Direct 6 Support
=================
This game requires DirectX 6 for all features to be enabled. It will run with
earlier versions of DirectX but cannot be guaranteed.
WINDOWS NT AND EARLIER VERSIONS OF DIRECTX
==========================================
Enemy Infestation was written to operate under Windows 95 and does not specifically
support Windows NT. If you are attempting to run the game under Windows NT you can
run it by typing 'ei -k' at the command line prompt. The same command applies for
earlier versions of DirectX other than version 6.
You will not be able to hear background music with the '-k' flag.

Sound Driver
============
Windows 95 Users:
There is a known issue relating to using the Windows Sound System sound driver
while running EI. If your hear occasional periods of loud static while running
the game, we suggest updating your sound driver from your card manufacturer.
Alternatively, if your sound card also supports SoundBlaster emulation, we
suggest using the SB16 driver. You can select the SB16 driver from the Control
Panel's Multimedia dialog. Under the Playback group, click on the Preferred
Device list and choose SB16 Wave Out.
Performance
===========
The bigger the install the faster the game will run. If you have opted for a
minimal install the game will attempt to copy maps to your HD when a level is
loaded. Each map is approx 30M. This speeds up the game noticably. Maps are
only copied if at least 40M of space is free on the same drive EI is installed
on. Any map loaded to the hard disk in this way will be deleted automatically
when the game terminates.
Other things that can be done to speed up the game
==================================================
* Do a full install (ie all game files on the HD)
* Turn off the in-game music (drag volume all the way to the left)
* Get a fast 2D accelerated video card
GAME PLAY NOTES
===============
Scenario Order
--------------
The Episodes are listed in order, but you can select up to 3 episodes ahead
of the last one you completed. This has been done so that if you get stuck
on one you can still continue with a later one.
It is recommended that you play them in order.
A tick will appear next to each level you have successfully completed.
You will only be able to select the final level if you have completed the one
before it.
TROUBLESHOOTING
===============
If you encounter minor problems with the game, for example if one of your
colonists is stuck, you can try saving the game and loading it back again
(for the single player game). Saving and loading the game cleans up the
game state, which will often fix these problems.
