Last minutes notes about V-Rally

1. Users of Digital Joypads

Playing V-Rally with a joypad such as the Microsoft Side Winder may get
unpleasant results. This is because the game thinks that the pad is a joystick.
As a a consequence, it makes the steering feel too positive.

We have added the facility to make the joypad work better.

Select the Player Options menu from the primary menu screen. If the game
has detected a joystick, there is an additional button that makes the pad
react in a digital way (just like the keyboard).

2. Network Play

A network game is initiated by firstly selecting a protocol. This can be
either TCP IP which works accross the Internet, or IPX which is generally
the protocol available on Local Area Networks.

The players must first decide which protocol is to be used.

Always connect to the internet before attempting to play V-Rally through
TCP/IP.

Now one player must be nominated as the network master. You should really
choose the computer that has the most speed. This player then creates a
game session. The players wishing to compete in this session must select
join game and choose the session that has been created from the Session
Select screen.

You may now chat in the lobby. Select the entry line by clicking with the
mouse, or using the TAB key. Type your message and to send hit the enter key.
Your message will then be transmitted to all the other players in the Lobby.

The master is the only player that can select the type of game and the level.

Players are given the oportunity to change thier cars and options in the menu
following.

AT any point, the players may decide to leave the game. Should the network
master decide to leave the game, he will nominate a new master before he
leaves.

ALSO Should you join a game where the race has already started, dont worry.
You need not wait until the race is over, you may join at any time. You will
take over an existing computer car that has ben racing on your behalf.
However, should master realise a new player is to join the race, he makes the
computer car stop. Remember you have no advantage joining the race late!

Players may abort a network game at any stage and return back to the lobby.

3. CD Volumes

We have noticed that on some computers the Multi Media services can not change
the volume level on the CD players. Should the volume controls for the music
not change the CD audio tracks, use the Windows mixing desk.

4. Gamma Correction on Glide 3dfx cards

On some 3dfx cards the graphics may appear very bright or alternatively very
dark. This effect can be tuned by using the option called Gamma Correction.

To find this option use the game options menu from the primary menu screen.

We have found that on some versions of Glide for the 3dfx cards, the Gamma
is not affected. Should you find this problem, it is rectified by using the
global Gamma correction found on the windows desk top.

Right click on the windows desk top and choose 3dfx options. There you will
find a sliding bar that indicates the Gamma values. Move this slider to
select the options you reqire in the game.

5. In case of problems

If you have any problem of graphic or sound in the game, please be sure to have
the latests drivers and check if your video or sound card is fully compatible
with DirectX. See the list below for contacting your hardware manufacturer.
If you have any problem with your voodoo card, you can try to install the drivers
provided with V-Rally, you can find them in the directory named 3fdx on your
V-Rally CD.
