    Hi guys, i followed the guide and did everything like Atsuko Said but when i run the game my mouse becomes a CD and then nothing happens, i have tried many times unistalling and reinstalling it but i cant open the game, any ideas?

      Try to install everything again following the steps I posted but uninstall the game using the program “Revo Uninstaller” it’ll help you to remove any remaining files of the game that may be causing a problem in the registry, then again try to reinstall the game following the steps I said, right now I just installed the game following the steps and it works correctly. If you guys still have problems with this I will make a video to show you that the game works perfectly. Right now I’m about to try again with the mod of the 1920X1080 resolution to see if the game works stable.

    hello guys I can give the original cd key to those who want a cd key, but I will download and try it myself first.I have the original CDs of the game.It gives error 23 error while loading the game.

      The game works well, just try to install it following the steps I said, and install older versions of DirectX9.0, Net Framework and Visual C++ graphics packages in order to get the game work correctly and fluently. Remember to use the program Revo Uninstaller to uninstall the game and consequently make a clean installation.

    Hello, I was able to follow your steps Atsuko san, thank you for posting it. Everything worked just fine, but when I click on Good Campaign, it stays black and nothing happens. I can play Skirimish or Evil Campaign without any problems. Do you have any tips please?

      Hello there Lukas! I’m glad it helped! Yes that happened to me once, I re installed everything from scratch and never happened to me, but when that occured to me I simply used a lower resolution like 1024×768 or 1280, try one of those until you can access the Good Campaign, if it doesn’t work try to reinstall everything but in order to uninstall it please use the software “Revo Uninstaller” you can find it for free in Google, it will help you to uninstall everything of the remaining files of the game in the Windows registry, so after that you can make a clean installation!.

    Installed>Updated to the right version>replaced Rings.exe with the noCD crack> Then when I launch the game, shows “You have an invalid CD Key…”

      Did you tried to reinstall everything from scratch, remember to apply the crack after the 1.01 update, not before, and use the crack in the folder named “Crack” do not use the one in the folder “Orig-Exe” that one is only to have the original War of the Ring exe file in any case you need it before the update, but it is not necessary.
      VERY IMPORTANT!, UNINSTALL USING THE PROGRAM “REVO UNINSTALLER” That program cleans everything from the game so you can do a clean installation!

    Hello there guys! The solution is to install it normally but before
    you apply the crack you must install the 1.01 Update, get it from here:

    After you Updated your game to 1.01 then apply the NoCD crack that comes with this game.
    That’s
    the solution, the black screen is because the game is in its base
    version 1.0 and the crack included is for 1.01, that’s why you need to
    update your game first to 1.01 in order to apply the 1.01 crack included

      hey man, i have an issue too with the patcher, almost at the end of patching, i get an error message telling me “older files were not found, but a file with the same name has been found, no update were applied since the files are not matching ” i tried patching as you said, after having the game close instant when trying to launch it, hope you can help me 😉

        Sure thing that’s because you need the version 1.00 of the game in ENGLISH, remember this patch only works in the English version, If you are using another version in a different language the game will not recognize the patch because the cracked patch is only made for English version, I’m telling you because I have the Spanish version of the game and the patch doesn’t work there, so you need the English version of the game, which is the version that we have here. but remember before the update do not apply the crack, just install it, patch it and at the end crack it 😀 hope it helps!

      What Atsuko san (Atsuko-san) told works. But if you use Win 10, you need to change de option of the compatibilitie to Win XP. AND GOOD GAME! 😀

      Eai Brasileiros, e faladores de espanhol que conseguem ler isto. Basta vocês instalarem o jogo, atualizar para PATCH 1.01, depois coloca o Crack, e aqui entra minha ajuda! Se você usa Windows 10 não funcionará de forma alguma, fica exibindo mensagem para inserir CD. Enfim, mudar a compatibilidade para Windows XP e pronto. Bom jogo!!

      Hey,
      Since you’re the person with the know-how:
      I have the same problem like some other people on here.
      I can start the Autoplay, which gives me the start menu but once I click play, the windows closes and nothing happens.
      Maybe I’m missing something or autoplay isn’t what I’m supposed to start.
      this is what i’ve done so far:

      1. Download game (or create ISO from my CD that I don’t want to use anymore. Problem is the same with both)
      2. Install Directx 9 in different folder (so that it does not clash with newer version)
      3. Install Game
      4. Download and run the Patch
      5. Download Binkw32.dll and copy it into the folder of the crack (because of error message that binkw32.dll is missing)
      6. Run crack (which triggers the pop up that asks me if I want to run it as an administrator)
      7. If I run the crack nothing really happens
      8. Run “autoplay.exe” in the wotr-playCD ISO
      9. click play in the opening menu
      10. watch as nothing happens

      I think that the problem lies within the crack, because I can run the game from “autoplay.exe” when the real CD is inserted. Seems like the crack just doen’t do anything (and yes I’ve run it as administrator with different compatability modes)

      Would really love to get this working just so I can waste my life away like old times.

    The game states the CD Key you provide is invalid. I installed the game, replaced the rings.exe with the crack one and then get a blank screen says cd key invalid please uninstall and reinstall.

      Hey there, that’s because the crack is for version 1.01 and the game is in the version 1.0 so, before you apply the crack you need to update your game with this patch:

      After that you can now apply the NoCD crack and it will work, so basically:

      1-Install the game normally (Do not apply the crack yet)
      2-Update your War of the Ring game to version 1.01 with the update.
      3-Now you can apply the NoCD crack to your game

        I installed the program, and updated the game.
        But when I launch the game with the CD I have only the first menu and when I click on Play War of the Ring nothing happens..
        And then when I try the no cd crack, it says that a program is unfoundable..
        You have a solution for that ? 😀

          Hey there! no problem!
          Did you follow these steps?
          1- Install the game
          2- Update the game (Do not apply the crack yet)
          3- Now apply the NoCD crack.
          4- If you are using Windows 10 try to run the game as administrator by right clicking the game and open the properties of the program, go to compatibilty and mark the ‘Run as Administrator’ option and set compatibility mode to Windows XP Service Pack 3.
          5- Now launch your game.

          I mean in order to play once you applied the crack you will not need the CD to play, because the crack will let you to play without the CD.
          Could you show me with a screen capture the error you receive when you launch your game? 😀 I hope it helps, it’s a great game.

          *Another problem I found is that If you try to use the widescreen mod for the game that gives you the resolution of 1920×1080 sometimes the game crashes, it seems a problem with the mod, because without it my game was stable and never crashed I just play it in the standard resolutions like 1600 x 900 😀

    I’m not sure the crack works for me. I’ve copied/pasted no problem, but i launch the game and just opens and closes. I’ve already checked comptability and adminitrator isuues. Any ideas?

      I just posted the solution mate! 😀
      In order to install it you will need the ‘DAEMON tools’ Software, it is free to use, just look it up in google. Then double click the game file called “LOTR-WOTR-InstallCD.iso” so you can mount the iso image in your Daemon tools and install your game. Once you have installed the game you might experience some troubles if you’re using Windows 10 or Windows 7, but I shared a solution in this topic, I invite you to take a look! 😀 Have a good day!
