Overview
Every time of year is fun, especially for that lovable four-year-old, Caillou. Come join
him and his friends as they explore the four seasons.
From a winter wonderland to summertime fun, there are activities for each changing
season.
Discover letters, numbers, shapes and more! Build a snowman in winter or help Caillou
rake the colorful leaves of fall. Splash into summer or spring into playtime! Nature is
amazing.
What a joy!

Installation Instructions
NOTE: The Caillou – Four Seasons of Fun CD-ROM must be in your computer’s CDROM drive at all times during installation and gameplay.
Installing on Windows®
These instructions assume that the AutoPlay feature of Windows is turned on. (AutoPlay
is usually enabled when you install Windows on your computer. See your Windows
documentation for more information.)
1. Start Windows and insert the Caillou – Four Seasons of Fun CD-ROM into your
CD-ROM drive.
2. You will be asked if you want to install. Select YES and follow the on-screen
prompts. For systems without AutoPlay, choose RUN from the Start menu and
type d:\setup in the command line box, then click OK. (If your drive is not in d:,
substitute the correct drive letter.)
3. When installation is complete, the Options Screen appears. Select PLAY to begin
the game.
4. The installation process creates a shortcut in the Start menu that can be used to
start the program anytime the Caillou – Four Seasons of Fun CD-ROM is in the
CD-ROM drive.
Starting the Program
1. Insert the Caillou – Four Seasons of Fun CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
2. On systems with AutoPlay, the Caillou – Four Seasons of Fun Options screen
appears. Click PLAY to begin the game.
3. On systems without AutoPlay, go to the Start menu and choose the shortcut
(under PROGRAMS/THE LEARNING COMPANY/ Caillou - Four Seasons of
Fun).
4. The Options Screen appears. From the Options Screen, you can access all the
components on the CD.
Installing and Starting the Program on a Macintosh®
1. Insert the Caillou – Four Seasons of Fun CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive,
and the CD window will open on the screen.
2. Double-click on the Caillou – Four Seasons of Fun icon in the open window. If
this is the first time you are using the Caillou – Four Seasons of Fun program,
any system extensions needed by your computer will be installed.

Playing The Game
To start Caillou – Four Seasons of Fun, you must first sign in. Type your name either
with your computer keyboard or by using your mouse to click the letters on the screen.
Then click the green PLAY button.
If you have already signed in, highlight your name by clicking on it, and then click the
green PLAY button. Your game will continue from where you left off.

Exploring Caillou – Four Seasons of Fun
Once you have signed in, you will be asked to choose a season to play in. Once the
season has been chosen, you will have to help Caillou get dressed for the season (See
Dress Caillou).
Once Caillou is dressed, you will be taken to Caillou’s neighborhood. Explore the
neighborhood by clicking on the blue arrows that appear when you place your mouse on
the sides of your screen.
As you explore, you can play activities by clicking on objects. You can also pick up
hidden items for your nature book by clicking on them.

Collecting Nature Book Items
There are two ways to collect items for your nature book.
After successfully completing an activity, you will be presented with a nature book item.
You can also click on hidden items around the neighborhood to add them to your book.
Once you have completed all the activities for all the seasons, you will be able to print
your very own copy of the nature book.
If you want to check which items you still need to collect for your nature book, just click
on the picture of a book on the bottom of your screen.

Game Instructions
Dress Caillou
Before you can start exploring the neighborhood with Caillou, you must first help him get
dressed in the appropriate clothes for the season.
Whenever the closet doors open, click on the piece of clothing that is most suitable for
the weather outside.
Keep choosing clothes until Caillou is dressed to go outside.

Picture Perfect
What’s a snowman doing on the lawn in the middle of summer?
Something’s wrong with the picture. Click on all the things that belong in different
seasons until you’ve made the picture perfect for the season you have chosen.

Level Two: Four things out of ten don’t belong.
Level Three: Four things out of twelve don’t belong.

Race Along
Caillou is enjoying some exercise in the fresh air, but he needs your help to get to Daddy
who is waiting for him at the end of the path.
Whenever Caillou encounters an obstacle on the path, help him get around it by clicking
on the over, under, or around buttons.
The timer tells you how long it takes to get to the end of the path. See if you can beat
your fastest time.

Level One: There are seven obstacles on the path. Caillou will stop at each obstacle
and suggest how to get past it.
Level Two: There are ten obstacles on the path. Caillou will suggest how to get past
the obstacle, but he won’t stop when he reaches it.
Level Three: There are fifteen obstacles on the path. Caillou won’t stop or suggest
how to get past the obstacle.

Bouncin’ Ball
You and Caillou can throw the ball at the wall in this game of rhyming.
Listen to the word Caillou says, then click on the word on the wall that rhymes with it.
Caillou will throw the ball at the word you select and let you know if it rhymes.
If you need to hear Caillou say the words out loud, just roll over them with your mouse.

Snowman Builder
Help Caillou make a snowman that looks exactly like Daddy’s.
When you see something on the ground that Daddy has used on his snowman, click on it
– then click on your snowman.
When you think you have matched Daddy’s snowman exactly, click on the “match”
button to see if you’re right.

Level One: All the pieces on the ground belong on your snowman.
Level Two: There are extra pieces on the ground that don’t belong on your snowman.
Level Three: Look closely because the pieces on the ground are all very similar.

See Saw Fun
Caillou and his friends want to make the see saw balance. Can you help them by placing
the right friends on the sides of the see saw?
Click on a friend from the side and then click on the see saw to place that person on it.
Click on a friend who is on the see saw to take them off.

Level One: Click on someone from the side and add them to the see saw by clicking
on it. The number near the person shows you how much they weigh.
Level Two: You can add people to the see saw AND take them away by clicking on
them.
Level Three: Make sure both sides of the see saw match the big number on your
screen.

Spelling Playground
Help Caillou rake a path through the playground.
Click on the correct letters he calls out, starting from the letter that is closest to him.
Once you’ve clicked on all the correct letters, Caillou will rake up the leaves to make a
path.

Level One: Caillou will call out a letter. Click on it every time you see it, starting
with the letter that is closest to Caillou.
Level Two: Caillou will call out a word that is three–four letters long. Click on the
letters that spells that word in the right order.
Level Three: Caillou will call out a word that is five–seven letters long. Click on the
letters that spells that word in the right order.

Story Sorter
Help Caillou put the pictures in the correct order so they tell a little story.
Click on a picture and then click on the space it belongs in, so the story makes sense from
left to right.
The game is over when you have sorted three stories into the correct order.

Technical Notes
Installation
For two ROM drives (CD, CDR, DVD)
The Caillou – Four Seasons of Fun program requires installation on your master drive.
If you have two ROM drives, (CD and CDR for example) and the QuickTime™ or
Adobe®\ Acrobat™ Reader does not install, please uninstall the Caillou - Four Seasons of
Fun program and place the CD-ROM in the opposite drive. The installation should start
automatically. Since the installation windows overlap, make sure that you do not cancel
the installation by closing the windows.
When installing Caillou – Four Seasons of Fun:
Make sure that you do not restart your computer until all of the components are installed.
The Adobe Acrobat 5.0 requests that the computer be restarted to complete installation.
This is not necessary. Restart after all applications are installed.
If you have audio problems with Caillou – Four Seasons of Fun
Windows 95 – 98:
Go to Control Panel and open the QuickTime applet and make sure that it is version 4.1.2
or higher. Select the Sound Out option from the pulldown menu by clicking the down
arrow (About QuickTime). Change the device for playback setting from Direct Sound to
waveOut. Close all windows.
For Windows Me:
Open Control Panel and make sure that you are able to view all control panel options. (If
you see more than ten icons, you have this option selected.) Double-click the blue
QuickTime icon. When the QuickTime window appears, make sure that it is version 4.1.2
or higher. Click the arrow at the top of the window (about QuickTime) and select
Sound Out. Change the device for playback from Direct Sound to waveOut (Windows
preferred device).

If you have video problems with Caillou – Four
Seasons of Fun
Windows 95–98:
Note: The opening videos may be slightly blurry during some fast movements. The video
quality is improved for the rest of the game.
If the activity screens are not colored properly.
Make sure that the computer is set to at least High Color 16-bit. To change the display
settings, follow the instructions below.
To Change Display Settings:
To change the display settings on your computer, make sure that you have the computer
set to High Color 16-bit, not 256 colors. To do this, open Control Panel and double-click
the Display icon. Select the Settings tab and change the colors setting from its current
selection to High Color 16-bit by clicking the arrow and selecting the option from the
pulldown list.
For Windows Me:
If you have a multi-colored screen in the upper-left corner of the monitor when running
the program, please do the following:
Open Control Panel and make sure that you are able to view all Control Panel options. (If
you see more than ten icons, you have this option selected.) Double-click the blue
QuickTime icon. When the QuickTime window appears, make sure that it is version 4.1.2
or higher and click the down arrow at the top of the window (about QuickTime) and
select Video Settings. Remove the check to the left of Enable DirectDraw Acceleration.
For Mac OS X
Follow these steps to start up the computer using Mac OS 9.1 or later:
1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple Menu.
2. Click the Startup Disk icon.
3. Select the Mac OS 9.1 System Folder.
4. Restart the computer.
