			TROUBLESHOOTING Q&A

Q: Will the game run on 8Meg of memory?

A: Not guaranteed. The requirements are 16 Megabytes,
        recommended - 32 Megabytes.

Q:	When I start the game, a banner appears:
"A required .DLL file, XXXXX.DLL, was not found"
        and the game won't run.

A: Most likely, this DLL is a part of DirectX, a Windows component
that is required to run the game. It comes with Hard Truck, and
the installer would install DirectX, but probably you have
        skipped the installation.

To do it now, start dx6eng.exe from the root directory of the CD.

Q: What version of DirectX does the game require?

A: DirectX version 6. It comes with Hard Truck, and the game
installer would install it, too; but if you skipped the
installation of DirectX, you can do it by starting dx6eng.exe
from the root directory of the CD.

Q: I do not hear the music.

A: Likely, you either made minimal install, or forgot to insert
Hard Truck CD into your CD-ROM drive.

Q: I press <M> and the monitor does not appear.

A: The monitor does not appear in a small window and in the lowest
        screen resolution.

Q: I have Windows NT 4.0 and I have installed Service Pack 3 as
was advised. The game runs, however multiplayer does not work -
clients do not connect to the server.

A: You should install Direct Play 5a. For that, log in as administrator,
and start dplay50a.exe from NT40 directory on the CD. The restart your
        computer.

Though DirectPlay 5 is a part of DirectX 5, is does set up and fix
the problem. The rest of the DirectX components will remain version 3
as after Service Pack 3 was installed. Note: this only applies to
        Windows NT.

Q: With steering wheel (or joystick), the truck always goes to the
        left (or right).

A: Any joystick or steering wheel as well, should be calibrated in Windows.
For that, find "Game controllers" in Control Panel, click on to it,
and select your wheel from the list that appears. Click "Properties",
        then "Calibrate". Follow the instructions.

Q: I have two video accelerators, one as a primary card and the second is
3dx Voodoo (Voodoo 2). The game uses the primary one, how do I make it
        use the 3dfx?

A: Here's the way:
        1. Uninstall the game.
        2. Install it back. Do not start it - it should not be once run for
the subsequent steps to be successful.
        3. Go to the directory where you installed it. It is likely to be
C:\Program Files\Hard Truck. In the directory find the file named
truck.ini and open it with your favorite text editor, NOTEPAD
           will be OK.
        4. Find the section titled [ENV]
        5. In it, find a parameter called numdev and set it to 2.
           Like that:

           numdev=2

        6. That's it. Play the game.

Q: What gamma should be set on my accelerator?

A: The gamma value should be set to 1.0.
For example, 3dfx default gamma is higher. To set it to 1.0,
go to your display properties (by right-clicking on your desktop
and selecting "Properties"), choose "3DFx Voodoo Graphics" tab
and adjust the sliders to 1.0.

Q: I have Windows NT 4.0. When I try to choose an accelerator mode, or
a full-screen mode, it says: "The version of DirectX installed
on your computer does not support the selected video mode".

A: Under Windows NT Hard Truck only runs in window mode.
