	General Troubleshooting and Help
===================================================================

All of these games will run on Windows 95 and Windows 98.
Garfield will also work on Windows 3.1 and Windows for Workgroups.

When you insert the Sonic and Garfield Pack CD into the drive, a window should
automatically appear allowing you to choose which program you want to install,
play, or uninstall. If you do not want to run any games, highlight the Exit
area and double click your left mouse button. To select a game, move the mouse
cursor over the graphic for the game you would like to play and it the graphic
should become highlighted. Once this happens, double click the left mouse
button and you should be off and running.

If this program does not appear automatically, try double clicking on your
CD-ROM drive or run the "run_3in1.exe" program in the root directory of your
CD-ROM drive (this is D:\ if you CD-ROM drive is letter D). If the program
still does not run, try manually copying "mfc30d.dll" into the System folder
in your Windows Folder. If your Windows Folder is "C:\win95", your windows
system folder would be "C:\win95\system".

*******************************************************************************
To avoid driver compatibility issues with Direct X2 and Direct X3, we STRONGLY
RECOMMEND that you install Direct X6 and choose the "Do not Install Direct X3"
option when installing Sonic and Knuckles. To install Direct X6:

   1. Go to the Start Menu
   2. Choose Run
   3. Type "D:\directx6\dx6core.exe" (This assumes that your CD-ROM drive is letter D)

This will install Direct X6 and will help you avoid having older versions of
Direct X overwrite your video driver or sound driver. If this does happen, please
refer to the sections below about resolving Direct X sound and video driver problems.

Baku Baku Frequently Asked Questions and Troubleshooting
===================================================================

Q: I keep getting a message saying "Line 253 = COMMON..." and the game
will not install - what do I do?
A: The solution is to download the Win 95 CD-ROM drivers for your
CD-ROM drive either from your CD-ROM manufacturer or from
         www.windows95.com.

Q: I keep getting a message saying that it cannot find the "Install Message"
files. What do I need to do to fix this??
A: Some of the Install messages for certain languages were not included, but
there is an easy way to get around this problem:

	1. Go to the Windows 95 Control Panel
	2. Choose Regional Settings
	3. Set your Country Setting to U.S. English
	4. Restart your computer
	5. Install Baku Baku (it will work properly now)
	6. Reset your Country setting to the preferred setting
	7. Reboot your computer for the standard settings to return.

Q: I keep getting a message saying "Cannot Acquire File Destination" and setup
program fails - what do I do?
A: Remove "dino2d.dll" and "dmix.dll" from the \windows\system directory and
         reinstall the game.

      Q: It says that I need Direct X (or dsound.dll, or dplay.dll or ddraw.dll).
         Where do I get it?
A: Baku Baku does require Direct X2 to work properly under Windows 95.

	1. We have included the Direct X6, which is a much newer version of Direct X.
To install Direct X6, go to the Start Menu, choose Run, and type
"D:\directx6\dx6core.exe. (This assumes that your CD-ROM drive is letter D).
	2. You can run the Direct X Setup program located at D:\directx\dxsetup.exe
(This assumes your CD-ROM drive is letter D).

Both of these solutions should work, we recommend installing Direct X6 first!

Q: I cannot get my gamepad to work - what do I need to do??
A: Baku Baku works with most all Windows 95 compatible
gamepads/joysticks. You must have it properly configured and calibrated under
the Windows 95 Control Panel. Choose the "Operation Settings" option from
the Options Menu in Menu Bar (do this on the title screen) to choose the input
         device for each player.

Q: The blocks keep moving to the right and I cannot control them??
A: If you are playing with the keyboard - make sure the input device
is set to "Keyboard" by choosing the Operation Settings Option from
the Options Menu (do this on the title screen). If you are using a
joystick - make sure you have it properly configured and calibrated
under the windows 95 control panel.

Q: I get sound effects, but no music - how can I fix this?
A: The music in Baku Baku is Midi Music - Try the different music
options in the "Options" Button on the game select screen. Also check that the
Midi volume has not been muted.

Q: How do I go into full screen?
A: You must press "F4" in order to go into full screen mode.

Sonic and Knuckles Frequently Asked Questions and Troubleshooting
===================================================================

Q: After installing the game, I am experiencing video or display problems. What
could have caused this and how can I fix it??
A: What most likely happened is MicrosoftÆs Direct X overwrote your video
drivers. Since Sonic Collection uses Direct X3, your previous drivers are
backed up when it installs new drivers. One way you can restore the
	   drivers is to:

         1. Double Click on the "My Computer" icon
         2. Double Click on the "Control Panel" icon
         3. Double Click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon
         4. Choose "Direct X Drivers" and then hit the "Add/Remove Programs" button
         5. Click on the "Restore Display Drivers" button

We have included the Direct X6, which is a much newer version of Direct X. To
install Direct X6, go to the Start Menu, choose Run, and type
"D:\directx6\dx6core.exe" (This assumes that your CD-ROM drive is letter D).

Q: I keep getting a message saying "Line 253 = COMMON..." and the game
will not install - what do I do?
A: The solution is to download the Win 95 CD-ROM drivers for you
CD-ROM drive either from your CD-ROM manufacturer or from
         www.windows95.com or www.drivershq.com.

Q: While playing the game with my Microsoft Sidewinder Gamepad, the game
constantly pauses. How can I fix this?
A: This is a compatibility issue with your gamepad and your sound card. You
can fix this by playing on the keyboard or by downloading a patch from:
         www.microsoft.com/sidewinder/products/hardware/download/default.htm.

Q: I get sound effects, but no music - how can I fix this?
A: The music in Sonic Collection is Midi Music - Try the different music
options in the "Options" Button on the game select screen. Also check that the
Midi volume has not been muted.

Q: During gameplay, I get Midi (Music), but no Sound Effects. How do I
         fix this??
A: What most likely happened is MicrosoftÆs Direct X overwrote your sound
drivers. Since Sonic Collection uses Direct X3, your previous drivers
are backed up when it installs new drivers. One way you can restore
         the drivers is to:

         1. Double Click on the "My Computer" icon
         2. Double Click on the "Control Panel" icon
         3. Double Click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon
         4. Choose "Direct X Drivers" and then hit the "Add/Remove Programs" button
         5. Click on the "Restore Audio Drivers" button

Certain sound cards require special Direct X drivers to be downloaded
from your sound card manufacturer's web site:

         1. Aztech Labs - standard in most Packard Bell computers
            (www.aztechca.com)
         2. Crystal Semiconductor
	      (www.crystal.com)
         3. MWAVE
            (http://watson.mbb.sfu.ca/new.html)
         4. OPTi
            (www.opti.com)
         5. Sound Blaster 64 AWE or Sound Blaster 32 AWE
            (www.soundblaster.com)

Q: The game is running way too fast - how do I fix this??
A: We will post a patch to fix this problem on our web site at www.sega.com.

Q: I am having trouble hooking up my gamepad/joystick. What do I need to do?
A: Sonic Collection uses Direct Input, so all you should need to do is
properly configure and calibrate your joystick/gamepad under the Joystick
Icon in the Windows 95 control panel. Once you have done this, start Sonic
Collection, go to the Options Menu in the menu bar and choose
"Use Joystick." One common point of confusion has been that you must
highlight the option that says "No Use" and then hit down - this should
change the option from "No Use" to "Player One".
