Please read this document. It provides important
information regarding ARA NGC 6397 that wasn't available

(A) Improving the performance of ARA NGC 6397
========================================
The performance of any CD-ROM application is
greatly affected by the speed of your computer,
the speed of your CD-ROM drive, and the amount
of RAM your system has available.
To enjoy ARA NGC 6397 at its very best,
H+a recommends running this game at least on
a Pentium P90 machine with 16mb RAM memory,
plenty of free hard drive space, and equipped
with a QUAD (4x) speed CDROM drive. For maximum
enjoyment your system should also have a video
card capable of high color settings, and it
should have a minimum of 2mb of video memory.
(B) Notes on video card color settings
======================================
If you're experiencing quality problems with
graphics or animation's/video playback with
ARA NGC 6397, it could be due to your
video card color settings. This game requires
your video card to be set to 16 bit color
(thousands of colors) or higher to look its
best. Note that some video cards are only
capable of displaying high color when they
are set to use lower screen resolutions such
as 640x480. To see if your card is capable of
high color, and for more information on how to
adjust the color settings, please consult the
documentation provided with your video card, or
your Windows online help guide.
(C) Troubleshooting
===================
In order to display and play the sophisticated
sounds and animations, this application makes
use of Microsoft DirectX drivers for sound and
video functions. If you seem to be having
troubles such as stuttering sounds or bad
screen refresh, please try reinstalling the
DirectX drivers.
(see below for further information)
1. DirectX Driver Notes
-----------------------
To reinstall DirectX:
-Locate and double click the REDIST directory
on your ARA NGC 6397 disk.
-Double click on the DIRECTX subdirectory
-Locate and double click the DXSETUP.EXE file
to start the reinstall of the DirectX driver
files.
Note that when the main DirectX setup dialog box
appears on screen, it will display information
regarding your systems compatibility with
DirectX drivers. If you require technical
support for sound or video related issues,
please make note of the information displayed
in this box.
2. Sound
--------
If you're experiencing any sound problems with
ARA NGC 6397, contact the manufacturer of
your sound card to make sure you have the
latest drivers for your sound card. Note that
your sound drivers should be Microsoft DirectX
compatible. If you still have difficulties
after installing the latest drivers, and your
sound card is working with other Windows 95
applications, please contact H+a Technical
Support.
3. Video
--------
If you're experiencing any problems with
graphics or animation's/video playback with
ARA NGC 6397, contact the manufacturer of
your video card to make sure you have the
latest drivers for your video card. Note that
your video drivers should be Microsoft DirectX
compatible.If you still have difficulties
after installing the latest drivers, please
contact H+a Technical Support.
4. Out Of Memory Error starting game
------------------------------------
The sophisticated nature of this Win95 game can
sometimes cause your system to display out of
memory errors when starting or playing the game.
The reason for these messages can be due to the
fact that your system may not have enough free
hard drive space available for Windows 95 to use
as a virtual memory swap file. If you have the
minimum required RAM memory installed on your
system, this temporary swap file that Windows 95
creates and manages can sometimes require
upwards of 30MB of free hard drive space while
the game is running. If you are experiencing
this type of problem, please make sure that you
have adequate free space available on your hard
drive while the game is in use. For further
information please read the Virtual Memory
Settings section in your Windows 95 online help.
5. CDROM not in drive error
---------------------------
Please note that when you start ARA NGC 6397,
the game checks the directory path where
you installed the game to find the CDROM disk.
If you have a system with more than one CDROM
drive, you must insert the disk in the drive that
was used to do the initial installation. If you
have changed your CDROM drive letter since you
installed ARA NGC 6397, you should reinstall
the game in order to update the path information.
(D) Removing ARA NGC 6397 from your system
===============================================
Windows 95
In order to remove this application from your
system, select "Uninstall Ara" from the
"H+a\Ara" program folder in the start menu.
(E) Saving and Loading the game
==================================
There are three levels to the game ARA. When you
complete level 1, the computer will automatically
save a file called "Levels.dat" in the directory
in which you installed the game.
Once this file has been saved, the Teleport function
is enabled (press the F1 key). On launching the
game the next time, you may Teleport directly to
level 2. The same is true for finishing level 2
and Teleporting directly to level 3.
If the F1 key does not work, it means that you
have not yet reached the end of level 1. If level
3 is not available (greyed out) on the Teleport
dialog, it means you have not yet reached the
end of level 2.
If you would like to prevent other users of
your computer from Teleporting to levels 2 or 3,
simply move the file "Levels.dat" to another
directory or to a floppy disk.

PRODUCT. BY YOUR USAGE OF THIS PRODUCT YOU AGREE TO
BE BOUND BY THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS LICENSE.
IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF
THIS LICENSE, YOU SHOULD RETURN THE PRODUCT AND ALL
ACCOMPANYING ITEMS (INCLUDING ALL WRITTEN MATERIALS)
TO THE PLACE YOU OBTAINED THEM WITHIN 10 DAYS OF
PURCHASE FOR A FULL REFUND.
1. GRANT OF LICENSE: I. HOFFMANN + ASSOCIATES INC.
("H+a") provides you with the non-exclusive right to
use the enclosed copy of the software program (the
"Software"), user manual and accompanying printed
materials (the "Documents") (together called the
"Product") pursuant to the terms of this Agreement.
H+a reserves all rights not expressly granted under
this Agreement.
2. COPY AND USE RESTRICTIONS:
You may:
a) use the Software for your own personal use and you
may use one copy of the Product on a single terminal
connected to a single computer;
b) make one copy of the Software for backup or archival
purposes only;
c) transfer the Software from one computer to another
provided that the Software is used on only one at a time.
You may transfer the Product provided that you assign the
Software (including upgrades and prior versions), all
Documents and all your rights under this Agreement on a
permanent basis, you cease all use of the Software and
delete the set up file from your computer and the
recipient agrees to the terms of this Agreement.
d) If the Product is an upgrade from a previous version,
you may use or transfer the product only in conjunction
with the upgraded product, unless it is destroyed. If the
product is an upgrade from a H+a product, you may only use
the upgraded product in accordance with this Agreement.
You may not:
a) use or copy the Product except as permitted in this
Agreement;
b) network the Product or otherwise use it on more than
one computer or computer terminal at the same time;
c) distribute copies of the Product to others;
d) rent or lease the Product;
e) sell, assign or transfer the Product except as set out
above;
f) reverse engineer, disassemble, decompile, modify, adapt,
translate or create derivative works based on the Product;
g) remove or obscure any copyright or trademark notices.
3. COPYRIGHT: The Software, including any images, photographs,
animation, video, audio, music and text incorporated in the
Software, and the Documents are protected by copyright and
international treaty provisions. You may be held legally
responsible for any copying or copyright infringement which
is caused or encouraged by your failure to abide by the terms
of these restrictions.
4. TERMINATION: This license is effective until terminated.
This license will terminate automatically without notice from
H+a if you fail to comply with any provision of this agreement.
Upon termination you shall destroy all copies of the Software
and all Documents. All provisions of the Agreement as to
warranties, limitation of liability, remedies or damages, and
our ownership rights shall survive termination.
5. 90 DAY WARRANTY: H+a warrants that the storage media on
which the Software is delivered will be free of substantial
errors or defects in materials and workmanship under normal
use and service for a period of 90 days from original retail
purchase. This policy applies to the initial purchaser only.
No other advertising, description or representation, whether
made by a H+a dealer, distributor, agent or employee, shall
be binding upon H+a or shall change the terms of this warranty.
H+a's entire liability and your exclusive remedy will be, at
H+a's option, either (a) return of the price paid or (b) repair
or replacement of the storage media that does not meet the
Limited Warranty and that is returned with a copy of your
receipt. This Limited Warranty is void if failure has resulted
from accident, abuse, or misapplication. This warranty gives
you specific legal rights and you may have other legislated
rights which vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.
6. LIMITATION OF WARRANTIES AND LIABILITY: EXCEPT FOR THE
EXPRESS WARRANTY ABOVE, THE PRODUCT IS PROVIDED 'AS IS' AND
WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO
THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMISSIBLE PURSUANT TO APPLICABLE LAW,
H+a DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING,
BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND
FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
You assume the entire risk as to the results and performance
of the Product. Subject to applicable law, under no
circumstances will H+a (or its suppliers, dealers, agents,
directors, officers, employees or contractors) be liable for
any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages
whatsoever that result from the use of, or the inability to
use, the Product (including lost profits or revenues, lost
or damaged data or other economic loss) even if H+a has been
advised or is aware of the possibility of such damages or for
claims by a third party.
In no event shall H+a's (or its suppliers' or dealers') total
liability to you for all damages, losses, and causes of action
exceed the amount paid by you for this Product. The limitations
in this section shall apply whether or not the alleged breach
or default is a breach of a fundamental condition or term or a
fundamental breach. Because some jurisdictions do not allow the
exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages,
so the above limitations may not apply to you.
7. EXPORT LAW ASSURANCES: You may not use or otherwise export
or reexport the Software except as authorized by United States
law and the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Software was
obtained. In particular, but without limitation, none of the
Software may be used or otherwise exported or reexported
(i) into (or to a national or resident of) a United States
embargoed country or (ii) to anyone on the U.S. Treasury
Department's list of Specially Designated Nationals or the U.S.
Department of Commerce's Table of Denial Orders. By using the
Software, you represent and warrant that you are not located
in, under control of, or a national or resident of any such
country or on any such list.
8. U.S. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS: This Product is provided
with restricted rights. Use, duplication, or disclosure by the
U.S. Government is subject to restrictions as set forth in
subparagraph (c)(1)(ii) of the Rights in Technical Data and
Computer Software clause at DFARS 252.227-7013 or subparagraphs
(c)(1) and (2) of the Commercial Computer Software-Restricted
Rights at 48 CFR 52.227-19 or clause 18 52.227-86(d) of the
NASA Supplement to the FAR, as applicable.

9. OTHER: This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in
accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and of the
laws of Canada applicable therein. If any provision of this
Agreement shall be unlawful, void, or unenforceable, then that
provision will be deemed severable from this agreement and will
not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining
provisions. This is the entire agreement between the parties
relating to the subject matter herein and may not be modified
except in writing, signed by both parties. The parties have
requested that this agreement and all documents contemplated
hereby be drawn up in English. Les parties aux présentes ont
