What to do if you have a problem

In the event of you having any problems with Davilex software
use Davi-Service. Davi-Service is a program specifically designed
to help with your support needs and answering any questions
you may have. If the problem persists you can use Davi-Service
to create a report to send to the helpdesk. The helpdesk can
be contacted via e-mail, (receiving priority handling) post or
fax. The address and faxnumber for the helpdesk can be found
in Davi-Service.

During the installation of your Davilex product, Davi-Service
is automatically installed on your hard disk. Click on the Start
button, select Programs then Davilex and finally, choose
Davi-Service.

Troubleshooting
London Racer help file
If you are experiencing problems installing or using the
software:
• Make sure your hardware corresponds with the system
requirements.
• Make sure you have read the installation procedure
thoroughly.
• Make sure the CD is in the CD-ROM player.
• Video problems : Make sure you have selected the correct
video mode (see options : settings).
• Sound problems: are all the volumes turned on?
(see options : settings).
• For more information open the London Racer help file.
(see London Racer help file).
• Last minute changes can be found in the London Racer
readme file. (see London Racer readme file).
• Open Davi-Service. (see Davi-Service) .
If you still experience problems installing or using the software
please open the London Racer help file, installed on your
computer. To find the London Racer help file:
1.Open the Windows Explorer.
2.Double-click on the folder ‘Program Files’.
3.Double-click on the folder ‘Davilex’.
4.Double-click on the folder ‘London Racer’.
5.Double-click on the file ‘readme.hlp’.
Help will now appear.
6.Choose a topic.

Any last minute changes or remarks in the London Racer are
kept in the file ‘readme.txt’.
1.Open the Windows Explorer.
2.Double-click on the folder ‘Program Files’.
3.Double-click on the folder ‘Davilex’.
4.Double-click on the folder ‘London Racer’.
5.Double-click on the file ‘readme.txt’.
The readme file will now be opened.

Spectacular racing in and around London!
The London Racer organisation has been holding illegal races throughout
the UK year after year. Just like the very first London race ever held,
the start and finish of these races are traditionally somewhere on the
M25. The other tracks are kept secret until
moments before the race. You must
prove yourself in all three leagues.
Winning the tracks will earn you
better cars with which you may

Installing the game
Playing the game
Place the London Racer CD in the computer and follow the
instructions. If the installation doesn’t start automatically,
follow the instructions below.
The game starts in the Race Menu, here you can choose a
Race type.
Time trial Single race for the best lap times.
Sunday cup Single race against opponents.
Tournament Divided in three leagues. Your goal is to finish
first in all the leagues and earn the title
of London Racer.
1.Go to the icon ‘This Computer’ on your desktop.
2.Open this item by double-clicking the icon.
3.Double-click on the icon of the CD-ROM player
(usually D:\).
4.Double-click on the file ‘setup.exe’.
Now the installation of London Racer will start.
Please follow the instructions of the setup program.
During the setup London Racer creates an icon on your desktop.
This is called a link. Double-click on the icon on your desktop
to start London Racer.

Set the video mode to ‘3D accelerated’ if you own a 3D graphics
card. (see options: settings)

Video settings
Here are three video modes to choose from, depending on
your hardware. If you own a video card with 3D acceleration,
please select the ‘3D accelerated’ mode manually. Default
video mode is set to ‘Software 640x480’.
Starting London Racer
1.Click the Start Button.
2.Go to the folder ‘Programs’.
3.Go to the folder ‘Davilex’.
4.Click on the London Racer icon.
The program will now start.

Player Menu
In this screen you can enter a new player, save a game or load
a new game.
Basic controls
See options for custom controls.
Accelerate : up arrow
Brake
: down arrow
Left
: left arrow
Right
: right arrow
Handbrake : alt
Horn
: space
Turbo
: ctrl
Camera
:1 - 4
Toggle Overlay : D
New player : starts a new game.
Save
: saves your current game data.
Load
: loads a saved game.
Delete
: deletes a saved game.
Change name : changes your player name.
This game automatically saves the current user data.
Each time you restart the London Racer, you will return in the
last user game. Using the manual save option gives you the
chance to save your current status.
Help
In the London Racer you
can ask for two kinds
of help.
Help
This help gives you a list of topics on which help is available.
Context help
When selecting the context help, the cursor will change into
a question mark. When you click on an item on the screen
with this question mark, help on this item will appear.

Options
Controls Menu
You can choose the type of controller you want to use.
Configure : Customise keys. With this option you can
redefine the keys to be used in the race.
Sensitivity : Sets the steer sensitivity. Less sensitivity gives
you direct steering action. More sensitivity
gives you smoother steering action.
Showroom
When you have earned enough money, you will be able
to buy a new car in the showroom. You can check the
car’s performance by looking at the performance bars.
They are divided in:
• top speed
• acceleration
• handling

tip: using the horn makes
the traffic shift lane, very
handy if you’re in a hurry
to get through.
Time trial
Here you can try to break qualification times to win a bonus
car, set the fastest lap times or practice without any traffic.
Selecting a car
First select a league, this determines the type of car you
can race with: small-, sports- or race car. Then select a car.
Selecting a track
Select a track with the track selection buttons.
Winning a bonus car
Whenever you break a qualification time, a picture of a
clock appears next to the track. Break all qualification
times and you win the bonus car.
Sunday Cup
Here you can choose your track and race a single race
against opponents in the Sunday cup.
Selecting a car
First select a league, this determines the type of car you
can race with: small-, sports- or race car. Then select a car.
Selecting a track
Select a track with the track selection buttons.
Bonus car
Whenever you finish first, a gold cup appears next to the
track, collect all gold cups to win the bonus car.

Police : sets the volume of the in-game police speech.
Music : sets the volume of the in-game music.
Effects : sets the volume of the in-game sound effects.

On screen information
Hall of Fame
The tournament is divided in 3 leagues.
Win a league to unlock the next one.
League 1
‘Small car league’, racing in this league will seperate the pro’s
from the beginners.
‘3…2…1…GO’ and you’re off. During the race you will
have all necessary information on screen.
Lap info: displays your lap times.
Lap record: the lap record for this track.
Position: your current race position
Turbo: amount of nitro oxygen left.
Speed: current speed in mph.
Radar: displays your position, and the position of your opponents.
Whenever you finish a race with a new fastest lap record
you will enter the Hall of Fame. You can always visit the
Hall of Fame via the result screen.
League 2
‘Luxury sport car league’, challenge extremely skilled opponents
in very fast and expensive cars.
Results 2
League 3
‘GT race car league’, it’s the ultimate challenge against the
elite of the organisation, in sensational dream cars.
This screen shows your personal results for this track.
• Your lap times for this track.
• Total time for this track.
• Earned prize money.
• Bonus money.
• Total money.
police: they will try to stop you and use force if they have
to. If you get a warning you will lose valuable time, get 3
warnings and you’re under arrest.

Composite
When you have finished a race you will automatically enter
the results screen, this screen shows:
• The finishing results of all racers.
• The league points of all racers.
This is the place to be if you want to repair your car or buy
an upgrade. You can also select one of the other cars you
already own.
Tune up
Enhance your car’s top speed, acceleration and handling.
Repair damage
Any damage taken during a race can be repaired in the garage.
Sell car
You can sell one of your cars for it’s current value.
