Thank you for purchasing HIGH HEAT BASEBALL 2000. We recommend that you read this 
file to get information about installing, running and maximizing the performance of
HIGH HEAT BASEBALL 2000.  This document contains useful information that will allow 
you to get as much enjoyment out of this game as possible.

1) Installation

To install High Heat Baseball 2000:
Insert the High Heat Baseball 2000 CD into the CD-ROM drive. If you have Autoplay
enabled, the installation screen appears. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete
installation of High Heat Baseball 2000.

If you have disabled Autoplay within Windows 95/98:
Select "Run..." from the Start menu. Left-click on the BROWSE button. Left-click on your
CD-ROM drive in the list, then left-click on the file called "Setup.exe" and press OPEN.
Left-click OK to begin installation. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete 
installation.

To run the game after installation:
Open the Start menu and open the Programs submenu. Select the 3DO program group, and 
choose High Heat Baseball 2000. You can also run High Heat Baseball 2000 by opening the
game folder located in the "Program Files\3DO" directory and double-clicking on "Hh2k.exe."
You can also start the game by double-clicking on the High Heat Baseball 2000 icon on
your desktop.

NOTE:  If you choose to do a Minimum install, you may notice occasional drops in framerate during
gameplay. You may be able to minimize this effect by turning the volume settings for the Announcer
and the Stadium Announcer down to zero.

3) Gameplay

Refer to your High Heat Baseball 2000 game manual for gameplay instructions.  Additional
information on gameplay is available from within the game under Utilities in the Main
Menu.

The VCR Replay camera control has changed.  Both the VCR-like controls and the camera
positioning controls are available from the same controller.  To switch from VCR mode to
camera positioning mode, press the button specified in the Game Manual as the button which
would switch the control between the two controllers.

The custom camera now lets you point the camera in different directions during gameplay. 
Controls are similar to the ones for the VCR camera controls.

NOTE:  Do not remove the CD-ROM while the game is running.

NOTE:  High Heat Baseball 2000 comes with a Player Editor which is a powerful tool that
you can use to modify existing player stats and ratings as you like. Changing a player's
statistics to highly exaggerated values could cause High Heat Baseball 2000 to become
unstable.  Experiment at your own risk.

4) ALT-TAB Key Use and Other Keyboard Information

In High Heat Baseball 2000, you may press [ALT]+[TAB] on your keyboard to return to
Desktop; however, we strongly recommend you close all programs before running High
Heat Baseball 2000.

The following are Hot Keys that may be used during a game:

[ESC]		During game play, you can press the Esc key to bring up the Pause Menu.
[F1]		Displays the Pitching Key during game play.
[F2]		Toggles the batting camera between low, high, pitcher and blimp angles.
[F3]		Works in conjunction with F2.  When switching between low and high batting 
		camera angles, you can stop the camera movement by pressing F3 for a 
		customized height setting.
[F4]		Displays the next 3 batters due up.
[F5]		Displays the statistics for both the batter and the pitcher.
[F6]		Toggles displayed statistics between current season, previous season, and 
		career statistics.
[F7]		Toggles displayed statistic between combined handedness, stats vs. 
		left-handed opponents, stats vs. right-handed opponents, and stats relative 
		to the handedness of the current opponent.
[F8]		Toggles display of baserunner statistics.
[F9] or [R]	Replays the last pitch and diagrams the ball path as it approaches the
		strikezone.
[F10]		Toggles a heads-up display showing the strikezone.
[F11]		Toggles a heads-up display showing the "actual" strikezone.  The actual
		strikezone may differ from the standard depending upon whether you have 
		the Variable Umpire option enabled.
[F12]		Toggles the chat window display on or off during network play.
[Backspace]	Activates the chat window (so you can type messages) during network play.
[Q]		In Net Play, acts as an emergency quit-game button if pressed while in
		remote pause.

5) Multi-Player Information

High Heat Baseball 2000 supports multiplay action over direct connection, LAN and the
following Internet gaming services:

HEAT.NET (http://heat.net)
Microsoft Gaming Zone (http://zone.msn.com)
MPLAYER.COM (http://www.mplayer.com)

When launching High Heat Baseball 2000 through one of these on-line services, some of 
the introductory movies are not shown.  After the movie, you will go right into the 
Game Options dialog, which serves as the connection screen. Once a game is completed
you will come back to Game Options after the Box Scores. If you quit a game, you 
will exit High Heat Baseball 2000 and go back to the Internet lobby where you started.

If you need to install the software to run these services, double-click on your CD-ROM
drive to bring up the High Heat Baseball 2000 AutoRun program.  Click the Multiplayer
button, and then click the button for the service you wish to install.  Once the software
has been installed you may launch a mutliplayer game on the service you have installed by
either using the shortcuts in your Start Menu or through the AutoRun's Multiplayer screen.

If you are using modem for a direct connection, the person joining the session has
the option to configure their modem from within High Heat Baseball 2000.  To do this:

- Select Modem Connection for Direct Play as the connection option.
- Leave the Phone Number field empty and click OK.
- This will bring up a standard modem configuration screen.  
- Configure your modem as you choose, enter the desired phone number, and click OK.


NOTE:  Modem-to-modem direct connection is not currently supported in High Heat Baseball
2000.

NOTE:  The Pitcher Warm-Up Option described in the user manual is disabled in 
multiplayer net games.

6) Video Card and Other Hardware Drivers / Direct X

High Heat Baseball 2000 works on any D3D compatible video card.  If your video card is
not D3D compatible, then you will have to run High Heat Baseball 2000 in software mode.
Video preferences are determined the first time you run the game.

High Heat Baseball 2000 requires Microsoft DirectX(tm) 6.1 to run. You are given the option
to install DirectX during the installation of High Heat Baseball 2000. If you wish to install
DirectX separately, do the following:

- Open Windows Explorer.
- Navigate to your CD-ROM drive.
- Open the DirectX folder on the High Heat Baseball CD.
- Double-click on Dxsetup.exe and follow installation instructions.

information about the latest Direct X drivers please refer to the Microsoft web site 
at http://www.microsoft.com/directx.

VIDEO HARWARE NOTES:
ATI Rage Pro video cards must set their desktop to 16 bit color before running High Heat
Baseball 2000. 

Users with the Matrox Mystique 1164sg-a should change their Lighting setting to "NONE"
in the video preferences screen when they first run High Heat Baseball 2000.

Users with video cards using the Voodoo II video chip set should NOT run High Heat
Baseball 2000 in 1024x768 UNLESS they are using SLI mode.  Users of the Voodoo I video
chip set should not use 800x600.

Users with video cards using the S3 Trio video chip set should NOT run High Heat 
Baseball 2000 in 1024x768 mode.  The game is not compatible with this chip set in that 
screen resolution.

You can alleviate most video display problems simply by going to you video card 
manufacturer's website, downloading the latest drivers for your card, and installing
them to your computer.

7) Changing Your System to Use Small Fonts

High Heat Baseball 2000 will not work properly if your system is set to Large Fonts or
Custom Fonts.  To change to Small Fonts do the following:

- Close all open programs.  Changing font size will require that you restart your computer
  after you have changed your font size.
- Right-click on your desktop. Select Properties from the pop-up menu.
- Select the Settings tab.
- If you are using Windows 98, click on the Advanced... button. Users of Windows 95
  may skip this step.
- Find the section titled Font Size.
- Choose Small Fonts from the selection box in the Font size section.
- Left-click Apply and the Close.  You will be prompted to restart your computer.
