INSTALLATION & SETUP
The Decathlon Setup program allows three installation options.
A 'typical' installation puts all game and event art files on your
hard disk. This installation requires about 28 MB (megabytes) of hard
disk space.
You can also select a 'compact' or minimal installation, which places
only the core files required to run Decathlon. This option requires
about 11 MB of hard disk space.
The 'custom' option allows you to select files to install, through a
more detailed selection menu. Here, you can install the core files,
the event art files, and the video files. Installing all three
options requires 146 MB of hard disk space.
AUTOPLAY
Decathlon is designed for Windows 95, and features an AutoPlay enabled
CD-ROM. AutoPlay simplifies installation of multimedia and gaming
titles under Windows 95, by providing instant access to the most
common options for a particular product.
To exit out of the AutoPlay program at any time, click the 'quit'
button. To disable the AutoPlay feature hold down the 'shift' key on
your keyboard, while the CD-ROM is inserted into your CD-ROM drive.
During the intialization phase for Autoplay and subsequently Decathlon
setup. You do have access to Windows 95 desktop. Clicking the mouse
on the desktop, could cause a second copy of the installation menu to
be loaded. If this happens it is best to 'quit' the install process
and restart 'setup'.
DIRECTX
Bruce Jenner's World Class Decathlon, offers high speed graphics and
robust sound and music, while running under Windows 95. 'DirectX'
is the core component of the Windows 95 gaming experience, that enables
support for your PC's specific hardware.
During the install of Decathlon, you may notice the DirectX setup
program updating your video and/or soundcard drivers. It may also
prompt you for driver replacement, or machine reboot after the install
is complete. These are normal operations of the DirectX setup and
will ensure your PC's full functionality with Decathlon.
RESETTING THE GAME STATE
If you should ever experience problems loading or playing Decathlon,
in the unlikely event of an abnormal exit, delete the 'dec.stt' file
in the main Decathlon directory. This file contains Decathlon settings
information, and deleting it will reset your game state.
Thank you for your interest in Bruce Jenner's World Class Decathlon.
