Installation / Use Instructions
About GameSpy Comrade
GameSpy Comrade is a desktop application that allows you to build buddy lists, send
and receive messages with your friends, launch games, and follow your friends onto
dedicated multiplayer game servers. It is resource conscious, and small enough to
keep running all the time.
Installing Comrade
1) Double click on the Comrade installer included in the GameSpy Comrade
folder on your CD/ DVD for The Mark.
2) Follow the GameSpy Comrade installation prompts to complete the
installation process.
3) Once installed, Comrade will walk you through a few quick setup steps:
a. Enter a valid e-mail address and a memorable password to set up a
new account
b. If you have used GameSpy Products (like GameSpy Arcade) before,
you can enter your account information and retrieve your GameSpy ID
account settings.
c. Set privacy settings appropriately based on the amount of information
that you want your buddies to see when viewing your profile
information in Comrade.

Like your online games, GameSpy Comrade requires a free flow of data
between your PC and the Internet. In order to preserve your security and use
Comrade properly, be sure to configure your router or firewall to either
designate Comrade as “unblocked” or refer to your router / firewall’s
instruction book to manually open the following TCP ports:

Using Comrade
1) How to Launch a Game
a. Launch & log in to GameSpy Comrade
b. Click on the “Launch” tab to reveal the Game Management menu
c. Locate the game you want to play by dragging your mouse over the
list of game icons
d. Click the “Launch” button next to the game that you want to play
e. Comrade will launch the game you have selected
2) How To Add Buddies to your “Comrades” List
a. Launch and log into GameSpy Comrade
b. Click on the “Comrades” tab to bring up your buddy list
c. Launch the “Find Comrade” tool by …
i. Clicking on the “+” symbol on the Comrades tab
ii. Hit “Ctrl + A”
iii. Right-click anywhere on the buddy list
iv. Select “Add Comrade’ from the “Actions” menu
d. Search for your comrade by entering any combination of first name,
last name, e-mail address or nickname
e. You can also use GameSpy Comrade’s unique “BuddySync” feature to
locate buddies that you have in common with your instant messaging
programs. Simply enable BuddySync during installation or turn it on by
selecting Options → General → Enable Buddy Sync. Once enabled,
BuddySync will locate any of your buddies on other instant messaging
programs who also use Comrade. When it detects a buddy in common,
it will prompt you to add them to your Comrade buddy list.
3) How To Message a Buddy
a. Launch and log into GameSpy Comrade
b. Click on the “Comrades” tab to bring up the buddy list
c. Message comrade by …
i. Double clicking on their name on the buddy list
ii. Dragging your mouse down the buddy list, selecting a buddy,
and clicking the “Send Message” button
iii. Right clicking on a buddy’s name and selecting “Send Message”
from the contextual menu
4) How To Follow a Buddy into a Game
a. Launch and log into GameSpy Comrade
b. Click on the “Comrades” tab to bring up the buddy list
c. Scan the buddy list for buddies whose location is listed as a game
name (for example: Buddy A: The Mark)
d. Click on the name of the game next to your buddy’s name to launch
the game and join them on a server
e. Comrade will also notify you with temporary desktop messages
whenever a buddy launches a game. You can click on these “One-click
Join” messages to instantly follow the buddy into the game.
