POSSIBLE PROBLEMS
PROBLEM:
Game won't run, or only runs in a window (there is no full
screen mode).
SOLUTION:
This game requires DIRECTX(2). If you have an older version
of DIRECTX installed on your computer, the CyberGladiators
install program probably skipped the installation of DIRECTX(2),
telling you that your computer already had DIRECTX installed.
If this is the case, and our game refuses to run, follow these
instructions to install DIRECTX(2) over the current version
found on your computer:
Insert the CyberGladiators CD. When a window appears asking you
if you wish to play the game, click on Cancel. Double click
on your My Computer icon. Right click on the CD icon. Select
Open from the pop-up menu that appears. Double click on the
DIRECTX folder and then double click on the DXSETUP.EXE icon
to run Microsoft's DIRECTX installation program. Click on the
ReInstall DirectX button and follow the instructions that
appear.
PROBLEM
The screen graphics appear jumbled and/or flash on and off.
SOLUTION:
Try reinstalling DIRECTX using the instructions given in the
previous SOLUTION. Microsoft has issued several version of
DIRECTX in the past, and unless you are using version 2 or
greater, strange things may happen to the game's graphics.
PROBLEM:
Game won't run in a window when I press [Alt]-[Enter].
SOLUTION:
CyberGladiators runs in High Color (16 bit) graphics mode only.
If your Windows desktop is set to 256 or fewer colors, this game
will not run in a window. To change your desktop to 16 bit mode,
follow these instructions:
Right click on an empty area of the screen. Select the
Properties option from the pop-up menu that appears. A Display
Properties window appears. Click on the Settings tab, choose
High Color (16 bit) from the Color Palette menu, and then click
on the Apply button. You will be asked to restart your computer.
Click on Yes.
PROBLEM
I never see the title screen animation.
SOLUTION
You must have the Cinepak video decompressor on your system
to see the title screen animation. This is normally installed
by Win95, but can be deleted. If you have done so, you will
need to reinstall this decompressor in order to view the title
screen animation.
PROBLEM:
The game seems too fast and/or jerky.
SOLUTION:
There are two motion speeds selectable in the Options Menu.
By default, the game runs in Normal mode. To switch to smoother,
more realistic movement, press [Ctrl]-O at the character
selection screen, cursor up to the Motion option, and then press
cursor right until the Smooth option appears.
A jerky appearance can also be caused by a low frame rate. On
P60 and some P90 computers, it is important to switch to one
of the lower resolutions by pressing the minus (-) key or a
lower detail level by pressing the left bracket ([) key. This
will give you a higher frame rate with smoother movement.
PROBLEM:
The game appears too dark (or too light) on my monitor.
SOLUTION:
Pause the game by pressing Space. Now press the backslash key
(\) to adjust the game's brightness level.
PROBLEM:
I hit F1 and read the on-line documentation, but now the game
seems to have disappeared.
SOLUTION:
Running the on-line documentation automatically "minimizes"
the game--that is, it halts the game temporarily, reducing it
to a small button located on the Windows task bar. To re-activate
the game, simply click on the task bar's CyberGladiators button.
