The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth is a real-time strategy video game developed by EA Los Angeles for Microsoft Windows. It was released in December 6, 2004 and is based on Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, in turn based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s original novel.

How to play on Windows
- Click on the download button. It should redirect you to your download. Make sure you download the file properly and that your internet does not disconnect while downloading.
- Extract the “The Battle for Middle-earth” folder to your desktop.
- Open the “The Battle for Middle-earth” folder and then open the “Game Files” folder.
- Run the “Setup.exe” file and the game setup should launch. On higher resolution screens, you might not be able to see the full setup. In this case you can just press “Enter” on your keyboard to complete the setup. BFME 1 should begin installing on your computer.
- Once the game is installed, you can run the game from the desktop shortcut.
- Enjoy the game!

So I have the original disc for this game (Disc 2) and it doesn’t work so here I am, looking for this game online.

Hello, I just downloaded the game, installed it and could play the first couple of missions of the good campaing. Then starting die Amun Hen mission, the game crashed and now I cant start it anymore. It says in the Launcher: “You must run the game from its install directory”. I tried with all files I could find in the intall folder but nothing worked. Thanks in advance
got all the way to setup and then its saying that i need a disk
I cant seem to have the mouse free move can only use the keys the commands in the game are all messed up anyone else have this problem?
Is it possible to add use mods with this version?
i had it on hard disk and couldn’t get mods to work so probably not
Remember that in order to apply the mods you need to patch your game according to the version the mod is asking, for example The Elven Alliance Mod works for 1.03 update and 1.06, so before you install the mod you need to patch your game.

i downloaded this game yesterday and then in game it keeps have minifreezes then continuing the game is there anyway to fix?
Hey there! What kind of minifreezes do you have? and could you tell your PC specs and what system are you using? It might be that you have to update your graphics card drivers or install older versions of DirectX such as 8.0, 9.0, 10.
Also Update Visual C++ Libraries and NET Framework, these are like graphical system improvements to have games working correctly.
I keep getting a setup bin 1 error anyone have this problem an know how to troubleshoot it

Having trouble opening the game again. when I try to launch it says, you must run the game in the install directory.

when i open luncher and start game this game write me cannot locate the CD-ROM
Remember to apply the crack that comes in the game files you have downloaded, just copy the game.dat file to your game installation directory.

It allows me to press finish and it allows me to open the “T3A:ONLINE” Menu, but when I press “Launch BFME” nothing happens, and I’m guessing it’s due to the installation error.

I just downloaded it and had the same issue. On top of this my virus scanner gave a prompt.
– I uninstalled the game (not the Zip ofc).
– Deactivated my firewall and live scanning of McAfee (or whatever you are using)
– Reinstalled (no error in the end)
– runs perfect!
