I. CD Audio Tracks
---------------
Included on this CD are the songs featured in the program. These
songs can be played on a regular CD player or the audio CD player
of your computer. You may hear a hissing or scratching sound during
playback of Track #1 on some regular CD players. In order to avoid
this sound, advance the track number of the CD player to Track #2.
Please refer to the CD player manufacturer's documentation
regarding playback of the audio tracks.

III. Installation
------------
WINDOWS(r) 95/98
1. Insert the Fisher-Price Toddler CD in the CD-ROM drive.
2. If your system supports the AutoPlay feature, then the
Setup will start automatically. Just follow the on-screen
instructions.
3. However, if your system does not support AutoPlay, then select
the Start button;
4. Choose Run from the Start Menu.
5. At the Open box, type "D:\setup.exe", (where D is the letter
of your CD-ROM drive.)
* If your CD-ROM drive is a different letter than D, type that
in, instead.
6. Click on OK and follow the prompts.
To uninstall Fisher-Price Toddler
---------------------------------
WINDOWS(r) 95/98
1. Insert the Fisher-Price Toddler CD in the CD-ROM drive.
(Hold down the <Shift> key to bypass AutoPlay.)
2. From the Start button, select Programs, and choose the
Fisher-Price Toddler group.
3. Select 'Uninstall' and follow the prompts.

IV. Running the Program
-------------------
* WINDOWS(r) 95/98
1. Insert the Fisher-Price Toddler CD in the CD-ROM drive.
2. For systems that support AutoPlay, a dialog box will appear with
the following buttons:
Play - starts Fisher-Price Toddler
Read Me - opens this Read Me file
Family RC - starts the Family Resource Center
Quit - closes the dialog box
3. Select the Play button to run the program.
4. For systems that do not support AutoPlay, select the
Fisher-Price Toddler icon from the Programs menu at the Start
button.
5. You can also double-click the shortcut icon (if created) on the
desktop.
Note: If your system is running a custom desktop, refer to the
manufacturer's documentation for instructions on special
circumstances.

V. Fisher-Price(R) Ready For School(TM) Family Resource Center
-----------------------------------------------------------
The Family Resource Center (FamilyRC):
The Family Resource Center is a program that contains printable
Parent Tips and Children's Activity Sheets for all the
age-specific Fisher-Price(R) Ready for School Products. These
products include Toddler (Ages 1 ½ - 3), Preschool (Ages 2-4),
Kindergarten (Ages 4-6), 1st Grade (Ages 5-7) and Reading (Ages
2-4). The Parent Tips provide a wealth of information, advice and
general activity suggestions. The Children's Activity Sheets
provide a variety of fun learning activities away from the
computer.
Installing the Family Resource Center:
Toward the end of the installation of Fisher-Price(R) Ready for
School(TM) Toddler, you are given the option to install the Family
Resource Center. If you installed this program, refer to the
instructions below to run the program. If you did not install this
program, insert the Fisher-Price(R) Ready For School (TM) Toddler
CD into your CD-ROM drive and run the Setup program for the
FamilyRC. This setup will also install Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0
which is required to view and print the Children's Activity Sheets.
Running the Family Resource Center with Windows(R) 95/98:
Double-click the Family Resource Center icon installed on your
desktop. Or, from the Start button click on Programs,
Fisher-Price(R), then the Family Resource Center icon.
Using The Family Resource Center:
Once you have the Family Resource Center running, click on one of
the books at the top to select the desired product-related
materials. The open book below will display the topics for the
corresponding Parent Tips and Children's Activity Sheets. Click
on the pencil icon next to the topic to open the appropriate
Parent Tips. Click on the crayon icon next to the topic to open
the appropriate Children's Activity Sheets. Click on the Quit
button to close the Family Resource Center.
Windows(r) 95/98 TaskBar
------------------------
The Windows 95/98 Taskbar may interfere with the user's ability
to view Fisher-Price Toddler graphics, animations and program
information in certain activities. If you encounter difficulties
when the Windows 95/98 Taskbar appears on-screen, enable the
Taskbar's Autohide feature:
* Click the Start button, then select Settings, then Taskbar.
* At the dialog box that appears, uncheck 'Always on top' and
check 'Auto hide'.
* Click the 'Apply' button, then the 'OK' button.
You also have the option of relocating the Taskbar to different
sides of the display screen:
* Click and hold down the mouse pointer on a blank area of the
Taskbar.
* Drag and release the Taskbar on the side of the screen where
it causes the least interference.
Note: If you need to access the Taskbar or the Start menu at any
time while the program is running, press CTRL+ESC. To return
to the program, click on the program's display area, or
press ALT+TAB until the program's icon is selected.

VI. Recording Messages
------------------
Fisher-Price Toddler comes with 5 random messages that Spot speaks
randomly throughout the program. If you have a working microphone
set-up on your computer,you can record your own messages over
Spot's original messages, so that he pop ups and speaks your
recorded messages.
You may also replace the messages of the characters in the
"Telephone Talk" Level One activity. Your personal recorded
messages will play after the giraffe appears and says "There's a
special message for you." You can replace all 9 characters with
your recorded messages.
To record a message:
--------------------
(Recording a message will replace the original message with your
own.)
* From the Main Screen, select Parents Options. In Parent Options
you have two choices: Record Messages from Spot or Record
Telephone Messages. Choose one.
1. Click on a number block. It will glow when selected.
2. Select the "Play Message" button to hear the saved message.
3. Select the "Record Message" button (which will change to
"Stop Recording") and speak into the microphone.
4. When you are finished, click on the "Stop Recording" button.
Your message is automatically saved.
5. Select the "Play Message" button again to hear your recording.
6. Click on a different number block to record another message.
Follow instructions 2-5.
* To switch back to the original message, click the number block
that plays your recorded message, then click "Save Original
Message". Select play message to check.

VII. Troubleshooting and Performance Tips
------------------------------------
If the program is very slow:
----------------------------
1. Close any unnecessary applications that may be running.
2. Make sure your display setting is at 640x480 resolution
and 256 colors. Refer to your system or Windows documentation.
If the program does not run when you double-click on Toddler.exe
from the Explorer or type Toddler.exe from the Run line:
--------------------------------------------------------
Fisher-Price Toddler(TM) may require a command line parameter for
its executable to run. We recommend running the program from its
installed icon; refer to the Sections II and III above to install
the icons.
If display problems occur:
--------------------------
If you experience graphics problems while running Fisher-Price
Toddler(TM), contact your video card or system vendor to obtain
the latest version of their video driver.
Make sure the system is running in 256-color mode in 640x480
resolution.
To change the display settings in WINDOWS 95/98(r):
1. Select Control Panel from the Settings menu at the Windows 95/98
Start button.
2. Open the Display control panel.
3. Choose the Settings tab.
4. Select 256 for the color palette and 640x480 for desktop area.
5. Click the Apply and OK buttons. (The system may need to
restart.)
If sound or microphone problems occur:

If you experience sound problems while running Fisher-Price
Toddler, contact your sound card or system vendor to obtain the
latest version of their sound driver.
If printing problems occur:
---------------------------
Check with your printer manufacturer to make sure you have the
most recent printer driver.
Screen savers:
--------------
If you are running a screen saver in the background and experience
video and sound problems during the program, disable the screen
saver and the problem should be solved. Refer to your screen saver
documentation on how to disable the screen saver.
Reinstalling Fisher-Price Toddler:
----------------------------------
If you have deleted or uninstalled any parts of the program and are
having problems reinstalling, follow these steps to manually
reinstall Fisher-Price Toddler:
* Check to see that the Fisher-Price Toddler group is not in the
Windows 95/98 Start Menu/Programs. If a program group still
exists, insert the Fisher-Price Toddler CD, double click the
uninstall icon in the program group and follow the instructions
on the screen.
WINDOWS 95/98(r):
1. Insert the Fisher-Price Toddler CD into the CD-ROM drive.
2. Select the Start button.
3. Choose Run from the Start menu.
4. At the Open box, type "D:\setup.exe",
where D is the letter of your CD-ROM drive.
5. Click on OK and follow the prompts.
Improving system performance
----------------------------
These tips are designed to improve your system's performance in
WINDOWS 95(r):
1. Right-click the My Computer icon on the desktop, then click
Properties.
2. From the dialog box, select the Performance tab.
3. Click the File System button.
4. Select the CD-ROM tab. Set the Supplemental cache size to Large.
5. Match the Optimize access pattern setting to that of your
CD-ROM. (It should be set to Quad-speed or higher.)
6. Click Apply, then OK.
7. Restart the computer for the changes to take effect.

Video drivers and system settings
---------------------------------
Information about your system's video drivers can often assist
our Technical Support staff in diagnosing problems that are
encountered when running the program.
To get information about your system's video drivers:
1. Right-click the My Computer icon and select Properties.
2. Click on the Device Manager tab.
3. Double-click on Display adapters.
Device Manager also displays settings for hardware devices that are
not fully supported by Windows 95 or are using device drivers that
need to be updated.
Contact the system vendor or manufacturer if any subkeys, such as
those under 'Display adapters' or 'Sound, video and game
controllers' are displayed with a red X or yellow exclamation mark.
(Click the plus [+] sign to see the subkey.)
Calling Technical Support

Please have the following information ready if and when you call:
1. The product name (located at the top of this ReadMe file).
2. The processor and clock speed of your computer (e.g., Pentium
90MHz).
3. The brand name of the sound device installed in the computer.
4. The amount of free memory (memory available to run the program)
that the computer has. (Open Explorer on the desktop and select
About Windows 95 from the Help menu.) From the dialog box that
appears, write down the Memory and System Resources values.
5. The complete and exact error message reported by the program (if
any).
