MAIN MENU
When the game has loaded you will be given the options, Start
Game, Options or Quit. Make your choice by pressing the letter
on the keyboard corresponding to the orange letter in your
selected option, or by using the mouse pointer to click on the
option. Next you’ll be asked HOW MANY PLAYERS want to play?
If you select one player you go straight in. Only games with
more than one player offer different game types. These are
Fastest Finger, Team and Head to Head Games.

Options Screen
Contains - Continue, Restore, Main Menu and Volume Control

Pause Menu
(Accessed by pressing ESC key during hotseat section)
Contains - Continue, Restore, Main Menu and Volume Control

Ask The Audience lifeline (F3)
Finally you have The Ask The Audience lifeline. We
conducted a poll of 100 people selected at random.
We asked them what they thought the answer to
each question would be. If you choose to ask the
audience you’ll see the results of that poll. Again the
answer may be wrong!

Walk Away
At any time you can choose to stop and walk away and keep the money you’ve won up to
that point. To walk away, just press the W key on the keyboard or click on the Walk Away
symbol with the mouse.

LIFELINES

ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS

If you get stuck you have three lifelines to help, 50:50, Phone-A-Friend and Ask The
Audience. You can use these at any time by hitting the appropriate key; F1 for 50:50, F2 for
Phone-A-Friend and F3 for Ask The Audience, or by clicking on the appropriate lifeline
symbol with the mouse.

Ok, here’s how it works. There are fifteen
questions that will take you, the contestant from
a virtual £100 to £1,000,000. Each question
comes with four possible answers to choose
from. Press the letter of your selection on the
keyboard to give your answer, or just click on the
answer on-screen. If you’re correct you’ll win the
£ value of that question and move on to the next
level. There are two milestone levels, at £1,000
and £32,000. Reach these and you’re
guaranteed to leave with that amount, even if
you give a wrong answer later on. But remember
that as you answer the fifteen questions to reach
a million pounds, the money goes up steeply but
so do the drops.

50:50 lifeline (F1)
If you choose the 50:50 lifeline, the computer will
take away two wrong answers leaving the correct
answer and one remaining wrong answer. To pick your
answer from those remaining, just hit the letter of
your selection on the keyboard or click on the answer
as normal.

Phone-A-Friend lifeline (F2)
If you choose the Phone-A-Friend lifeline, Chris will
call one of ten specially selected friends and ask
them for help. It’s your choice as to whether their
answer is used. It may be wrong!

You can choose to ‘Walk Away’ at any time and
keep the money you have accumulated.

MULTIPLAYER GAME TYPES
Fastest Finger
If more than one player wants to play Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, the
players will have to compete in a Fastest Finger round. Each of the
players needs to pick a key on the keyboard to use as their
personal buzzer. Players will then attempt to put a list of
answers to a question in the correct order. The answers will
rotate in a random way. When the player is happy with the
on-screen order they must buzz in. The fastest correct
player will be the contestant in the hotseat. If players get
the answer wrong their key is locked out until either
someone gets it right or all contestants have pressed
their keys.

Team Game
Team Play allows a family or group to put their heads
together and co-operate to achieve that elusive
£1,000,000. Control of the game will rotate around the team
of players, allowing everyone to take a turn to input the answer.

Head to Head
In this mode the Hotseat is passed between contestants to play in turn
against each other, seeing who can race highest up the prize
escalator.
Each player takes it in turn to answer a question. Each
contestant will get a question for £100. Those that get it right
will go through to the next round for £200, and so on until
there’s only one player in the running for the cool million.
Players are eliminated when a question is answered
incorrectly, the player can also choose to walk away at
any time and keep the money already won. The last
remaining player will keep going until they give Chris a
wrong answer or they decide to walk away. Don’t forget
that giving Chris a wrong answer will mean the player drops
back significantly, and could let an opponent catch up. So be
careful. Remember, it’s only easy if you know the answer!
