A Guide for Parents
Franklin the Turtle's Clubhouse Adventures encourages learning through play. Designed for children ages 4 to 6, the game features replayable activities that provide entertaining game play while helping your child develop valuable, age-appropriate critical thinking skills:

Installing the Program
On Windows® 98/95
 

Franklin the Turtle's Clubhouse Adventures features the AutoPlay function available on Windows® 98/95.

1.      Insert the Franklin the Turtle's Clubhouse Adventures CD into your CD-ROM drive.

2.      Click on Install when the AutoPlay menu appears.

3.      Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.

4.      Once installation is complete, click the Play button to start the program.

If your CD-ROM drive does not support AutoPlay, follow these instructions:

1.      Insert the Franklin the Turtle's Clubhouse Adventures CD into your CD-ROM drive.

2.      Click on Start and then move the cursor to Settings.

3.      Click Control Panel and then double click Add/Remove Programs.

4.      Click Install and then click Next.

5.      Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.

 

On Macintosh®
Insert the Franklin the Turtle's Clubhouse Adventures CD into your CD-ROM drive.
Double-click Franklin the Turtle's Clubhouse Adventures Installer to install the program
 

Running Franklin the Turtle's Clubhouse Adventures
On Windows® 98/95
 
If you are using the AutoPlay feature of Windows® 98/95, simply insert the Franklin the Turtle's Clubhouse Adventures CD into your CD-ROM drive and select Play from the AutoPlay menu.

If you are not using AutoPlay, follow these steps to start the program.

1.      Close all running Windows applications and then click Start.

2.      Move the cursor to Programs, then to the Knowledge Adventure folder and then to the Franklin The Turtle's Clubhouse folder.

3.      Click the Franklin the Turtle's Clubhouse Adventures icon.

On Macintosh®

1.      Insert the Franklin the Turtle's Clubhouse Adventures CD into your CD-ROM drive.

2.      Close all running Macintosh applications.

3.      Open the Franklin's Clubhouse Adventures folder on your hard drive and double-click the Franklin's Clubhouse Adventures icon.

 

Uninstalling Franklin the Turtle's Clubhouse Adventures
Follow these steps to use the uninstall function available under Windows® 98/95 to remove Franklin the Turtle's Clubhouse Adventures from your system:

1. Click on the Start Menu.
2. Move cursor to Settings.
3. Click on Control Panel.
4. Double-click on Add/Remove Programs.
5. Click on Franklin the Turtle's Clubhouse Adventures.
6. Click on Add/Remove.
7. Click on Yes to complete the uninstall.
8. Go to Windows Explorer and delete the Franklin's Clubhouse folder from the Knowledge Adventure folder on your hard drive.

How Do I Sign In?
To start your fun-filled day in Franklin's Clubhouse simply sign in at the Clubhouse Member's list to let Franklin know that you are coming.

If this is your first time playing, let Franklin know that you are coming by typing your name using your keyboard. When you finish typing your name, click the "Go" button.

If you have played before, find your name in the Clubhouse Members list and click on it.

To erase your list of players
If you find that your sign in sheet has become too long, or if you wish to clear the list follow these steps to erase your list of players:

From your Windows desktop click on "My Computer"
Double click on the drive named "C:"
Double click on the folder named "Windows"
Delete the file named "Clubhouse.ini"
On your Macintosh open your "System Files" folder
Double click on the "Preferences" folder
Delete the file named "Clubhouse.ini"
 

 



Learn Franklin's Secret Handshake
Everyone who joins the club has to learn Franklin's secret handshake. He just loves teaching it to all his friends, including you! Watch Franklin closely and repeat the handshake in exactly the same order that he shows you.

Getting Around


You know there's something to do when your cursor turns into a star - just click!


Clicking the "Go Back" button takes you to the previous screen. If you click on the "Go Back" button from a game screen, it will take you back to the Main Clubhouse screen.



Each game offers 3 levels of difficulty indicated by the star buttons on the bottom of the screen. Change the level of difficulty at any time by clicking on a star button.



Click on the "x" on the Main Clubhouse screen to leave the game.

The Clubhouse Scrapbook
For added fun, Franklin the Turtle's Clubhouse Adventures provides the unique feature of a personal "Clubhouse Scrapbook" for each player.



The scrapbook contains all the Clubhouse Badges you collect by playing with Franklin and his friends. Earn badges for Discovery, Courage, Investigation, Cooperation, Imagination and, best of all, Friendship.

Play Detective with Rabbit
Rabbit is pretending he is a detective. Help him uncover the identity of disguised club members by spotting the differences in his photos. Click on the photo on the right side of screen to identify a difference.

At level 1 uncover 6 differences. Look for colors, shapes and sizes.

At level 2 uncover 8 differences. Look for colors, shapes, sizes and positions.

At level 3 uncover 10 differences. Look for colors, shapes, sizes, positions and the number of objects.

Dig For Dinosaurs with Snail
Grab your shovel and pretend that you're an archaeologist. Help him put together some incredible dinosaur skeletons and get an amazing surprise when they come to life before your eyes! Click on a puzzle piece to pick it up. Move the mouse and click again to drop it on the puzzle.

At level 1 put together puzzles with 5 pieces.

At level 2 put together puzzles with 9 pieces.

At level 3 put together puzzles with 12 pieces.

Find the Royal Knights with Fox
Fox and the gang have built a great big castle with lots of towers and windows - what a place to play hide and seek! Help Fox find all the "Royal Knights".

 

At level 1 find Franklin and 5 of his friends.

 

At level 2 you have a limited amount of time to find Franklin and his 5 friends.

 

At level 3, look out for decoy creatures that try to trick you! Click on a decoy and one of Franklin's gang get to go home free and hide again.

Make Friendship Bracelets with Bear
Bear wants to show Franklin and the rest of the Clubhouse gang how much he likes them by making everyone special friendship bracelets. But he needs your help to do it! Click on a bead at the bottom of the screen to pick it up. Move the mouse and click again to put it down in the correct position on the string.

At level 1 copy the pattern on the top bracelet to the empty string on the bottom bracelet.

At level 2 copy the pattern that appears at the beginning of the string

At level 3 copy the pattern that appears at the beginning, middle or end of the string.

Make Posters with Franklin
Create your own work of art to hang in the clubhouse. Choose from an assortment of borders, shapes and picture stamps to make the ultimate poster!

To pick a type of stamp: Click on a tool stamp at the bottom of the screen to select the type of stamp you want. Choose from background, border, character, or picture stamps.

To put a stamp on the page: Click on a stamp at the left side of the screen to pick it up. Move the mouse to the page and click to apply the stamp.

To erase an object: Click on the eraser tool to pick it up. Move the mouse to the page and click on the item you wish to delete.

To move an object: Click on an object on the page to pick it up. Move the mouse and click again to put the picture in a different position.

Play Pirates with Beaver
Send your paper pirate ships off across the pond in search of treasure. Dock the ship in the right harbor and win lots of pirate coins for your collection.

Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to steer your ship. Press and hold the key to go faster.

At level 1 navigate your ship through 2 rows of obstacles.

At level 2 navigate your ship through 3 rows of obstacles.

At level 3 navigate your ship through 3 rows of obstacles with randomly swirling whirlpools.

Exiting the Program


Click on the "x" on the Main Clubhouse screen to leave the game.

When you're asked if you'd like to leave the game, just click on "Yes". You can also exit the game by pressing Alt+F4.

Trouble Shooting
If you are having trouble with the program, try these tips before contacting Technical Support.

Make sure the CD surface (clear side) is free of all fingerprints and is not scratched
Try running the program on a friend's computer to help determine whether the CD is damaged or there is another cause of the problem
Close all background applications except "Systray" and "Explorer" (for Windows 98/95) and try to install or run the program
Run the program with a "minimum" extension set (for Macintosh)
Make sure your sound and video card drivers are the latest versions available (for Windows 98/95)
Make sure your extensions are the latest versions available (for Macintosh)

Knowledge Adventure Software License Agreement
YOU SHOULD CAREFULLY READ THE FOLLOWING END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT BEFORE INSTALLING THIS SOFTWARE PROGRAM.
This software program, any printed materials, any on-line or electronic documentation, and any and all copies and derivative works of such software program and materials (the "Program") are the copyrighted work of Knowledge Adventure, Inc. All use of the Program is governed by the terms of the End User License Agreement which is provided below ("License"). The Program is solely for use by end users according to the terms of the License Agreement. Any use, reproduction or redistribution of the Program not in accordance with the terms of the License Agreement is expressly prohibited.

END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT

Limited Use License.

Knowledge Adventure, Inc. ("KA") hereby grants, and by installing the Program you thereby accept, a limited, nonexclusive license and right to install and use one (1) copy of the Program for your use on either a home or portable computer.

Ownership.

All title, ownership rights and intellectual property rights in and to the Program and any and all copies thereof (including but not limited to any titles, computer code, themes, objects, characters, character names, stories, text, dialog, catch phrases, locations, concepts, artwork, animations, sounds, musical compositions, audiovisual effects, methods of operation, moral rights, any related documentation, and "applets" incorporated into the Program) are owned by KA or its licensors. The Program is protected by the copyright laws of the United States, international copyright treaties and conventions and other laws. All rights are reserved. The Program may contain certain licensed materials, and KA's licensors may act to protect their rights in the event of any violation of this Agreement.

Responsibilities of End User.

A. Subject to the Limited Use License as set forth above, you may not, in whole or in part, copy, photocopy, reproduce, translate, reverse engineer, derive source code from, modify, disassemble, decompile, or create derivative works based on the Program, or remove any proprietary notices or labels on the Program without the prior consent, in writing, of KA.

B. The Program is licensed to you as a single product. Its component parts may not be separated for use on more than one computer.

C. You are entitled to use the Program for your own use, but you are not entitled to:

(i) sell, grant a security interest in or transfer reproductions of the Program to other parties in any way, nor to rent, lease or license the Program to others without the prior written consent of KA;
(ii) exploit the Program or any of its parts for any commercial purpose including, but not limited to, use at a cyber café, computer gaming center or any other location-based site (KA may offer a separate Site License Agreement to permit you to make the Program available for commercial use; contact KA for details); and

Program Transfer.

You may permanently transfer all of your rights under this License, provided the recipient agrees to the terms of this License and you agree to remove the Program from your home or portable computer.

Termination.

This License is effective until terminated. You may terminate the License at any time by destroying the Program. KA may, at its discretion, terminate this License in the event that you fail to comply with the terms and conditions contained herein. In such event, you must immediately destroy the Program.

Export Controls.

The Program may not be re-exported, downloaded or otherwise exported into (or to a national or resident of) any country to which the U.S. has embargoed goods, or to anyone on the U.S. Treasury Department's list of Specially Designated Nationals or the U.S. Commerce Department's Table of Denial Orders. By installing the Program, you are agreeing to the foregoing and you are representing and warranting that you are not located in, under the control of, or a national or resident of any such country or on any such list.

Limited Warranty.

KA EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ANY WARRANTY FOR THE PROGRAM AND MANUAL(S). THE PROGRAM AND MANUAL(S) ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NONINFRINGEMENT. Limitation of Liability.

NEITHER KNOWLEDGE ADVENTURE, ITS PARENT, SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES OR LICENSORS SHALL BE LIABLE IN ANY WAY FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE OF ANY KIND RESULTING FROM THE USE OF THE PROGRAM INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, LOSS OF GOODWILL, WORK STOPPAGE, COMPUTER FAILURE OR MALFUNCTION, OR ANY AND ALL OTHER COMMERCIAL DAMAGES OR LOSSES.

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, or allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitations may not apply to you.

Equitable Remedies.

You hereby agree that KA would be irreparably damaged if the terms of this License were not specifically enforced, and therefore you agree that KA shall be entitled, without bond, other security, or proof of damages, to appropriate equitable remedies with respect to breaches of this License, in addition to such other remedies as KA may otherwise have available to it under applicable laws. In the event any litigation is brought by either party in connection with this License Agreement, the prevailing party in such litigation shall be entitled to recover from the other party all the costs, attorneys' fees and other expenses incurred by such prevailing party in the litigation.

Limitations on License.

Nothing in this License Agreement shall preclude you from making or authorizing the making of another copy or adaptation of the Program provided, however, that (1) such new copy or adaptation is created as an essential step in your utlization of the Program in accordance with the terms of this License Agreement and for NO OTHER PURPOSE; or (2) such new copy or adaptation is for archival purposes ONLY and all archival copies are destroyed in the event of your Transfer of the Program, the Termination of this Agreement or other circumstances under which your continued use of the Program ceases to be rightful.

Miscellaneous.

This License shall be deemed to have been made and executed in the State of California, and any dispute arising hereunder shall be resolved in accordance with the law of the State of California. This License may be amended, altered or modified only by an instrument in writing specifying such amendment, alteration or modification executed by both parties. In the event that any provision of this License shall be held by a court or other tribunal of competent jurisdiction to be unenforceable, such provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remaining portions of this License shall remain in full force and effect. This License constitutes and contains the entire agreement between the parties with respect to the subject matter hereof and supersedes any prior oral or written agreements. This License is the complete and exclusive statement of the agreement between the parties hereto, and this License supersedes any prior or contemporaneous agreement, either oral or written, and any other communications between the parties hereto.
