  "Start/Settings/Control Panel".
- Then double click on "System".
- There you choose the "Device Manager" panel.
- Click on the "+" for "CD-ROM".

Asterix CD-ROM has been placed and here choose the

  tick.

You can also start the installation by clicking on
- "/Start/Run".

the name of your CD-ROM drive.
- Then click on "OK".

b) INSTALLATION under Windows 3.1x

II. DATABASE INSTRUCTIONS

"ASTERIX - SEARCHING FOR THE BLACK GOLD" uses BDE
(Borland Database Engine).
We recommend that you quit all other programmes which use
BDE before you start "ASTERIX - SEARCHING FOR THE BLACK
GOLD". If you are not sure whether, and which,
programmes use BDE, simply quit all running programmes.
"ASTERIX - SEARCHING FOR THE BLACK GOLD" makes several
entries in the WIN.INI file which refer to the BDE path
on the CD-ROM. If a version of BDE is already installed,
the corresponding entries in the WIN.INI file will be
changed at the start of the programme and restored again
at the end of the programme.
If an error occurs in your computer during use of
"ASTERIX - SEARCHING FOR THE BLACK GOLD", it may be that
these paths are not correctly reloaded. However, the
changes are marked in the WIN.INI file and can easily be
restored "manually".

III. GRAPHIC REPRESENTATION INSTRUCTIONS

"Searching For The Black Gold" runs completely in 256
colour mode. Nevertheless, we recommend its use in
HighColor mode to prevent possible problems in the
colour representation.
If problems occur unexpectedly, usually updating your
graphics driver will help. You can obtain current
graphic drivers from your computer dealer, from
graphics card manufacturers and via the Internet or
similar information services (Compuserve, T-Online, AOL,
MSN).
