Thank you for purchasing 3D Scooter Racing. This file contains information on
installation instructions, gameplay controls, optimizing 3D Scooter Racing for
your system, contact information, and other important topics.

IMPORTANT: 3D Scooter Racing can utilize the power of a variety of machines,
from a Pentium II 266 mhz with Direct X 5 with no 3D hardware, to today's high performance
machines with a fast 3D card. It is VERY important you adjust the setting to match your
particular machine. Please read the Optimization category below.

********* Contact information

Web site address: www.3DGameArena.com.

If you need technical support you may contact us through or web site or
call 818 757-0858.

IMPORTANT: When playing 3D Scooter Racing using your keyboard, be careful
not to press Windows keys, like alt-tab, control-escape, the Window key, etc..
If you do, you will exit 3D Scooter Racing improperly. If this occurs
you will be back to Windows and see the 3D Scooter Racing task button
at the bottom. To correct this:

Wait about 30 seconds for Windows to recognize the program is not responding.

Press CTRL+ALT+DEL

In the Close Program dialog box, click 3D Scooter Racing, and then click End Task.

Restart 3D Scooter Racing in the normal manner.

********* Installation Instructions

If installation program does not start automatically.

  Click the Start button on your Windows 95/98 Taskbar, then click Run and type
  in the following:  d:Setup
  If your cdrom drive letter is not d, replace it with the appropriate drive
  letter (ie: e:Setup). If you are not sure what your cdrom drive letter is
  you can find it by clicking Browse in the Run dialog box

Next simply follow the onscreen instructions. The setup will ask you if you want
to install Direct X 5. If you have an older version of Direct X say yes and push
the button Reinstall Direct X which will appear at the end of the installation.

IMPORTANT:
After installation is complete the 3D Scooter Racing CD-ROM must remain in the

Racing by clicking on it from your programs menu.

*** Option Descriptions

* Video Mode

Switches between High & Low resolutions
Low resolutions help increase framerate.

* View Distance

Sets how far into the distance the player can see.
The further out the slower the framerate.

* 3D Hardware

Turns 3D hardware on and off.
IMPORTANT: Player must completely exit game and
start it again for the new 3D hardware setting to
take effect.

* Scenery Detail

Sets low, medium, or high detail. These settings
dramatically affect framerate and required system
and video memory.

* Joystick

Turns joystick on or off.

IMPORTANT: If joystick does not turn on or
player turns sharply to one side while playing
game please be sure joystick is calibrated
and set to controller ID 1 in the
Windows/Control Panel/Game Controllers setup.

* Audio

Turns sound on or off

* Background

Switches between 2D or 3D background.

For systems with 3D hardware, 3D backgrounds are
usually faster. For systems with no 3D hardware,
2D backgrounds are faster.

* Number of Opponents

Sets the number of computer based opponents.
The fewer the opponents the faster the framerate.

* Level of Difficulty

Sets the difficulty level to Normal, Advanced, or Expert.

* Fog

Sets fog to Off, Normal, Dense or Dynamic.

Dynamic fog changes density as player proceeds
down track.

For night racing fog works the same but the fog
color is black making the scenery fade into darkness.

* Character Detail

Switches between Low or High character detail.

IMPORTANT: Setting detail to high DRAMATICALLY slows down
framerate.

********* Important Notes

  Certain settings in the options menu may or may not be adjustable
  depending on whether your video/3d card can support that feature.

  If you do not have a 3D card there are features in the game that will
  be missing. Some of these features are:

  Texture Filtering
  Fog
  Transparent Water
  3D Background
  Transparent textures

********* Gameplay Controls.

Press F2 to change camera views.

For future gameplay references you may also select the help option on the
3D Scooter Racing main menu.

  Joystick:
    Move joystick left or right to turn. Press fire button 1 to tuck for
    increased speed. Press fire button 2 to jump obstacles.

    When jumping off jump ramps move joystick left or right to perform mid air spins.

  Keyboard:
    Use left or right arrow keys to turn. Press control key to tuck for
    increased speed. Press space bar to jump obstacles.

    When jumping of jump ramps press left or right arrow key to perform mid air spins.

********* Gameplay Notes

* When coming upon a jump, give your self time to get a straight approach.

* Tucking increases speed which you must do to make the jumps and beat the
   opponents.

* Player must jump off of jump ramp by pressing fire button 2 or pressing
  space bar to successfully complete objective.

* Level 2 tracks contain "Time Extended Rings" which player must jump through
  for additional gameplay time.

* When in a tuck position your movement is restricted. Since the controls
    are less sensitive this is a good way to fine tune your heading,
    which is necessary for jumping.

* If you get stuck or you're having a bad run just press escape to retry
    from the beginning.

* Direct 3D does some initialization on the data before the game starts.
  Please wait for data to load and be initialized.
