SECTION 3: LAUNCHING LEGO ALPHA TEAM
================================================

1. Insert the LEGO Alpha Team CD into your CD-ROM drive.

CD-ROM, click on the LEGO Alpha Team icon in the LEGO
MEDIA/LEGO Alpha Team program group in the Start Menu.

4. When the Launcher appears, click on Play to start the
    game.

SECTION 4: UNINSTALLING LEGO ALPHA TEAM

Team folder and some of the files in it that were installed
on your hard drive. To remove this folder manually, open the
Program Files folder on your hard drive. Find the
LEGO Media\Games\LEGO Alpha Team folder, select it and drag
it to the Recycle Bin.

SECTION 5: SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TIPS
================================================

It is advisable to maintain your machine to prevent
errors/crashes from occurring. We recommend that you run
Scandisk and Defrag on your hard drive(s) to prevent data
loss/corruption at least once a month. These tools can
easily be found by double clicking the 'My Computer' icon on
the desktop, right clicking on your hard drives, choosing
properties, and then clicking on the Tools tab. It is also
advisable to check with the machine manufacturer to ensure
that your drivers are current and up to date. Sound and
Video Card manufacturers often release a number of new
driver versions in a year to enable the user to get the best
out of their hardware. These drivers often contain
improvements and sometimes include bug fixes for known
problems. Please contact your manufacturer/supplier for
details.

Emptying your recycle bin and your \windows\temp folder can
free up space that may be required by some programs to
operate correctly. Make sure that no programs are open or
running when emptying your temp folder.

DirectX also comes with a utility called DXDIAG, which is
located in the "\program files\directx\setup" folder on your
hard drive. From here you can check to see if your drivers
are compatible with DirectX and test your devices to see if
there are any problems.

When installing and running LEGO Alpha Team it is advisable
to close down any other applications that you have running
in the background. If you experience 'slowdowns' or similar
issues while running the software it may be due to other
programs using resources needed by LEGO Alpha Team to run
correctly.

SECTION 6: KNOWN ISSUES IN THIS RELEASE
================================================

1. LEGO Alpha Team may not support the ALT/TAB key
   combination for task switching.

Description: ALT/TAB can be used to return to the
desktop in many applications, keeping the application
active in the Taskbar. In LEGO Alpha Team, this will work
for most computers, but there seems to be a problem with
certain driver configurations which will cause a screen
freeze, requiring the user to reboot their computer.

2. Setting the game display resolution above the resolution
supported by the monitor will render the game unusable.

Description: If the user changes the game display
resolution to a setting that is higher than is supported
by their monitor, the game will not display when it is
running. The user will be unable to change the resolution
back by accessing the Options menu, since it will not be
   visible.

Solution: Open the Program Files folder on your hard
drive. Find the LEGO Media\Games\LEGO Alpha Team folder.
Open the game.txt file in this folder. Delete the lines
labeled "Height" and "Width". If the line labeled "BPP"
has the number "32" next to it, change this to "16". Save
and close the game.txt file. When you restart LEGO Alpha
Team, it will be reset to the default resolution.

SECTION 7: GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING
================================================

A) DISPLAY OR GRAPHICS PROBLEMS

If you experience display or graphics problem while running
LEGO Alpha Team:

1. Make sure your display is set to at least 640x480
resolution and 16-bit color. Refer to your system or
Windows® documentation to change your display settings.

2. Contact your video card or system vendor to obtain the
latest version of their video driver. (Note: the latest
video drivers may be available for download via the
    Internet.)

3. Make sure no other applications are running while LEGO
    Alpha Team is running.

4. Make sure you do not click repeatedly on the LEGO Alpha
Team icon after double-clicking it once to launch the
    program.

B) SLOW PROGRAM PERFORMANCE

1. If the program seems to be running slowly, make sure
your system meets the minimum requirements. A system
    with a single-speed CD-ROM drive or a processor below
the minimum requirement may not be able to play all the
animation properly. For the minimum system requirements
    see Section 1.

2. If your system meets the other system requirements, it
may have insufficient RAM. The program performs best
with at least 32 MB of memory. Close any open programs
    to free up RAM.

3. Your virtual memory settings may also affect the
    program's performance.

4. Repeatedly clicking on the LEGO Alpha Team icon after
double-clicking once to launch the program may cause
slow performance. Try exiting the program, restarting
your computer and launching the game again.

5. Try adjusting your graphics acceleration:

    a. Right click on "My Computer" located on your desktop
       and select "Properties".
    b. Within the "System Properties" dialog box, select the
       "Performance" tab.
    c. Click on the "Graphics" button.
    d. Within the "Advanced Graphics Settings" dialog box,
adjust your graphics acceleration to the "Basic"
setting (second level from the left).
    e. Click on "OK" and restart your computer for the
       changes to take effect.

C) SOUND PROBLEMS

If difficulties are encountered with sound, including music,
sound effects, and dialogue:

1. Make sure the volume level is adjusted properly.

2. Make sure your computer speakers are plugged in and
turned on and that the speaker volume is adjusted
    properly.

3. Make sure that you do not have the sound muted. Double-
click on the small speaker icon in the Windows® Taskbar
at the bottom right of your screen to check.

4. If your sound system is configured with an incorrect or
outdated sound driver, the sound may not play properly.
Contact your sound card manufacturer or system vendor
to obtain the current sound drivers. (Note: the latest
sound drivers may be available for download via the
    Internet.)

5. Try adjusting your Read-ahead optimization.

    a. Right-click on "My Computer" located on your desktop
       and select "Properties".
    b. Within the "System Properties" dialog box, select the
       "Performance" tab.
    c. Click on the "File System" button.
    d. Within the "File System Properties" dialog box,
adjust your Read-ahead optimization to the "None"
       setting.
    e. Click on "OK" and restart your computer for the
       changes to take effect.

6. If you encounter loud static noise, try adjusting the
    Hardware Acceleration for Audio Playback.

    a. Click on Start/Settings/Control Panel
    b. Double-click on the "Multimedia" icon
    c. Click on the "Audio" tab.
    d. Click the "Advanced Properties" button in the
       Playback option box.
    e. Click on the "Performance" tab.
    f. Click and move the Hardware Acceleration bar to the
"Basic" setting (second level from the left).
    g. Click on "Apply" and "OK" and restart your computer
for the changes to take effect.

SECTION 8: COMPATIBILITY ISSUES
================================================

A) THIRD-PARTY SHELLS

If you are using a program shell other than Windows®
Explorer (e.g. Norton Desktop(TM)) and are experiencing
trouble installing or playing LEGO Alpha Team, try changing
the shell back to the standard Windows® Explorer. Refer to
your shell documentation or call your shell vendor if you
need assistance.

On Compaq® Presario 3000, 4000, 6000, and 8000 series
computers, you can disable the Compaq® Home Base shell
using the SP8671.EXE program. This program is available at
the Compaq® website:

http://vcmproapp04.compaq.com/falco/detail.asp?FAQnum=SP8671

If you do not have access to the Internet, contact your
computer manufacturer for details on how to disable the
Compaq® Home Base shell.

B) SCREEN SAVERS

If you are running a screen saver in the background and
experience video and sound problems during the program,
disabling the screen saver may resolve the problem. Refer to
your documentation on how to disable the screen saver.
