Control 'S' - Toggles sounds on and off.
Control 'M' - Toggles music on and off.

*** If you find your ship spinning uncontrollably. ***

Your joystick is not properly setup in windows. To set it up...

1.  Double click on 'My Computer'
2.  Double click on 'Control Panel'
3.  Double click on 'Joystick'
4.  Set 'Joystick selection' to the joystick you have connected or to (none).
5.  Click on 'Calibrate' and follow the directions.
6.  Click on 'OK'

Your ship should no longer be spinning.

*** Improving Performance on slower machines. ***

Each of these will speed up the game.  It's recommended that you 
try them in order and only do as many as are required to make the 
game perform acceptably.

When the game boots up click on the 'Configure' button.
A new screen appears, click on the 'Config Sound' button.

1. Toggle the 'Stereo' to 'Mono'.

2. Toggle the 'Full Mixing' to 'Partial Mixing'.

3. Turn the music volume all the way down.  This will stop the music
   from streaming from the CD-ROM or hard drive.

4. Turn the sound volume all the way down or mute the sounds by typing
   'Control S' after the game starts.  This will avoid the over head of
   mixing and playing sounds.
