HOT WHEELS(TM) WORLD RACE(TM) - README FILE - 24/10/2003
=========================================================

Welcome to Hot Wheels(TM) World Race(TM), this file contains 
information on installing and playing Hot Wheels(TM) World 
Race(TM) on your PC.

1) Installation
=========================================================

a) Place the Hot Wheels(TM) World Race(TM) CD into your
CDROM or DVD drive.

b) If AutoPlay is enabled, inserting the CD will start the
installation program for Hot Wheels(TM) World Race(TM).
Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to 
complete the installation.
	
c) If AutoPlay is disabled, double-click the My Computer icon
on your desktop, double-click the icon for your CD-ROM drive,
and then double-click the Setup icon. Follow the instructions
that appear on the screen to complete the installation.

 OR

Click START and then RUN type;
D:\Setup.exe 
and follow the on screen instructions.

Please Note: Use D:\ where D:\ is the letter of your CD-ROM drive.
To find out the drive letter for your CD-ROM drive, double click
the MY COMPUTER icon on your windows desktop.

2) How to Play
=========================================================

With the Hot Wheels(TM) World Race(TM) CD in your CD-ROM or DVD drive
click the Start button and go to 

Programs -> Thq -> Hot wheels -> World Race and then

select Hot Wheels World Race.

Before the game can be played, the user first needs to configure
the game to their personalised settings.

This takes the form of selecting an appropriate graphics display 
device and select an appropriate control device.

When the Hot Wheels(TM) World Race(TM) Launcher program is running
first press the "Configure Graphics" button.  This in will bring up an
options screen that enables the user to configure any graphical related
settings that the user may wish to change, these settings are of course 
with in the context of the Hot Wheels(TM) World Race(TM) game.
If the user is unfamiliar with any terminology present on this options 
screen it is advised that the user presses the "Default" button and then
the "Ok" button, this will save graphics settings that best suites the
Hot Wheels(TM) World Race(TM) game, with respect to your graphical adaptor.

With the graphical settings complete all that is left to do is to configure
the control system.

Pressing the "Configure" button for either player will enable the user to 
configure control devices that are attached to their computer system.

Upon pressing this button the user will be given a "tab" box with various 
control device that are attached to the computer system.
For each device a number of drop-down boxes will be available for the
user to map a gaming action to a control device control.

When the user has finished mapping the gaming actions to the selected control
device controls the user is required to press "Ok". 
This will save the control configuration.

Note:
If the user is unfamiliar with any terminology present on these options 
screen or that they just want a quick single player race, it is advised that
the user presses the "Default" button and then the "Ok" button, this will
save the control settings for a single player using the default controls listed
below.

Joypad User Note: 
Steer left/barrel roll left and steer right/barrel roll right gaming action may only be
assigned to the directional axis of the joypad and not configured via joypad buttons.
The reverse also applies to the gaming action accelerate, brake, handbrake, 
nitroX boost, camera change and camera behind, these gaming actions may not be 
assigned to the directional axis of the joypad but can be configured to the joypad buttons.


DEFAULT CONTROLS

Interface keys :
   Cursor keys - change selection
   Enter - select
   Escape - go back

Game keys:
   A - steer left/barrel roll left
   D - steer right/barrel roll right
   O - accelerate
   K - brake
   Space - handbrake				
   W - flip forward
   S - flip back
   P - nitroX boost
   T - camera change
   Y - camera behind
   Escape - pause

Now if the game has been successfully configured, the 
Hot Wheels(TM) World Race(TM) Launcher program will have the
"Run" button enabled.

If this button is enabled then press, this will take the user
into the Hot Wheels(TM) World Race(TM) game.

Other DirectX compatible 3D cards, may work with Hot Wheels(TM) 
World Race(TM) but have not been tested. At the time of this readme file
the following cards would be expected to work:-

   nVidia GeForce4 MX 460
   nVidia GeForce4 Go
   nVidia GeForce FX 5700
   ATI Radeon 9000
   ATI Radeon 9200


It is very important that you install the latest drivers 
for your card before running Hot Wheels(TM) World Race(TM) as 
there are known problems with older drivers on most of the hardware
listed above. You can download current drivers from the 
manufacturer websites:

   ATI - http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html
   Matrox - http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/drivers/home.cfm
   PowerVR - http://www.powervr.com/Downloads.asp

or you can find the current drivers (at going to press) on the 
Hot Wheels(TM) World Race(TM) CD-ROM located in the following
directory:

   \Redist\Graphics Drivers\

NOTE:
Only the current drivers for compatible ATI and nVidia graphics cards
are present on the Hot Wheels(TM) World Race(TM) CD-ROM.


PERIPHERALS

Hot Wheels(TM) World Race(TM) has been tested on the
following peripherals:

   Microsoft Sidewinder Gamepad Pro (USB). 
   Microsoft Sidewinder (USB). 
   Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 (USB). 
   Gravis Xterminator Digital (USB).
   Logitech WingMan Extreme Digital 3D ( USB ).
   Logitech WingMan Rumble ( USB ).
   ThrustMaster FireStorm Dual Power 3 ( USB ).

Other DirectX compatible peripherals, may work with Hot Wheels(TM) 
World Race(TM) but have not been tested.

5) Known Issues
=========================================================

INSTALLATION

Windows XP -
  Only the user that has installed Hot Wheels(TM) World Race(TM) 
  will have the privileges to change and save settings from within
  the Hot Wheels(TM) World Race(TM) Launcher program.

GRAPHICS CARD

Nvidia
  There may be running issues with nVidia graphics cards that 
  fall below the level of a GeForce2, 
  i.e. GeForce1 and GeForce256 ( DDR and SDR ).


PERIPHERALS

Control Daisy Chaining -
  Errors may occur when trying to "daisy chain" older MIDI style gamepad
  adaptors.

MIDI Style Gameports
  With older style MIDI gameport adaptors errors may occur with game
  control device detection/configuration.

Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro  
  There maybe issues with Hot Wheels(TM) World Race(TM) with this
  control device.


GAMEPLAY

Windows XP -
  Only the user that have installed Hot Wheels(TM) World Race(TM) will
  have the privileges to save any in-game profiles, e.g high scores and
  league standings.


COMPATIBILITY
