programs/Barbie™/Barbie™ Beach Vacation™
from the Windows® Taskbar.
• You can also click the Barbie™ Beach Vacation™ shortcut icon on your
desktop.

GETTING STARTED WITH BARBIE™ BEACH VACATION™
Signing In and Selecting Your Play Mode
To start a new game, type in your name and click the Arrow Button or press the
Enter Key on your keyboard. After you sign in, the Main Menu will appear.

Back Button: To leave the activity you are playing or return to the previous
screen at any time, click the Back Button in the upper left corner of the screen.
Help Button: If you want to hear the directions for any activity again, click the
Question Mark in the upper right corner of the screen.
You can bypass the directions at any time by clicking the right mouse button.
Souvenir Photo Album: Click on the Photo Album to see the photos you have
taken of Barbie™ and her friends. You can take photos of all your favorite places
and adventures as you play.

Activity Mode: Click on the items on the Beach Towel to play your favorite
activities in any order you like. When you are finished with an activity, click the
Back Button to choose a different activity.
Adventure Mode: Click on the Beach Bag to experience the vacation adventure
from beginning to end. When you go on an adventure with Barbie™ and her
friends, you’ll earn cool stuff for her big beach party. Look for tiny green bottles
throughout the adventure—they’re full of surprises!

• Click on the Pink Shell (on the left) to start a new adventure.
• Click on the Blue Shell (on the right) to continue with your last vacation
adventure.

ACTIVITIES AND ADVENTURES
Water-Ski Adventure
Join Barbie™ and Teresa™ as they
practice for the water-ski show.
Help Barbie™ hit the jumps, collect
the flags, and go through the gates
so she can win fun items for her
beach party. For even more fun,
have Barbie™ do show-stopping
tricks on her skis.
• Pick out the perfect water-ski
outfit for Barbie™ by clicking
on the outfits on the wall.
• Click the Continue Button in the lower right corner when you’re ready to ski.
• Use the mouse or the Arrow Keys on your keyboard to move Barbie™
from side to side.
• Ski over the buoys with flags to collect the flags.
• Ski between the gate flags to pass through a gate.
• Ski over a ramp to do a jump.
• Press the Spacebar or click the right mouse button to do cool tricks.
• The numbers in the lower right corner keep track of how many flags
you’ve collected, ramps you’ve hit, or gates you’ve gone through.
• Beat the final level where gates, jumps and flags all appear together!
• Click on the Question Mark if you want to hear the directions again.
• To exit the activity at any time, click the Back Button in the upper left
corner of the screen.

Underwater Photo Safari
Christie™ needs to fill the Island Scrapbook with photos of the island sea
creatures, but some of the animals are camera shy. With your help, maybe
Barbie™ can snap pictures of them.
• Pick out the perfect diving outfit for
Barbie™ by clicking on the outfits on the
wall.
• Use the mouse or Arrow Keys on your
keyboard to move Barbie™ around.
• Try to find the sea animals that match
the pink and white outlines along the
left side of the screen.
• When Barbie™ gets close to a creature she wants to photograph, press
the Spacebar or click the right mouse button to take the picture.
• Some creatures are really shy and hide when you swim by, so you’ll need
to move in close to get a good picture. When you get close to the animal,
you will have to move the camera around and snap the picture when you
see the animal in the camera lens.
• When you take a picture that is
needed for the Island Scrapbook, you
can view it right away. When you are
ready to take more pictures, click the
Continue Button.
• Keep exploring the underwater area
until you have found all the sea
creatures.

Sandcastle Contest
Building sandcastles is so much fun! Let’s enter a sandcastle contest, and design
and decorate the winning castle together!
• Pick out the perfect beach outfit
for Barbie™ by clicking on the
outfits on the wall.
• The toolbar on the bottom of the
screen has everything you need
to build the best sandcastle. You
can place these items anywhere
you want on your castle.
• In Adventure Mode, Barbie™ will
tell you which buckets to use to
build the castle. Choose the
correct buckets from the toolbar.
• There are flowers, flags, shells and other fun decorations. Click on the
decoration you want to use, then click on a location to place it.
• To remove a bucket of sand or a decoration from the castle, click on the
pink Shovel and then click on the item you want to remove.
• Click on the Sandcastle covered by the pink X to clear away your castle
and begin a new one.
• When you finish building your sandcastle, click on the Camera to take a
picture of your creation!
• Click on the Question Mark if you want to hear the directions again.
• To exit the activity at any time, click the Back Button in the upper left corner
of the screen.

Surfing the Waves
Surf’s up! Barbie™ is ready to
hang ten. All she needs to ride
the waves is a cool outfit and a
matching surfboard. Surfing is
easy…just follow the dolphins!
• Pick out the perfect surfing outfit for Barbie™ by clicking on the outfits on
the wall.
• Use the mouse or Arrow Keys on your keyboard to surf the waves.
• Press the Spacebar or click the right mouse button to do some awesome
surfing tricks.
• In Adventure Mode, try to do as many surfing tricks as possible and be
sure to pick up green bottles by surfing over them.
• Watch out for the buoys! If you hit one, you’ll lose a point!
• Click on the Question Mark if you want to hear the directions again.
• To exit the activity at any time, click the Back Button in the upper left corner
of the screen.

Dance Challenge
As the sun sets over the water,
it’s almost time for the big beach
bash. But what’s a party without
music and dancing? Barbie™
can’t wait for the fun to begin,
so c’mon let’s dance!
• Pick out a dance outfit for Barbie™. Each outfit is matched with a different
style of dancing. When you want Barbie™ to do a different dance and
listen to different music, click on another outfit.
• When the music plays, notes will bounce across the screen. You can help
Barbie™ dance better by clicking the mouse buttons at the right time.
• Click the left mouse button when notes bouncing in from the left reach the
left floor pad. Click the right mouse button when notes bouncing in from
the right reach the right floor pad.
• Click the Question Mark if you want to hear the directions again.
• To exit the activity at any time, click the Back Button in the upper left corner
of the screen.

Beach Party
It’s almost time for the beach party, but there’s still a lot to do! Barbie™ needs
your help to select the location for the party, choose the music and decorations,
plan the entertainment, and much more.
• Pick out the perfect party outfit for
Barbie™ by clicking on the outfits
on the wall.
• Click on the Map on the left side
of the screen to choose a location
for the party.
• Click on the Hearts to invite friends
to the party.
• Click on the Stereo to choose
music for the party.
• Click on the Stars, Balloons, or Beach Umbrella to decorate for the party.
• The toolbar on the bottom of the screen has everything you need to throw
a great party! For even more party items, click on the Arrow. Click to
select the party item then click anywhere on the screen to place it.
• To remove an item, click on the Broom, then click on the item to be removed.
• Click on the party friends covered by the pink X to clear away your party
and begin a new one.
• Click on the Camera to take a photo of all the fun.
• Click on the Continue Button when everything is ready for the party and
see Barbie™ and her friends’ party come to life!
• Click on the Question Mark if you’d like to hear the directions again.
• To exit the activity at any time, click the Back Button in the upper left corner
of the screen.

Souvenir Photo

Help Barbie™ and her friends
relive all the fun by taking their
picture at your favorite places on
the island. Select outfits for
Barbie™ and her friends, choose
the setting, and snap away!

Click on the Map to choose the location for the photo.
Click on the Hearts to add the friends whose picture you’d like to take.
When you select friends for the photo, you get to choose their outfits.
In the dressing room, click on the Clothes that you want your new friends
to wear, then click the Continue Button to return to the Photo Shoot.
Click on the Frame to choose a frame for your photo.
Click on the Continue Button to view your picture.
Click on the Camera to take the souvenir photo.
Click on the Photo with the pink X to erase the picture.
Click on the Question Mark if you’d like to hear the directions again.
To exit the activity at any time, click the Back Button in the upper left
corner of the screen.

Photo Album/Island Scrapbook
Each sandcastle creation,
beach party scene, and
souvenir photo you take are
saved in the photo album for
you to remember and enjoy.
• Click on the Arrow Buttons at the bottom of the screen to turn the pages of
the photo album.
• Use the mouse or the up and down Arrow Keys on your keyboard to select
a photograph.
• Click the left mouse button or press the Spacebar to get a close-up of a
selected photo.
• Click the right mouse button or press the Delete Key to remove a selected
photo from the album.
• Click the Back Button to close the photo album and go back to the Main
Menu.
