Thank you for purchasing WWII Combat: Road to Berlin. This
readme file contains last minute information about the program
not found in the manual.

or Radeon 7200 card)*
-DirectX 9.0 or higher (included on CD)

-56 Kbps modem or faster for Internet play

Operating Systems:
Supported operating systems are Windows 98/ME/2000/XP.
*The game may run on certain video cards lower than Geforce 2 or
Radeon 7200. Running the game on a video card lower than the
minimum specification will result in graphical glitches
throughout. We are unable to offer technical support to users
with video cards below the minimum specification.

Known Issues
================================================================
-When attempting to adjust the gamma setting on some video cards
clicking "apply" will cause the gamma to reset. If you are
experiencing this issue, adjust gamma on its own and click the
"back" button. The gamma setting should now be changed
properly.
-There are a number of known issues with Windows XP64:
1. When installing the game, the installer may crash near the
end of the installation process. Close the crash dialogue
window, and you should be able to launch the game by double
clicking the game icon on the desktop or by selecting it in the
start menu (Start > Program Files > Groove Games > WWII Combat -
Road to Berlin).
2. You may experience graphical issues with explosions in game.
These should be corrected when official 64 bit drivers are
released for your video card. Keep checking back with your
video card manufacturer for official drivers. You should also
check http://www.microsoft.com/directx/ for DirectX updates
specific to Windows XP64.
3. Because the installer crashed, you will not be able to
uninstall the game via the usual methods. To uninstall the game
manually, please follow these steps:
-Double click MY COMPUTER.
-Select TOOLS and click FOLDER OPTIONS.
-Click on the VIEW tab.
-In the ADVANCED SETTINGS, there is a section called HIDDEN
FILES AND FOLDERS. Select the SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS
option.
-Click on APPLY and then OK.
-Navigate to the following folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\PROFILE NAME\Application Data\
Groove Games\ (Where PROFILE NAME is the name of your Windows
profile)
-Right click the folder called BERLIN and select DELETE.
-Navigate to the following folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Groove Games\
-Right click the folder called BERLIN and select DELETE.
-Navigate to the following folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\
Groove Games\
-Right click the folder called WWII COMBAT - ROAD TO BERLIN and
select DELETE.

Troubleshooting
================================================================
-Ensure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements
listed at the start of the manual. Installing WWII Combat:
Road to Berlin on a computer that does not meet the minimum
system requirements can lead to unpredictable results.
-Before installing the game, make sure all running programs,
especially anti-virus software, are closed. Many installation
problems are avoided this way.
If you are still experiencing problems installing WWII Combat:
Road to Berlin, please follow these steps:
1. With the game CD inserted, double click MY COMPUTER.
2. Right-click the CD ROM drive and select EXPLORE.
3. Go to the EDIT menu and select SELECT ALL.
4. Go to the EDIT menu once more and select COPY.
5. Find a place on your hard drive to copy these files. We
suggest just copying them to a folder on your desktop. To do
this, right click your desktop and select NEW, then FOLDER.
Open the New Folder that appears, right-click inside the folder
and select PASTE.
6. The files will now copy from the CD to your hard drive. This
will take a few minutes.
7. Once the game has copied, run the setup.exe from where you
copied the files to install the game.
This process should take the CD-ROM out of the installation
procedure, so that any problems with the disc itself are
avoided.
-If you are running Windows XP or Windows 2000, you must install
WWII Combat: Road to Berlin via a user account with
administrator or power user privileges. If you do not have
administrator or power user privileges, please contact your
system administrator for further details.
-If you are running a firewall or a router, you may experience
difficulties attempting to play WWII Combat: Road to Berlin on a
LAN or the Internet. You must configure your firewall/router to
allow WWII Combat: Road to Berlin to access ports 7777 and 7778
for game sessions and port 28903 for the master matchmaking\
server. Ensure that TCP and UDP are enabled for all three
ports. If you do not know how to do this, contact your system
administrator or firewall/router vendor for further information.
Note that there is no need to configure the firewall included
with Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) as WWII Combat: Road to
Berlin automatically configures it for online play.
-If you are running Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2), you
may receive an in-game message indicating that Windows firewall
is enabled and that WWII Combat: Road to Berlin is not
authorized to access the Internet. This means that you are not
logged into Windows using an account with administrator
priveleges. To resolve this, log into Windows with an
administrator account and launch WWII Combat: Road to Berlin or
manually configure the firewall.
-If your machine is running Windows XP with Service Pack 1 (SP1)
installed and Internet Connection Firewall enabled, you may
experience difficulties attempting to play WWII Combat: Road to
Berlin on a LAN or the Internet. To correct this, you should
either install Service Pack 2 (SP2) or disable the Internet
Connection Firewall from your network settings. Follow these
steps to disable the Internet Connection Firewall:
1. Click the Start Menu
2. Select Settings, then Network Connections
3. Right click on your Local Area Connection icon and select
Properties
4. Click on the “Advanced” tab
5. Make sure there is no checkmark in the box next to “Protect
my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this
computer from the Internet”
-Some video cards, often included with laptops, have a rotation
feature that can cause the game to display sideways. Going into
your display properties and disabling the rotation feature
should solve this issue. Contact your video card manufacturer
for further support regarding the rotation feature.
-DirectX 9.0 is included on the WWII Combat: Road to Berlin CD,
but you may also need to obtain the latest DirectX 9.0 compliant
drivers from your hardware manufacturer’s website. Many
technical problems can be resolved by simply updating your video
and sound card drivers.
-Depending on your system configuration, game play performance
may be altered by changing graphical options in the Options,
Video menu. Lowering the resolution and color depths will allow
the game to run faster, while increasing them may cause the game
to run slower but look better. If game play performance is
still poor, you can also turn down the texture detail. Remember
to click Apply after making changes to these options. Adjusting
one (or all) of these graphical options can dramatically
increase game play speed.
-For optimal game play performance we recommend closing all
other programs or applications before playing WWII Combat:
Road to Berlin.
